Need Carr or Hatfield too REALLY step up at fb. I don't have too much concern about Qb, but someone has to come sorta close to Willis at FB. Big shoes to fill for sure, but critical.

very true, and hopefully justin has some size to him this year, becuase last 2 years he has been getting hurt, after taking all those hits, and josh or whom ever plays the other hb spot needs to step up and take pressure off justin..

Trenity Carr is going to be a good part of this team because of versatility. He'll probably punt and kick, first of all, and then rotate in at halfback and if Hatfields needs a break he'll also see time at fullback. He may even play as a slot reciever! (His car just passed by outside my window as I typed this, weird) On defense, he can play DE, maybe even safety.
Should have a pretty solid stable of halfbacks, Johnson brings a year of experience with ridiculous elusiveness and quickness, Robinson brings 2 years of experience and is the best blocker you'll see at HB, Carr is a natural athlete who with added size should do a better job of getting up the field, and Davontae Dari is pretty fast and considerably bigger than Justin. Having four guys trusted to carry the ball plus Austin Hatfield at fullback will mean having men fresh, makes a HUGE difference. As solid as Dixon was last year, I think the Robinson-Johnson-Dari-Carr backfield is as strong as Robinson-Johnson-Dixon. Time will tell, I'm really excited. Ten days until they suit up!

Played 7 on 7 last night against Hazard. Team looked good overall. Messer caught a couple of TD's, probably the most dominant player on the field. Thacker did a pretty good job of covering Olinger. Belfry receivers dropped too many balls, that's a serious area of improvement.

if they dont use Messer alot this year to keep teams honest, he can catch about anything and has the size advantage, then its going to end up like the last 2 yrs, runner up, saying before season starts..

Everytime you post, it seems to make my head spin. I would think that Phillip Haywood knows what he's doing. Granted he's not Arkansas State's official Eastern Kentucky recruiter like you are :thatsfunn but he is the state's all time leader in wins.

sorry i am not perfect, and i know who coach Haywood is, my ex step son played for him, and i lived in Belfry for 8 yrs, maybe this post will help your head slow down, and only reason why i said anything about Tony and Arkansas State is i know he can play and is young man with good charcter, and would fit in fine on the Redwolves, and when Tony stayed at my house, you couldnt ask for a better young man, and he stayed there alot...

Interesting question. Francisco stands about 6'0, and weighs in at 205. He is one of the faster kids on the team I suspect about a 4.7 40... so the question will be what position can he NOT play?

Sounds like OLB/DE

If his size was previously listed accurately, he could help also as a second TE, even a DT in the mold of a Corey Coleman/Howie Dotson type player.
I seem to recall that he played a bit early in 10. I specifically recall him in the game vs Pburg week 0. Maybe he was injured or quit.
No matter. Welcome back to the young man. Hope he is willing to commit!

Zack decided to sit last season out to rest because he had planned to focus on baseball but missed the game of football. He's gotten a ton stronger and faster. Both halfbacks return and we won't run solid sets too much so he may play DE and WR. We'll see starting Monday.

Zack's return is a big time boost for the pirates. pure athlete with smarts. wherever they decide to play him he will start. I would think safety but it might be olb, he could start halfback very easy. also he will be the back up qb. lot of ball player this young man brings. if he is 205 may be fb

No pads so you can't tell much, but there are some fast guys out there including Johnson, Dari, Carr, Francisco, Hayden Hatfield, and some others. One question I can answer is the leadership, because Zach Thacker and Sani Warren have stood out above all in the first two days. Excellent leaders. Even saw some flashes of good leadership from junior Timmy May yesterday.

i figured Messer would be a leader.

On the field, yes. I'm speaking verbally and have caught my eye. Not saying Tony is not.

Another 7 on 7 yesterday, this time @ Hazard. If I hear any updates I'll let you know.
Worth noting that Davontae Dari (One of the top 3 fastest Pirates now, for the record) has been practicing corner. Talented kid who may get a look at the spot so Sani Warren doesn't play both ways.

Belfry will have multiple threats...this team with Warren,Hatfield,Johnson,Robinson,Carr,Messer, devonte, and a whole bunch of up and coming's could be the ticket...If these young men get it together early, could be the ones that bring home the gold in 3a
