Tom Larkey is one of the top coaches in the Mountains and he knew what he was doing when he scheduled Belfry, Johnson Central, and Greene County, TN. The only VERY good teams that Madison Southern and Pulaski can point to on their schedules is each other. We will have to see the results of a few more games to see if there were any outstanding teams on either of their regular season schedules. My prediction, as a a fairly neutral observer, is that Coach Larkey's experience will result in another regional championship for Harlan County.

Rome obviously has no knowledge of football! It's not worth acknowledgement
It will be a tough game but I think HC wins in a close one!

After watching HC put up 550 yards last night, and the way the Defense is playing, i'm not so sure i would count HC out, even if it is Harris coming to town, like i said he will get his, but he won't beat HC all by himself. This will be a good game but in the end HC still wins in the trenches, just to physical for MS AGAIN....
Harris will bring the pain!
Barring any injuries, I dont see HC beating MS.
Real talk there.

The football experts who have crowned Pulaski County King of Mountain football should take those facts into account before predicting that any lesser team is going to blow out the Black Bears. Neither Madison Southern nor Pulaski County have played a schedule comparable to Harlan County's.
The mythical King of the Mountains crown is deinitely what teams are worried about in the playoffs :biglmao:
Hell, PC shouldnt even be considered a moutain team.
I think both teams arent worried about how good teams east of I75 are, and they both probably dont really care who anyone has ranked number one.
HC blew there chance against JC and Belfry. PC and MS are two completely different teams that do not resemble those two in any shape, form, or fashion.

HC has ended Pulaski's season in convincing fashion since 2010. You have been touting Pulaski as world beaters all season long but I seriously doubt that they have made up the 34 point gap between them and Harlan County since last season - but nobody will know for sure until they play each other. Harlan County would have been unbeaten if they had played HC's schedule but Larkey decided to upgrade the schedule this season. I think that his decision will pay off but we will soon see.

I think Harlan County should win the region considering Madison Southern is pretty much a one man show and well over half Pulaski's starters are freshmen and sophomores. It would not be a under achievement if Pulaski or Madison Southern didn't win the region it would be for Harlan County.

So, if Madison Southern comes out and beats Harlan County, and beats them pretty good, will your complete logic change?
We all know PC and MS had a 21-18 game and are pretty even, but lets face it, JC and Belfry are run teams that play good defense that bends but dont brake. PC and MS are different. PC is an air it out team, and HC cant stop the pass. Nobody in the mountains can. PC and Hall will throw for a lot of yards on HC assuming HC gets by MS.
I know it sounds like im exaggerating, because i usually do to get folks riled up, but Harris is the best high school back ive ever seen. At first i thought it was a lot of hype with not much backing, but believe me when i say theres no hype. For the poster who commented that Harris would be held to less than 50 yards, hes an idiot. Harris will have that on 1 or 2 runs.
Theres not a kid east of I-75 that could catch him and tackle him from behind.
HC will really struggle this week. With it at HC, it will be a close game, but I dont know that HC can stop MS.

But, except for scheduling three teams that are better than any team on either Madison Southern's or Pulaski County's schedule and losing those games, I don't see where much has changed since last season when Harlan County won the regional title. They were favored to repeat this season before losing to Belfry and they are peaking as the playoffs start.

What has changed at Pulaski County and Madison Southern to make you believe that both teams have leapfrogged Harlan County this season? Are the coaches different or are they using radically different offenses?

Again, I believe Harlan Co. has more team talent and experience than any other program in the region. I can not see anyone in the region playing within two TD's of them. Harris may get his next Friday, but they will be hard yards.

SScore.of PC v Ms game a lot closer then it was. Pc threw pick late that led to Ms staying in game. Was 21 10
When Hines got greedy. Also, Pc got a bs fumble call that should of been a TD. So anyone who saw the game with any sense knows Pc dominated ms. Score was more like 28 10 or even 35 10 pc.

I will tell you all right now I'll bet this months pay check that Harris has more than 50 yards, whoever that goon is needs to get his head checked. As for the game itself I think Harlan is a 10 point favorite going in and I have seen every Southern game this year but 1. That being said I think you all are underestimating Madison Southern's defense. Those boys FLY to the ball and will knock you out. Their offensive line is the biggest question but are quick that is why they zone block to get Damien loose. Southern added a wrinkle to their offense this past Friday that Harlan should worry about but only did it twice and if they use this Harlan may be way over matched due to the speed game. Other than Bowling Green Southern may have more speed than anybody in 5A. Like I said Harlan is the favorite, but my prediction is Madison Southern will leave Harlan alive!

I think MS wins in a very close game.
I do however think PC would beat HC by 2-3TD's.
I guess we will find out over the next two weeks

The HC-JC game had a running clock early in the 2nd quarter. Unless MS or PC dominates HC, your season long claim that PC is the best team in eastern Kentucky will remain baseless. Looking at the scores involving common opponents, I see nothing to suggest that PC is a 2 or 3 TD favorite over PC. They have just played a weaker schedule than Harlan County, that's all.

I can understand GUT saying PC is better than HC, after all we are entitled to our opinions, but to say 2-3 TD's better? Come on man. So you're telling me they are 50+ points better than last year? I mean HC did beat them by 34 last year, and throw in your 2-3 TD win, that's alot to make up in one year. I'll give you it will be a good game, and either team could come out on top, but your thought process is really off this week. I tried to stay out of it, and just worry about MS, but i'm a fan and i can look forward a little, as for MS well we will just have to see, and when i win the av bet with you, you are gonna pay..lol..If you hold up to the bet, I'M STILL WAITING ON MY HOT DOGS nicker: HC will be ready for the one man show next week, and yes Harris will do what he does, but in the end, HC is just too physical for MS..
11-10-2013, 09:52 AM
My take on this one, Harris gets in the neighborhood of 200 yards and a couple of scores, he is an amazing talent. But HC grinds them down with their physical style and wins 28-16.
11-10-2013, 10:14 AM
The problem will not be the bears stopping Harris, it will be the MS defense stopping Whitehead and company.
As long as the bears keep the penalty's down they will win. They can't hurt themselves with drive killing holding and motion penalties.

Looking forward to the challenge that Madison will bring to the Mountains. The weather could be very cold and possible snow on the turf. The Black Bears defense has been looking very good the past couple weeks. Going to be a great atmosphere and should be a great ball game.
