Stardust vs. WideRight05 - I think Stardust brings one of the best offenses onto the field at any given time. However, I think WideRight05 is just too good, and too dominant.
WideRight05 - 42
Stardust - 21
Ok, in all seriousness...
1. Highlands vs. Trinity - #1 team in the nation Trinity taking on arguably the second best team in the state behind them. These two teams scrimmaged each other this year with Trinity winning handily - but it would be an interesting matchup given the situations that surround the two schools.
2. Highlands vs. BG - Okay, yeah, I'm biased.
Given that it would have been a dandy to see these two goliaths play this year, it still would be an interesting game to see played next year given that both teams return a lot of talent, and have a good shot at repeating as state champions in their classes.
3. Belfry vs. Bell - Besides the names, these two teams play very similar styles of ball - run the ball, grind it out, and play great defense. Both are in contention for the state title in their class every year. Would be a heck of a matchup.
4. (Cov Cath, Highlands) vs. (Ashland, Bell, Belfry, JC) - Any of the teams mentioned in the parenthesis. Travel costs would suck, but it would be interesting to see an NKY/EKY matchup in the regular season. Would ignite a good crowd given the great support both sides have.
5. Lexington Catholic vs. Covington Catholic - Can't remember if these two teams play or not. Either way, it would be a heck of a battle between to EXCELLENT quarterbacks and the great teams that surround them.
6. Trinity vs. (Any Florida or California team) - Need I say more? What a chance for the state to unite and support Trinity.
WideRight05 - 42
Stardust - 21

Im not hatin on you big dog, but Garrard has never been considered a powerhouse by any means.
Most teams will have 1 really good year or 2.
But, the facts are, more than likely, Garrard will fall again.

I agree with you RITG. They need to be more consistent. Wasn't this their first Regional Title. How many district titles has Garrard won?

You guys are missing my point. I was just responding to the thread as to what matchup I would like to see. Yes we may be new to being considered at the "Lion's share of the food chain", but please give us just a little credit for this year. I'm sure Bell Co. and Belfry didn't start out at the top of the food chain either.

We did give respect to Garrard County this year and Garrard even stayed way up in our rankings all year long.
Now, if Garrard does the same thing the next 2 or 3 years in a row, they will really get some respect.

How about Bell and Boyle? Those two had some real classic matchups the past three years when both schools were in 4A. Unfortunate that Bell is in 3A now. Those two teams were fun to watch in the playoffs when they went at it.

into it than what is there, and time will tell. But, there is a couple of factors coming
into play that looks very promising for Garrard.
1) Great Coach,, Mark Scenters. He has made a name for himself and in 4 years has
built a very solid program. This should be the start to those 8 - 9 win seasons.
2) The 2011 Team were out manned and under sized most of the season and somehow
prevailed to the best season in school history. This has stirred up things. Let's face
it,,, No one wants to be apart of a losing program. Garrard has some big and some
very athletic kids walking the halls that I predict will want to be apart of the new
program. This team has laid the ground work for a new tradition.
My prediction is that some of the good players that leave the county will stick around,
and some of those athletes just walking the halls are going to step up. I see a 39 member
team turining into 65 member power house.
Just my thoughts on the future!!!

How does pikeville look this year? havent heard much about them, but harlan has alot of experienced players returning, Ty Saragas is a big threat QB, he has worked very hard in the weight room so far and is over 200 on everything, over 300 on squats. I look for him to have another great year. Also, two linebackers who have stepped up their game this past season. Boggs (63) and Atkins (47), this past season was Atkins' first time playing linebacker, first time playing at all that i know of, and he had a great season, with some gained size on him before the season, hes also a threat. Boggs was All SEKC and All mountain first team D. Could very well exceed many expectations this coming season. Returning as well on both sides of the ball, David Allen, Cody Logan, Eric Young, Demarcus Williams, Dalton Overbay, Dakota Morris. This should be Harlan's Best season yet.

Your correct.
What people look over is that Whitley was top ten in the state in wins for the regular season though the 90's.
Had Whitley not had to play some great Rock and Bell teams in there district through the entire 90's up to 2000, Whitley could of had 7 or 8 more district championships.
Only 2 losing seasons from 1989 to 2004.
When talking about the 2000's Whitley was stuck in 4A as the only mountain schools beside North Laurel, South Laurel, and Johnson Central (for a couple), so of course there was no way for these teams to win a region with what the fayette county schools had in the other side of that region. Mountain football hadnt caught up yet.
Before 89, and Campbell, wins were vary rare at Whitley.
