How big is Whitehead this year? Looked like he lost 50 pounds
when I watched him vs Belfry.

I know this team will take this week, get their heads right, get some fundamentals taken care of, like hanging onto the ball. The problems we have can be fixed, and these kids have the hearts to get it done. They know their season starts when LCC comes to town in two weeks...

Greeneville will make the drive to Harlan County next year.

I know some prob wonder why a belfry fan even posts on other teams forums but I must say ever since the belfry/ Harlan co. Game I have kept up with the bears. Loved the facilities and what fans I have talked to are extremely nice (GRANNYBEAR). That being said like most have already let the greeneville fans have it. Don't rub salt in the wounds. By saying it should have been 70-0 really shows how conceited you are. By the sound of the game if Harlan Co. Would have held on to the ball it could have been a very diff game. Good luck bears. Keep your head up and keep pounding away. MOUNTAIN PRIDE!!!!

I am still proud of our Black Bears. They will be fine. Greeneville is a very good team. Not as good as Johnson Central but still good none the less. Our boys played as a team, they lost as a team and they will win out as a team. Go Black Bears!!

barb Wrote:Don't be obtuse...HC could not stop Greeneville from scoring with their defense hobbled on the ends. If both teams had executed on offense the outcome would have been the same. Finchum just plain picked the Filthy Animals apart and they were so gassed at half-time that the Devils were pounding 160 lb backs up the middle. Greeneville controlled the line of scrimmage. Period.
If you were there then you did not see our Black Bears at their best. We really are better than we played Friday night. You will hear about us as we make our way through the rest of the season and the playoffs. We just need our confidence back and the coaches will see to it that happens.
Congratulations on the win Greeneville, I am originally a TN girl and I know how good Fulton is and has always been. You have a good team. Great QB, he plays smart!!

After watching Harlan play Cooper last year, I could see these
problems happening. Coach Larkey is great but he needs to air it
out more on first or second down. I like the TE Reverse but its getting
old. I hope Harlan makes some adjustments and starts playing
up to their potential. They should of been playing in the State Championship
last season.

If the Bears can't control the line of scrimmage they struggle. That is Coach Larkey's bread and butter.

You mean while you sat comfortably in the stands,in your armchair , watching Harlan County battling in the state semi finals, you "saw these problems happening"? Most schools only dream of going that far in the playoffs. The Black Bears aren't content and want to go further. The real season begins now in district games. Bears have taken some tough licks. They'll be better for it come the playoffs. Sit back and watch.

I have just read a couple of posts here and all I have to say is BELFRY and JC would beat Greeneville's ASS. Censor me BGR I really don't care, but Greeneville couldn't carry Belfry's or JC jock. HC has to regroup over the next two weeks and get ready for the real season....forget Greeneville, forget Belfry and forget JC and look forward to their goal and that is to get to BG. These kids can't get down on themselves and WE sure can't! Whether you like the coaching or not we still HAVE to stay positive for OUR kids! I do understand frustrations, but it is what it is. Coach Larkey hasn't won almost 300 wins for nothing. I know I am getting ready to piss my Black Bear family off, but I just feel in my heart I need to say this "shut the bitching up about coaching and this and that" and get behind our kids and let's get to BG. This is coming from someone who wishes we would throw it more especially early in the series and not 3rd and long but hell, WE HAVE TO GET BEHIND THIS TEAM IN A VERY VOLATILE TIME!!!!!!!

To say something that is just stupid. Who knows who would win between those teams. GREENEVILLE didn't play to there full potential in this game. Yet they still killed HC thanks to a lot of turnovers but I grant defense with a lot of the mental part of those TO's. Greeneville won big and that's it. Was that Harlan county's biggest loss ever?
09-29-2013, 09:41 PM
Mr. Greenville, we have all heard numerous times how good the great Greenville team is and how they didn't play up to their potential and they should have won by 70. Why don't you go back to the Tennessee message boards and toot your own horn and bless them with your presence. You guys caught a team that is going through some internal problems and made yourselves look good. There are at least 20 Kentucky teams that would wear Greenville out, so don't let your head explode with pride.

Teams in KY that could beat Greenville.
1. Ft. Thomas Highlands
2. Trinity
3. Bowling Green
4. ST. X
That's the only 4 teams that I would put my money on that could beat Greenville.
There probably are t 20 teams in Ky that could beat Greenville. That's the
worst beat down I have ever saw Harlan County take.

I have to agree with Ringo on this one.
I do think there are other teams in the state that could play with Greeneville and it would be a competetive game, but IMO, these four would be the only clear winners.
I know Bears fans like bearclaw are upset right now, but take it for what its worth. Belfry and JC may be able to compete with Greeneville, but I dont know that they would beat them.
Its a phenomenon across this state right now. Its not that TN high school football is better, its just that KY football is really down across the board this year. I definitely wouldnt look at the loss to Greeneville as a bad thing, nor the losses to Belfry and JC. All of them have had tremendous success, and its a 100% certain that HC will not have to face these teams in the playoffs.
Its time for HC to start looking at district play, where, lets face it, the Bears wont even be challenged. PCC might be competetive for a quarter, LCC cant even handle Somerset, and Whitley is having there worst year in the past 30 years.
Its very important that HC be prepared for the playoffs and a very good district 7. Im not sure ive ever seen 3 teams out of that district be that good in the same year. All of them bring different styles, as did the three teams HC lost to.
Its time to move forward for HC. Once you get out of the region your only one game away from playing in Bowling Green and thats the ultimate goal.

Harlan county going to bowling green. I don't think so. Maybe if they play in 2A good chance.

Was Greenville just that good, or has Harlan County just lost "it" the past two weeks? I hear of troubles on that team, may be what these recent losses are stemming from.

There are no troubles.
The team is actually very high spirited and the coaches have told them what is happening. Im sure they arent happy about getting beat in the 3 games and not scoring like they have in past but i have heard coaches let players know that they are facing the best competition around to get ready for the big goal, Bowling Green. The players have a great attitude, sure they are down about getting beat but they know it counts in 2 weeks and all will be forgotten except the lesson of defeat. Go Black Bears!
They could have beaten Belfry, things just didnt go the right way and Belfry as an excellent team did willed theirselves to a win. No chance against JC or Greeneville, they were too good and the fumbles which everybody backer has fumbled helped none at all to but those two teams are head and shoulders better than us at this point. Not many schools will beat Greeneville this year in Tn or Ky. Maybe only the 5 listed above IMO.

I was just tired of that foreigner rubbing it in. I know they lost, but I don't want to hear a fan of theirs say they could have won by 70 points. Not very classy.
09-30-2013, 04:50 PM
If they could have won by 70 then it's a pretty safe bet they would have. People who get on here and talk trash like that are the same ones who get on here after a loss and talk and talk and talk. Mind you, that what their really saying is that their team never loses. It's always something else that caused them to get beat. That's the way it is. I seen it 100 times

I think Scott County is the 2nd or 3rd best team in KY this year.

I'd say you are right on Rojas They took T to the wire last year.

When you got people within the program that can't wait until the season is over and people talking about hanging it up after this season and talk about free for alls after games you have problems whether you want to admit or not.
