Unbelievable!!!! If it was just one school that got the bad calls I would say ok deal with it, they are a better team but when I have been there and saw differently I must say something.
I know for a fact that Whitley "won" the boys game during the district tournament. From what I hear a lot of other teams win was taken from them in those last few seconds with those bogus calls. There are alot of things about these games that make you go Hmmm! Especially when Corbin is involved.

I am not taking nothing from them but it is a little easier when all the calls that the refs call are in the favor of your team. And the funniest thing about it is while this guy had his temper tantrum at the half things were turned around. I mean corbin is a lot more physical than just having 5 fouls called on them during the second half. Just like when we were playing in the Cumberland falls classic the ashurst man showed his but at the beginning of the second half we didn't even come close to the bonus they were in the double bonus.

Anytime you run a state championship coach off so you can hire your brother you deserve to lose. Bell had a good team and Morris is a great player. It would have been great for the state to get to see her on the big stage.

Coach Mac and his staff made some good adjustments at the half as Bell was really hurting them with the 3-ball, and the Bobcats never really got into an offensive flow in the second half. Does anyone have their shooting stats for each half?

I thought some of you should read the comments from the Harlan coach, sure didn't hear any excuses from him. It explains to me how they were able to reach the title game despite being such a small school, and also leads me to believe they will be back in a position to win the region again very soon.

Corbin has a nice team and their kids played hard. Its not taking anything away from them at all. But Bell attacked the entire 2nd half and never did get in the bonus. Now of course they may or may not have made FT's but it did change the way that both teams had to play or got to play. Bell fouled late trying to extend the game but at that point the damage had basically already been done. Bell did miss some shots that hurt them and they got out of sink some in the 2nd half. I did think that Bell had a nice game plan with using the zone against Corbin. Corbin did do a good job late of protecting the basketball.

The varsity club is going to pay the 1.7 million the Arena lost last year, so they can keep the region at the Arena. It's easier to rig up there, they had to call in outside help when it was at Harlan Co. You can't get good help anymore, they messed up during the boys game is the reason they lost in the first round last year.

I gotta laugh at myself just a little before I post here. No doubt I'm going to make a lot of friends here...lol.

I didn't see the Corbin Bell game but I guess the first thing I need to reconcile in my head is where Mike Ashurst is getting all this money to make these payments? Although he is no stranger to poor officiating, I just can't process where all this payoff money is coming from. Just not there in my opinion. I thought the Corbin Harlan game was pretty well officiated with the exception that refs couldn't count to 3...or 8 for that matter. Corbin was fast, strong, and played great defense!


Now to these Bell County officiating crusaders. I'm glad to know you are on the job! Nothing worse than kids being cheated, and I agree. Knowing that you guys have a handle on situations like this I feel much better and am able to reconcile the phantom unnecessary roughness flag thrown against Harlan County so we were going in to score in 2012. Finally I can sleep knowing that someone confronted that crew and held them accountable for the terrible injustice served to the young men of Harlan County! Two and a half years later the stars are finally aligned in my world...lol
