I do too. And as much as I hate it, I think it will be TJ. I was confident he would stick around, but after a few conversations with some people from both sides of the Rail Coties tracks, that he will be headed for his Alma Matre.

Don't see it won't have as good as schedule nor money at Russell. Russell won't meaning Sean Horne pay him what he makes at Raceland just my opinion.

I think Sean Horne will do what he wants won't matter what a committee says or nothing and I think he will hire someone young and energetic.

You don't think TJs young? Energetic? I have no clue who the next coach will be. I think we all put him as the front runner because he's so local. I do know he sat with coach Morris at the Greenup/Russell basketball game. Could be reading too much into that but it did get people buzzing.

Russell's pay scale is the highest in the area for teachers and administrators.

Agreed but I believe raceland gives large amount of extended days not sure russell do that

The extended days make up a lot.

I had been thinking along these lines. If TJ can "name his price" and Russell can do so and Raceland cant match or beat it, why wouldnt he consider it? If he could make the same amount of money, if not more, putting in less hours, thatd be hard to turn down. I think it all boils down to money. I feel that Raceland and Russell will be on the same level for the next year or 2. In 3 or 4 Russell will be back into serious itle contention, Raceland will be for the next several years due to the new alignment. But both teams, imo, will be in the same position in their respective classes for the most part NEXT year. No matter who is coaching them. I just hope they can fire up the RCB again. Not enough competiive teams in the area to nt have the top few playing eachother. Raceland, Russell, Ironton, and Ashland all need to be playing eachother.

There are two coaches in this area I would consider hiring if I were Russell. Maynard and McPeek. Like I've said before, McPeek too hot coming off Fairview problems but could be young energetic coach Russell needs. Maynard is great motivator and energetic too. Any chance these two join forces? McPeek could use a year or two to let things cool off, be right back in position for another HC job.

Don't you think Mcpeek has much more to offer than being assistant?

If McPeek came I'm sure they would have to look into how many open apartments Flatwoods has to offer. (Bows) "thank you...thank you....I'll be here all week" lol

Like I've said several times russell be lucky to get a coach like Nate Mcpeek I know your joking around but TJ had several housed and come in as well so you need to include everyone in that joke. How about ashland do they have transfers? :please:
02-03-2014, 10:06 PM
Yes, please. Let's not get into transfers. This isn't the time or place. Again, let's stay on topic. RUSSELLS NEXT COACH.

Nate Mcpeek would be a great choice for the head coaching job at Russell.

With the recent suspensions and players quitting for the Rams{ 2 of the players play football and transferred from Russell}. Could they know something and be transferring back?

I very much doubt that. I for one would never hold a grudge for anyone leaving and coming back. These are kids remember but I can't see certain individuals swallowing that pill.
So is Morris not even considering taking over? Or is the hopes for TJ so strong. I've ran thru my mind all possible candidates and pretty much all would be good fits.

Russell needs a change and a fresh start. Hiring someone from the same stage wouldn't give them that. I don't know, but I believe that is what Horne wants, a fresh start.
02-05-2014, 03:01 PM
Horne is not a football type guy. He either has someone already or other board members (Whitt..etc..) are guiding him. I agree it's a top job. Great kids coming up. Great fan base. New field house with big screen film area. Great booster club. Heck!!! I may even apply. Lol
02-06-2014, 09:30 AM
How could anyone pass up a big screen film area?

I also played Pitfall on Atari but I would not consider a Nintendo the Mercedes of the gaming industry. I also heard we landed on the moon. Just playing around and I'm sure it is nice but a lot of schools have these now.

Just saw Bill Parcells at Huddle House.

We will be having a Russell Football Boosters Meeting Monday Feb. 9th at the Flatwoods Library. The meeting will start at 6pm. We will be electing officers for this coming year and also be discussing the fund raising events for this year.

Getting closer to naming the head coach. Should only be ~12 more days before the offer is made. May take a little while longer for the official announcement. But my personal oppinion the official announcement will be Feb. 24th. I know the school realizes the urgency to award the job so the new head coach can get started with his weights and conditioning. Wow, we will actually have weights and conditioning at Russll again. Back in the early 80's if you were not playing another sport coach McGlone expected everyone to be working out. And we used to run our butts off when 2 a days started. I don't know what happened over the years but I've had 2 sons play for him and it was up to them if they wanted to lift and condition in the off season, and there was no conditioning before the season started. By then it is too late. And it always showed especially half way through the season that Russell was always out of shape.
It won't be long. :devilflam

So you already know who it is?

I may take it to the extreme just a tad but if anyone were to ask my son when football season ends he will tell you it doesn't end until he plays his last game as a senior. Granted he plays no other sports so it's a 365 day a year thing for him. I remember 2 a days in the 80's and it was pretty much non stop. Barely could catch your breath.
