Congrats to both Schools. I know Mayfield will be the odds on favorite, but I also know that Williamsburg will scratch and claw. I think it may be a more interesting game on the field than it is here in the chatter room. Best of luck to both!
The past few weeks I've heard the same stuff, raceland is too fast, hazard is too big, the Wburg defense isn't as good as people think. I think beating hazard and handling raceland proves how good this team can be. The burgs defense is fast and really darn good and I expect them to be clicking on all cylinders: Williamsburg 28 mayfield 22

Nobody from W'burg has mentioned Wayne since yesterday morning. You are the one that's keeps bringing it up. Just look back through the thread and see for yourself.
rednblackattack Wrote:[quote=smoke1015]Wayne's 2 touchdowns better than any team in 1A in my opinion, their best game against the other teams best. Although Central has had a "down year", Wayne's "Eastern speed" held up pretty well. But then again Wayne isn't exactly East, they are more south central or slightly south western, but regardless...

Funny how this stuff is totally reversed in middle school. For example, Bowling Green, Glasgow, Louisville middle schools, all the "Western Teams" go in and get manhandled by tough hard nosed Eastern teams, mostly mountain teams. I watch Corbin just smash teams like Bowling Green, speedy athletic teams and they are having 2 and 3 players carried off the field in one play. I just don't understand it. For example, my son made the all-star team, East/West thing tomorrow, and he'll be on the West (with all this "superior speed"), and we KNOW we are going to get hammered by the East because that's the way it is every year.

The funniest part of football, well, any sport is the fan that think certain players are over age, etc.. Filming the video and talking with a lot of state guys for the middle school playoffs, it seems that many western or northern people, (city/urban schools) feel that the mountain teams are all over age, a bunch of 16 and 17 year old middle schoolers out there. As one guy said, "with these mountain teams, you just never know"...lol. So if I am over talking to the "mountain schools", they are saying the same thing. "Some of these bigger city schools, man some of their kids have to be 2 and 3 years older than the age limit, it's crazy". It's the same BS for everyone, everyone, in the end, has the same excuses, and pretty much are wrong the same way. I personally still think Lebron James was 25 years old his senior year of high-school...[/QU
Ofn course that is your opinion since Wayne manhandled The Burg. However I don't think Wayne could even beat Mayfield let alone by 2 tds. Not many teams in the whole state could.
McCracken county a very good 6a team is ranked over Wayne in every state ranking. Mayfield beat them. I'm sorry Wayne is a great team just not the world beaters they are being made out to be in order to make Williamsburgs bad loss to them look like everybody else would lose like that to them. I don't think Wayne could beat Mayfield and I think they would struggle with Russelville. The other one a school who is better than every 1a school in the East.

Put the Louisville private's in, and things would change.

That is the funniest thing I have ever read on this site.
You are nuts if you think you are anywhere close to being as good as Wayne.
You couldn't even get past Caldwell.

Say what you will, but Wayne County would take it to any team in class 1A, 2A, and even 3A. Belfry will be way outmatch this weekend, and you think Mayfield could beat Belfry? No.

Please... Wayne County would be ranked 3rd, maybe 4th in 2A.

you've lost your cotton picking mind lol
Who would they beat? DeSales? No. Caldwell? No. CAL? Maybe. You don't know much about 2A football on this side of the state.

I cannot see Belfry being way outmatched this weekend, also you are mistaken if you think that Mayfield could not beat Belfry. In a one game matchup, they may or may not win, but I'm certain that they could.
the A team Wrote:patrick #25 has hurt shoulder and someone else on the team got a concussion

we will be hurting without Patrick but his backup is solid so it shouldn't kill us

I will be shocked if Patrick does not play.

Your proving my point.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't DeSales beat CAL? Didn't CAL beat a top 5 ranked 6a team? Need I say more?
Now if you don't think there is that big of a difference between Williamsburg and Mayfield, just come to the game and see first hand.

Good thing he has a twin we will just switch jerseys
MayfieldCardinal Wrote:THe Burg likely has not seen speed like we will have and I mean team speed. There is a difference in WKY speed and EKY speed. EKY is always slow by the standards of the rest of the state. Not a knock, just fact atleast thats the way its always been

No, that's not really true. Rather, it's the style of football which makes it look that way. EKY has more between-the-tackles power running teams and relatively fewer open spread attacks.

As far as THIS game. Williamsburg is about as wide-open an offense as you'll see and the Jackets are NOT slow. The questions is...will it be able to get enough big plays against a talented Mayfield defense ?

Finally some more good stats to share with you. I have already pointed out how much large of a margin there is between the schedule that Mayfield has played and Williamsburg has played. If you didn't see that I think it is on like page 1 or 2 of this thread. The schedules would be like comparing a high school team to a middle school team. Anyway, a team playing a much tougher schedule, if they were close to the same, should have much lower stats than a team playing a much weaker schedule. So here is what I have came up with.

Top running backs in 1a:
MHS has Stuart Mills at #7 with 1243 yards, which is an avg of 96 per game.
WHS is still looking for one.

Top qb's in 1a:
Dalton Sizemore #2 has gone 146-253 with 6 int and 2556 yards. His avg is 255 per game
and he has 28 td's.
Jake Guhy is #4 has gone 139-221with 6 int and 2023 yards. His ab=vg is 156 per game and he has 27 td's.

Top receivers:
MHS has #2 Deon Jackson. He has caught 37-871 and 11td's and Lane Kennemore #11. He has caught 29-478 and 8 td's.

WHS has #6 Skyler Griffith. He has caught 44-848 and 11 td's.

Team Scoring Leaders
#2 MHS with 559 points which is an avg of 43 ppg.
#3 WHS with 491 points which is an avg of 40.9 ppg.

Scoring Defense Leaders
#2 WHS with 12.3 ppg.
#5 MHS with 17.4 ppg

There you go. There is some more facts for you. I'm sure the Wburg faithful will put a spin on this to say they have better stats or their schedule was tougher, but here you go.
In case anyone was wondering I have figured the 2 qb's percentages.

Sizemore completes 58%
Guhy completes 63%
The latest Lit ratings have Mayfield 15 points ahead of Williamsburg.
You can't even compare the two schedules, the biggest school the burg played was a 5A school and put up very similar #'s to Mayfields. Anything can happen in a ball game, but Mayfield should bring their A game.

Now if anybody wondering the truth a bouts Sizemore

Passing 2775yd 31td

Now if anybody wanting to know our top receiver Cory Shelton

receiving 1073yd 14 TD

Now if anybody wanting to know our top rusher Jefferson Patrick

703 yd rushing
