Belfry @ Johnson Central 10/26

Bob Seger Wrote:FYI...You are wrong. Belfry is on the Tug Fork of the Big Sandy River.

I've lived here all my life and NO ONE, I repeat, NO ONE in the TUG RIVER VALLEY ever refers to themselves as living in the Big Sandy area. Why don't we just call the Ohio River the Mississippi, too?

But if it makes you feel better call it whatever you want.

BTW, I'd like to see the Tug River team win, but I think the Levisa Fork squad is a little too strong this year, especially with Johnson questionable & Hatfield just getting over mono.

You all have lived in your own little world for so long, you didn't know there actually was a world outside of Pond Creek. The new Rt. #119 can now lead you out of that darkness and expose to you many wonderous things.

Should be a great game. Haywood will have them ready for JC. However, I think in the end it will be another big win for Central. JC 32 - Belfry 20. ***On another note, I think its great that JC has such a great program, great coach, great facilities, great fans....but man I hate that old scoreboard. Don't be alarmed if the scoreboard displays 19 to G...that just means the score is actually 14 to 6. I really wish we had a new scoreboard and some play clocks.

Maybe someone will sneak in and haul it off! After the season ends.

Win a few games in a row, after decades of Pirate teams pounding JC like a purple waffle, and you guys walk around with your noses up.

I find that funny...but hey, at least your kids can play a little football because you older guys sure couldn't.

Hmmmmm, and what does any of that have to do with you not even having a clue as to where you actually live. We were not even talking football. Were we? Nope. Talk about getting all worked up over nothing. What are you anyways, about 14?....sheesh.

Anyways, if you do want to take a little football, strings and the such, looks like JC has certainly made a case here the last few years now. Doesn't it?

Lol, I think four years ago, last year, and this year these teams have been and are very even. I like Belfry to make it a real game if they hold on to the football. If Justin was playing, I would like Belfry's chances to win a little better.

They definitely have, it's 3-2 JC since the series renewed, but it is hard to believe that JC didn't win some more the previous 25 meetings. But honestly I like the series better now. I think it benefits both teams as long as they stay away from injuries

Yeah it is. They from time to time had some pretty good teams. Are you old enough to remember the '76 game when JC had to have a police escort out of Belfry and all of the commotion that took place after what appeared to be a last seconds game winning FG was called no good by the officials?

Jesus for a team who has probably kicked as many field goals in the team's history as you can count on your fingers and toes,,, JC sure has a rich tradition of controversial Field Goals HAHA

What I like about playing JC at the end of the year is under the current alignment Belfry would have to reach the State Finals to find a team with as good of a running game.

I'm telling you that we'll line up our alumni against your alumni and kick y'all's ass.

And that all our alumni grew up on the Tug River, not the damn Big Sandy.

The past at JC was weak. Matney and the administration have corrected that. As a JC fan I have nothing but repect for Belfrey.

What has happened in years past is just good for those that played. They have nothing to do with today. Your past means nothing, you are only as good as you are in the present. What has happened in years past will not win the game tomorrow night, or any in the future, you have to win in the present.

We JC fans do walk around with our nose in the air, it is called Eagle Pride. We are earing it in the present. Slam our past programs and see how many points that will score for you tomorrow night. Welcome to Eagle Pride and The Nest.

I think if I am correct Pond Creek goes into the Tug Fork, then the Tug Fork goes into the ........Big Sandy River at Louisa. Get out more and see what you are missing!

JC has got better at Football thanks too a Belfry Grad. IMO the Belfry teams of the 80's were bigger and better than the Belfry teams of recent years. That 86' Belfry team was a mean Bunch. The 1989 Belfry team was a heck of good team too. I wld take them over any of the recent finals teams. JC wouldn't hire a decent coach in the 80's. Belfry fans take great coaching for granted, they have had Haywood for all these years, In 1987 or 1988 JC had a very talented group of kids that included Chris Deaton. Who did the JC school system hire as head coach??? They hired Steve Trimble a guy that had never been a head coach at the varsity leval, who never played College football. Trimble replaced Ron Wells who also had never been a Head Coach at the HS leval before. I just tell you Belfry fans that Johnson Co has and will keep on producing more and better athletes than the Belfry area has and does. Back in the 80's some of the top Johnson CO football players like all- SEC Joey Coach went to Paintsville HS and many more, but now they are staying in the JC program and getting coached by a Great Coach. So those days of Belfry dominating JC are over. I will say this,,, back in the 80's at JC one had to live in the state of Kentucky to play at JC and one also had to make passing grades to compete in any sport. BTW according to the KHSAA JC does own a win over Belfry in the 80's the 1989 Belfry team used ineligible players in the game vs JC. How many times did belfry get away with this? I would just about bet that JC had more college players in the 80's then Belfry did. Weedeating, weightlifting and car washing will not help the ACT score much. I can tell that geography is not a popular subject at Belfry HS. Learn to read a map Belfry fans. What do you guys think the TUG FORK means?? It is not the Tug Fork of the Nile river.

I love Bluegrassrivals just for the fun I get out of listening to all the old Pro's about the glory days.Remember the older we get ,the better we were, especially as all the witnesse's die off. You got to love it. Also JC rolls.

Do that and we'll market it as a Kentucky vs West Virginia showdown. Dude close the year book and grow up. Those alumni from years past insn't going to help neither team tonight. Best of luck to both squads tonight.

i am from belfry and i live in the big sandy area. our middle school played in the big sandy
league for some years with jc. so why not have a battle in the big sandy. where these boys
played each other before.

I'd say that too if I had your alumni.

Bob Seger, Don Carlos, M&M, and anybody else from JC who has taken ass whipping after ass whipping over the years, yet feels the need to be boastful & arrogant over winning 3 in a row...

You're welcome.
