64, you old fart, check your hearing.nicker: MayfieldCardinalwhatever, said we lost all of our line.:thanks: I pointed out that we did not. We have our starting center back and 2 or 3 others that were on the line at the state championship.:thanks: I aint making excuses. I was just pointing out that the statement was not correct.:thanks: I think we are better on offense this year than last, much better. I think our defense has given up a little more but, face it, our schedule was much tougher.:redboxer: I think we will be just fine, I just dont want anyone saying we are by far #1. Until they loose Hazard is still #1 and we should pay them their respect.:welcome: We will see what happens, so get your popcorn as some guy that used to play for my beloved Cowboys would say.

Bac, we appreciate that but we would rather everyone rank us at #10 right now. We don't want the big chip of that #1 rank going into the playoffs. We would rather have it at the end.

The truth of the matter is that we are certainly #1 ranked right now based on or body of work. Might change or might not but we are deservingly #1 right now or as one of the EKY posters said earlier "Mayfield- arguably the best resume in the State pound for pound." I like this statement

How do you have hazard over Fairview? Hazard lost 2 games to average teams, and barely beat Pineville. But it's all good if you get past Williamsburg, we will see you in WestWood

Hazard's spot in the rankings is partially due to their tradition. They have been at or near the top of Class A for a number of years. Fairview is up and coming, if the rise continues, they will someday get that respect as well.

Mayfield is the clear cut #1 and no one can say it other wise.. I think my list of the top 10 is pretty accurate but anyone can slid in there at the 9 or 10 spot but I put Pikeville at 10 because theyve won 5 straight..
10-30-2012, 08:06 AM
Hazard can tell you that Pikeville can be trouble come playoff time.
10-30-2012, 08:12 AM
^ Yes and Pikeville was dangerously good last year as well. Senior Dominated for them..
10-30-2012, 01:33 PM
I will be honest with yall, at the beginning of the season, I was thinking that Pikeville may just be the team to beat out of the east because of how well they did in the playoffs last year.

Got to agree with you. 55 is just trying to be humble and down play things a little. The second the season started what happened last year doesnt matter towards this year. That being said Hazard has played a much harder schedule than anyone in the East. That is why if some have them higher than Fairview. I believe if Fairview has played the same schedule they would not have faired as well.

Well. Lex Christ is down but still in the top 10 in 2a. Sommerset is one of the teams that could win 2a. Breathit county is undefeated. Sorry schedule teams who compete in their class and have winning records or are ranked in the top 100 in the state then i will respect ur argument

I still say that Hazard should be given the respect of the champions until someone knocks them off, they won it.:thanks: I will not count them out and I hope my cardinals dont this year.:welcome: I hope for that matter they dont count out Russellville, Frankfort or Beechwood. I would love for us to win it again, but this is playoff time and anything can happen, look at what happened last year.:thanks: We beat the team that everyone had been planning on being the state champs since they were in 8th grade. We then went to state and whether you wanna say it was injuries or overconfidence or both, we still got beat.:thanks: Let's not get too overconfident and lets not write a check that our boys have got to cash.:thanks: Let's, let them do their thing and us back them 100%. Hopefully everything will go the way we think it should and we can win one of these again.:1:

Respect your opinion but in school related sports when you turnover 25 to 35 percent of your roster every year you have to go season by season. Not downplaying Hazard handing us our butt last year but the first kickoff of the first game this season ended what happened last. I dont mind being number 1 i have been a Cardinal since 8th grade and was a part of the elementary football program from 4th to 6th. I have no problem embracing being number one. As for Hazard great year last year got your first trophy and have one a ton of football games the last 5 years. You have cemented your status as a football power. Mayfield is a Dynasty however and I have no problem embracing that. I will give Beechwood that honor in 1a but noone else. Hazard get a couple of titles i will upgrade them but honestly right now pikeville has a better resume for that honor. So as a Cardinal I will understand that a team like Frankfort will challenge us every few years or so and Beechwood will have more great years ahead and epic battles with us unless we get moves to 2a. Til then Beechwood and Mayfield are the standard in 1a til somebody proves otherwise

Red&Blk, read your post.nicker: Its alright to be a Mayfield fan but we aren't the only school out here. You started your post by stating last year is over and then finished it by how much we did last year and beyond. nicker: If last year doesn't matter, then last year doesn't matter, no two ways about it. The bottom line is, it does matter. You and I both know the kids that are still there and played got experience and confidence that carries over to this year. The kids that didn't play last year that are there also got confidence. Confidence is a a very big part of football, just like baseball. I normally back you but we are doing just a little too much horn tooting and not looking objectively. What happened to we don't have to talk it, we play it.

Well i guess i did sound like i contradict a bit. My point being when you start a new season the championship you won last year. Has to be put in the trophy case. Our ranking is based on factors that include strength of schedule and performance this year. However their are some programs that deserve respect for year in year out performance regardless of player turnover. Hazard is getting there and a few of are there. I have no problem being ranked number one this year despite of a well deserving Hazard being 1a champions last year. I have no problem with people considering us being number one this year i believe we earned that. Sorry i know you are a big Texas and Dallas fan. They strut when they have it their past earned them that right despite who may have won NCAA or the Superbowl. If they are playing like a number one team let them be it.

Our coaching staff this year is doing a MUCH better job of keeping our players out of being injured, minus the Warren Central where they about gave us a heart attack keeping Jonathan in the game limping around.

Well the Cowboys have an owner issue.:thanks: The Longhorns need a defense and a defensive coordinator, thanks to some SEC team.nicker: I'm not overconfident about either of those for sure.nicker: I certainly don't want to be overconfident and I dont want our players to be overconfident about the Cardinals either. That's all that I'm saying here. And, like it or not, Hazard is #1 until they are knocked off. You nor I can take that away from them. The only ones that can are our players.:thanks:
