Me too bac2369, will be interesting for sure. If we lose at Pikeville I'm buying
jetpilot something, I just don't know what.

I wouldn't care if I was u to lose to Pikeville in the regular season if u can beat them in november.

Paintsville could be a very dangerous team on the Eastern side of 1A...especially with the Belcher transfer.
06-08-2014, 08:23 AM
If Paintsville can stay injury free they should go deep into playoffs!

^^^ We are not off to a good start with the loss of Kent Phelps for the season. That is going to hurt big time.

I hate to hear Phelps is injured. What happened that would put him out for the year? ACL?

E army, he injured it playing baseball when swinging at a pitch and his shoulder came out of the socket. Had to have a complete re-do and a plate installed. Losing him will have a huge impact on the season.

Belcher is the RB and back at Paintsville and transfer has been done for a while now. He was on the track and field team in the spring. Thanks 64SUR and best to the Jackets !

Losing Phelps is huge. Already having a quick and shifty back like him is what made the addition of Belcher such a big increase in their chase for atleast a district title. Losing him, they become almost the same type of team as last year. Belcher is probably worth more tds per game, but I dont think that be will be enough by himself, even with Daniels, to win the district. Now, if they get Phelps back around week 6 or 7, they could indeed shake things up. If not, I see this season ending up the same way it did last year for the Tigers. 2 playoff wins and a loss at Raceland. That game will probably be closer though. Belcher has the ability to give them 2, maybe 3 more scores. Paintsville's defense was their weak spot against Raceland.

Anytime you can get a features Rb from a 4A school and now a 1A lookout raceland, fairview and pikeville. Just like in williamsburg we get a features RB from 5A harlan county..Now are we going to be a running team or a passing team. I think both i hope. Replacing sizemore is the key. inglepar

It don't matter if they come from 4a or 6a. The question is have they got game and can they fit into your system?

If Raceland, Pikeville, and Fairview were on the same situation as Paintsville last year, then I could agree that a 4A back, coupled with a healthy Daniels, another year under the QBs belt, would make them the favorite. But the fact remains that Raceland/Fairview and Pikeville are still tops in their region. Fairview is a question mark, but Raceland and Pikeville are more than likely on a path to 7-3 up to a 10-0 regular season, district championships, and another meeting in the Regional Championship. The only toss up games for Raceland are Ashland and Coal Grove or Ironton. For Pikeville, I think their only toss up games are Hazard(another A mainstay), Belfrey and Prestonsburg. Both teams should handle everyone else on their schedule pretty soundly. I may be way off basebut thats just my opinion. Everyone in the east, outside of Williamsburg is still young. Which means not much will change over the next several years on our side of the state. All of which is good for 1A football. With all classes seemingly becoming more competiive in the next alignment, I think KYHS football is on its way into national relevancy.

Belcher was not the "featured" back but looked like he could be very good. Having said that, I could run for 1000 yards behind Johnson Central's line. The key for Belcher, and Paintsville, will be how good the OL is and how well they are able to open holes for him. Daniel will be very good and Belcher probably will be as well. But Paintsville will have to give them tons of help to be in the hunt for a district and/or regional championship. All IMO of course. I will stick with my original prediction that 2015 will be the year that Paintsville will be a major force.

I heard that a LB was enrolling in Paintsville soon. Moving belcher to strong safety.. That tightens up the defense..

Someone let me know the transfer scoop in a PM! Lol.
HATE to hear Phelps got hurt, that kid is supremely talented and special. Hopefully one of you Tiger fans can keep us updated with Paintsville highlights. I'd love to watch them play this season. Really cheering for them to make a comeback.

We will try belfry0304 to keep you posted on the Tigers season and thanks for the wishes. God knows we have needed it for a long time. You guys will keep rollin as usual and I still remember X killing us in elementary football. Best to Belfry but huge uphill battle without Kent for us, it would have been a season where we could have made a statement against our district but without him it's a bust. Just trying to be realistic.
06-11-2014, 10:53 PM
^^^way too soon to call it a bust. Lots of auestion marks in our district. Will Daniels be at FB/TE or QB? Didnt he take the snaps as a Frosh?

I was just thinking about if we had a full group healthy to play against Raceland Fairview this year and without Phelps it will be tough to compete.
My understanding he is taking the snaps at practice but who knows what will happen until the first game.

I hate to hear about his injury. Hopefully he will have a full and speedy recovery. It would be great if he got to play this fall.
