Junior running back Trinity Carr rushed 13 times for 116 yards and two touchdowns and helped Belfry reach the class 3A state championship game for the third consecutive year in its 35-10 win over Bourbon Co. on Friday night.

Fellow junior Austin Hatfield added 134 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries for the Pirates (12-2), who handed the Colonels (13-1) their first loss of the season.

The Pirates will meet Central, an 18-13 winner over Monroe County, on Friday, Nov. 30 at Houchens Stadium in Bowling Green at 7 p.m.

It will be the third consecutive season the teams have met in the championship game.

The Yellowjackets won the first two meetings, 46-7 in 2010 and 15-14 last season.

the pirates played a good game tonight. the beauty of this team is that the opposing team never knows who is going to have a big game, but one thing the pirate faithful know for sure is that the offensive line is going to bring it EVERY GAME. gettum pirates!!!!

Bourbon had no answer defensively. Belfry established the fullback by running SO. Hatfield on 4 straight carries to start the game. When that was so effective, it opened up the Option pitch and second man through. At times it seems like Bourbon was unable to locate the ballcarrier for a second. Of course, the Belfry backs used that advantage and ran very physical. Hatfield and Carr both were impressive, and Robinson ran the ball as good as I have seen him all year. Warren ran the show efficiently. There were a few plays in the second half where it looked like the line splits were 5 feet between gaurd and tackle! COMPLETE domination by the Belfry O-line. Great props to that group. When Bourbon closed to 14-10, they answered with an 80 yard drive by just blowing Bourbon off the ball.

Defensively, it was a fanstastic team effort. Everyone played well but Ghormley and Warren really played outstanding ball. Thacker, Mullins, and Barnes all stepped up at various big moments. Everytime there was a big moment in the game, Belfry upped their game. Congrats to the Coaches also. You could tell Belfry was prepared and focused.

Lets Give Central Hell! TongueirateSho

FBALL Wrote:Hopkins is one of the best in the state. But football is THE team sport and Belfry has a much better team.
Sorry about that did not mean to hit a nerve. I just didnt see where Hopkins was a 100 yrds plus rusher per game. He may be the best kid ever but evidently hasnt been up against much. Its hard to take one or two play makers and call yourself #1 in class 3a state. On the other hand we have around 11 play makers on both side of the ball. So true. If we had not fumbled all night the score would have been way worse. I also told ya if these bourbon co boys had to play both sides of the ball they would never hold up to Belfrys D-line and the O-line these boys come to play and will push you around all night. Belfry will beat central at state this year.

it replied to the wrong person sorry

Congrats again to the Pirates on another dominating performance.:worthy: Bourbon has a fine team and a lot of very good athletes, but definately not on the level with Belfry. Very well played on both sides of the ball. Bourbon took momentum in at half by cutting score to 14-7, after recovering fumble and driving field eating clock all the way to endzone. That right there was a potential 14 point swing. They come out after half having looked to adjusted to game. After that, BELFRY took over. :worthy: Congrats again Pirates.

Much respect for Bourbon Co and their fans...As a member of the Angry Red...Loud and Proud...You guys were by far the best fan crowd that we have seen! Great Job!
