Lol, In college basketball I just enjoy watching all the great coaches and learning. But I like seeing UK win National Titles in Bball.
I hate Duke and North Carolina so doesn't that make me a UK fan. Lol

My biggest disappointment in this game was Archie Goodwin. We all know he is athletic. He don't need to prove it. He needs to show he can run a team. And pass. The PG play is terrible. Harrow is t that good either. Lol sons inability to keep up with these other guys hurts on defense. But he don't care to try to run the point. Noel needs to get stronger, point blank. The switching off screens was executed poorly. Back door cuts were there all night. And wiltjer, I don't even know what to say about this guy. He can shoot if he's wide open, if not, well.....
On a side note it is hard to beat a team that is shooting over 50% from 3. And hitting everything they throw up.

Good lord people - CHILL!!! Lots of things that are easy to pick apart, but hats off to The Golden Domers, their transition defense was AMAZING! Starting 2 Seniors, 2 Juniors, 1 Sophomore - they were able to withstand their own early poor shooting to compose themselves and put on a great effort for the remainder of the half. They made some pretty incredible shots with defenders in their face. Like I said, hats off to Notre Dame.
As for Noel, the one thing you cannot teach is hands. I really like the kid, but he is more Roberto Duran than Ali because of his Hands of Stone! The young man is constantly losing the rebound battles to players he has no business losing to. Will he be a really good college player, yes! But to expect him to come close to Anthony Davis was never in the cards! Give him time to develop into his own game and take off YOUR expectations for him!

It's November and people are freaking out. I never expected UK to win honestly, I just wish they would have competed a little bit better. Congrats to Notre Dame, they looked really good on both ends last night. I'd like to see a rematch in March, UK might not win then, but it would be a much better game.

As much as you and I have gone at it in the political forum, 4_real, I will say that you could not have given a more accurate assessment as you have in every one of your posts here.
UK proceeded into a hostile environment at Notre Dame and gave a poor effort. The only one that played well was Mays. This team was rated too high to start the season. Remember that this is a much different scenario from last year and even the prior years under Calipari. The only player returning from last year that played is Wiltjer, and we are still in the process of implementing several new players into the system, most of whom have barely been out of high school six months. The only upperclassmen we have are transfers in Mays and Harrow, both of whom are experienced, but have not played a game in the system until this year, and have not played with anybody on the current roster until this season. This cast has nobody other than Wiltjer that played a heavy amount in Calipari's system.
Think back two years ago to the Maui Invitational with the Knight, Jones, and Harrellson team. They played a very good UConn team and got slaughtered. The 84-67 final to that game didn't do justice to the fact that they were down 20+ for most of the game. That team had several times early in the year where they would score, and then not get back on defense right afterward. Teams were able to get several points early in the year against Kentucky by catching them sleeping defensively after they scored. While there are some things about this team that make me cringe when they play, they are still very young and are going to struggle early on. The Knight team was young as well, but at least Knight, Liggins, and Harrellson both had a year under their belt in Calipari's system and multiple years playing college ball. I do feel that at this point that the current group is ahead of where Knight, Jones, and company were two years ago.
Each year Calipari has been at Kentucky, he has emphasized patience at the beginning of the season. That is what we need to have right now. This team is going to take a few bruises, and probably more bruises than Calipari's previous teams. What matters is that they are playing great ball going into March. They may not live up to that #3, or #8 ranking right now, but by then they will be winning games by more than just their talent alone.

The main problem I see in our two losses is no shooters. You can't break a zone defense without guys who can make the 3 all we have is wiltjer and he cannot create he has to catch and shoot. Teams are going to zone us to death until we prove we can make shots.

Here's what UK's problem is:
09 -10: Patrick Patterson
10 -11: Josh Harrelson
11 -12: Darius Miller
12 - 13: ???????
what Patterson, Harrelson, and Miller were for their teams were talented, seasoned veterans that played a lot of minutes at Kentucky. those guys helped those talented freshmen ease into a college basketball season, teaching them what to expect playing at UK and how to handle yourself on the road, and why teamwork is crucial to winning in college. UK doesn't have that guy this year

he's not a seasoned veteran, this is 1st year where he gets the chance to do work each game. And no offense to Polson, he's a great guy, but if that's the upperclassman UK is leaning on for experience at UK, then that's not good
those other guys i mentioned had some time going through the ups and downs in a game. Polson's hasn't had that before this season

Julius Mays is the most experienced guy on this team if he can take that leadership role we're set.

I dont think anyone else caught that.
Gotta say though, I'm kinda impressed with what Polson has done so far..
And really I haven't expected much from him.
