16th Region preseason picks?
#31
Sadly, the above is true. A bad team from the 16th can go while another good team is left out.
#32
Teams playing the best come end of february, have the best chance !!! The 16th will do fine this year. Last year a lot of good teams from other regions were beat out in districts , i am guessing that why the system works the way it does.
#33
Morgan will be in contention, returns everyone with some help of foreigners (puerto rico) 6'1 point guard and (serbia) 6'8 center

Stop traffic! The team that is playing the best come tournament time has the best chance to win the tournament? Did you come up with that on your own?

The new kids for morgan county are they going to get to play, just wondering.

Both are already eligible for this season

A good big man will go a long way in this region. If that kid at Morgan is pretty good, he will do fine with a serious lack of other big men in the area to content with.

Trevor Newsome of Rowan County is one player I really see stepping up to the plate this year. He's been overshadowed over the past couple of years by big name players but this year is HIS time to shine. I see him not letting RC lose this year. Mr. Basketball Candidate for sure.

Morgan County had to recruit from another country. No one would move a good athlete their to play for them. Without out their new recruits they might wint 6 games. With the recruits they may be a .500 team. So it is 2 good players and what they had last year. That adds up to 2 good players to defend.

Fleming County will be tough to beat with the players they return.

Rowan County will be a tougher team than most are giving them credit for this year.

Ashland will be tough at home for obvious reasons no matter who they lost.

And unless some really good players have moved in for the other schools, they will be about the same as last year.

Bath will struggle, Raceland will only be tough at home. Boyd will be competitive. Lewis will hang in most games but lose at the end. Menifee will...well.

No power house teams in the 16th but several quality teams at the top and it will come down to tournament time again to decide the better team.

My last post was obviously not true. Average player at best.

I wouldn't disrespect Morgan, cause as the old saying goes "The same things that made you laugh, can make ya cry." This team has the potential from the 1man to the water boy to sweep their district, and run into the regional tournament with a full head of steam. You can't deny talent...and they have it.

Russell must not be top 10 Smile

I like Rowan's chances. They have a great backcourt and big Matt Brown (6' 11"-7') They'll be tough to beat. Plus, Matt Brown has put on some power according to rumors.
#46
Rowan will be a .500 team. Or thereabouts.

Morgan County has the capabality to make a deep run. With the return of Seniors; Jordan Whitt (6'1, 190), Kaden Ross (6'2, 175), and Alex Moore (6'0 180), the return of Freshman guard Jordan Perry. And the additions of two foreign exchange students: Samuel Lozada (6'2, 185, Point Guard, Puerto Rico) and Aleksandar Malinic (6'10, 250, Center, Serbia)
#48
Rowan and Ashland will hover around .500 this year....Fleming and Boyd are the teams to beat. Russell will also be solid.

**Note - Kyle Skaggs was injured pretty badly in Tuesday's practice. He has a "hyphema" in one of his eyes. It's caused from a direct, solid hit he took right on the eyeball. He's fortunate to have not lost his sight. Probably looking at around 3 weeks to heal up from this, then a little time to get used to wearing a shield.

Same can be said for the sorry 9th.

Glad to see Morgan County decided to RECRUIT like some of the other schools do. Sad that this is only way Morgan County can put out any athletic team that is competitive. This is no different than the East Ridge, Ray Kosanga deal. Sad that Morgan County has stooped this low.

Lizzard: Recruit? The Puerto Rican, is adopted by a family in Morgan County to provide him with more opportunities. While The Serbian is part of the Foreign exchange program.

Lets see Puerto Rico is know for great baseball players and this family just so happens to adopt a kid that is a supposed to be a great basketball player. Hmm imagine that.

And oh yeah, the Serbian kid just happens to be 6' 10'. I bet that was not noticed on his application to be an exchange student.

Come on just admit it. Even though KHSAA in their great wisdom can't see it, just admit it. Morgan County has been in the cellar for years in all sports and this was a way to get some talent and maybe win a game or two.

Im not saying others have not done the same thing. Just saying everyone can read between the lines. Hey Bath County tried it with the kid from England.

:ChairHit: :please:

Ok, I'll settle this. When it comes to the adopted puerto rica. This family adopted him through a church program. And when it comes to the foreign exchange student from Serbia, the individual has to apply when they're much younger, and have to learn English at a proficient level long before they can come. Basketball talent had no bearing on their decisions to come to America. They're just here to take advantage of the opportunities that they have been given, just like anyone from a 3rd world country would.
#54
This gets better and better. Now Serbia is a third world country.
#55
I know something about the exchange program and it's incomprehensible that 6'8" kids keep showing up in West Liberty.
#56
who cares about foreign players when you have Huntington Wva.
#57
I love how when anyone gets goo it's cause they recruit. Guess what Morgan has won some regions and districts before this is no big deal. I always found them class acts when I was in school.

If you'd like to look at poverty rates in Serbia, be my guest. The Serb that came to America (Morgan County High) last year slept on a twin sized bed with his younger brother who was 6'2". They lived in a apartment the same size as a average living room. So yea, I would classify Serbia as somewhat of a third world country.

I did look them up. You're wrong. You can find for more horrid conditions than bunking with your brother in this country.

Here's the third world stats for you,

Serbia is classed as an upper-middle income economy.[139] GDP (PPP) for 2012 is estimated at $80.282 billion[140] or $10,811 per capita (PPP). GDP per capita stood at 35% of the EU average in 2011.[141]

You're gonna have to sing a different song about Serbia. You may have a better shot at selling the poor Puerto Rican than the Serb. If you're feeling ambivalent, maybe you should house one of the short Serbs. Now that would be a real philanthropy.

Coming from the person who has more than likely never had to share a bed, has a computer, and if you have any job at all have a personal worth of over $10,000. You take for granted (or your ignorance and knowledge inhibits you from knowing this) Serbia was just a small province of Yugoslavia, a socialist republic, until 1999 and continued to be involved in a active civil war until '03/'04, and still has disputes with other former Yugoslavic nations. I know all this because i took the time to research the home place of my brother, Jagos Lasic, who took advantage of a foreign exchange program last year to come to America. We as Americans take for granted the opportunities we possess. So lay off the Serb and Puerto Rican, they're just here to take advantage of a great opportunity that they have been given. One me, you and everyone else takes for granted. Thank you.
