Belfry @ Garrard Co (State-Semis) 11/25/11
I agree with second point. GC needs to get up and get up quick. It's going
to be an exciting night especially for GC.. Who ever moves on will get my
support for the next one...

Still have to stay with my GC boys... 28 - 20
Jack Lambert Wrote:I'm gonna take Garrard 35 to 28.the only game i've seen Belfry play was against Henry clay on ihigh, and after watching that game i defintely think Garrard can play with Belfry.I know you guys say Belfry has as much speed as Garrard and they may have, but the only Mountain team that i've seen with great team speed year in and year out is Bell county.all the other mountain teams Boyle has played over the years didn't have the speed they thought they had.in no way is this meant as an insult to eastern kentucky football.thier have been some great teams come out of the mountains over the years.I maybe wrong about Belfry's speed i guess i'll find out friday.I just wasn't that impressed with Belfry against a weak Henry clay team.I wish i could have found more video of Belfry to have watched.good luck to both teams i hope for no injuries on either team.who ever wins i'll cheer for against Central.

That was week two.
I think Belfry gets it done on the road by 2 TD's.
To all you Belfry fans i have tons of respect for your team and program, and in no way would i try to disrespect you,but i think you guys are over looking a good Garrard team and not giving them the respect they deserve.it won't suprise me a bit if Belfry wins, but i don't see the blowout most of you are predicting.I've saw alot of teams over the years thru Boyle's 7 state titles that i thought Boyle would blow out and it didn't turn out that way.I guess i've learned the hard way not to over look anyone.

Fair enough.
A lot of talk about the stadium. No, there is not enough room for the fans no room on the sidelines for the teams not enough parking and Lancaster is not ready for all the football fans that come with a 4th round game. BUT this is what high school football is all about, all the blood sweat and tears for a shot to play for a title. So get in where you fit in and enjoy the ride. good luck to both teams and enjoy some mexican karaoke after
Let me say I take Belfry and show you why.
Here you have

Louisville Central

Belfry;Bell;Breathitt

Everyone else.
Get the point?
If you are saying Belfry was better than Bell this season,I don't agree.
Jack Lambert Wrote:If you are saying Belfry was better than Bell this season,I don't agree.

but we wont ever know since they didnt and havent played for years..
Jack Lambert Wrote:If you are saying Belfry was better than Bell this season,I don't agree.

NO you DON'T get the point I guess I'm saying you have like 3 tiers.L.Central then a step down to the "Big 3 B's" then alot of steps down to every one else.(I put em' in alphabetical order if you must know)
Does Garrard Co. have any radio broadcast of the game. I will be in attendance and like to listen to the game.

105.1 fm.
Belfry fans may overlook the talent on this Garrard team, Coach Haywood will not, low scoring game, this Garrard team has good speed and flys to the ball. Belfry in a close one.
Gotta pick the "Angry & Red, Enough Said"! in this one, Belfry has demonstrated throughout their season they have the tools and strength to play at whatever level the competition puts in front of them....With that have been said.......... Belfry comes from a district that most other districts have more weak teams than strong....Just as Breathitt under estimated this Pirate team, you got to play your best game against Belfry to stop them... Turnovers are a killer for any team, Breathitt had a team good enough to beat Belfry, but turnovers killed the Bobcats, Do you blame the turnovers on the Bobcats? or Do you give Belfry the much deserved credit for "CAUSING" the turnovers??? If GC gives up the turnovers......Belfry will have a rematch in BG! IMO, Belfry by 14....
Belfry by 14... Only one thing to say here.. EXPERIENCE... But if the Pirate RB's don't show up and leave it all on the field then it will be a long ride back to Pike County.... Go Big Red!!!
Garrard County hosts Belfry in the 3A semifinals in a game of contrasts. The Golden Lions have never been this far in the playoffs. Belfry has been to the state finals seven times and won three titles. In his 37th year as a head coach, Belfry's Philip Haywood has a state-record 349 victories. In his fourth year as a head coach, Garrard County's Mark Scenters has 26 win

Garrard Co. keeps it close for a half, then the Pirate strength takes over and wins. Belfry 35 Garrard Co. 14

I will say you got everything right in this post except one thing....Breathitt did not underestimate Belfry. We have played them TOO many times to ever do that. They are one of the few teams we respect.I will say Belfry will roll by at least 4 TD's in this game because I don't believe unless Garrard can protect the ball a pass effectively that they stand a chance.I hate the way the new alignment made things turnout.Breathitt and Belfry should have been fighting it out this week as far as I'm concerned. This new alignment just gives false hope to the other region.
How many West Virginia kids are on Belfry's roster?
Bird4Life Wrote:How many West Virginia kids are on Belfry's roster?

How many "Buckeyes" are on your roster?:eyeroll:
Zero!!! Were family, there ALL Belfry boys. Doesn't matter if they moved here from Lancaster, there Belfry Pirates when they pull that red and white jersey over them pads. But to answer your question with a little more info. I would say that 2 boys moved over from Williamson: either one of them starts though. As a fact they hardly ever see the field during varsity games. But if I was you and I was worried about boys from a small school like williamson or Matewan;if you was thinking we had some transfers from there, but no ,theres none from there(Matewan), I wouldn't have to much faith in my own team than. If some reason your team does beat ours than you will have to worry about kids from here and there(Lou Central), but i believe they are a independent school so it doesn't matter as long as they pay,I'm not for sure how there rules are,but i think anybody can go there if they want and nothing you or I can do about it(I may be wrong on this, sorry if I am.Not for sure like i said)
Belfry-28-0.
Bird4Life Wrote:How many West Virginia kids are on Belfry's roster?

To answer this question, two. Our backup safety/3rd WR #2 came from Williamson as the school closed, and a lineman who's not even in the rotation did the same. The rest of these boys have been at Belfry since the Southside/BMS days!
Is this game going to be on television or the radio?
HarleyD Wrote:Is this game going to be on television or the radio?

The game will be broadcast live on www.ekbsports.com That will be 93.1 WDHR Radio in Pikeville,Ky.
OH BOY! It's game day. The hours tick down, I'm sure some of the boys on both sides are recovering from Turkey comas. Pond Creek Nation invades Garrard Co. in what I hear will be standing room only. The stage is set upstart Garrard Co. with an impressive 12-1 record hosts the defending State Runner-Up and legendary Coach Phillip Haywood. A dozen stories are being told tonight and I can't wait to fire up the live stream here in North Atlanta and listen.

Win or Lose the Pirates have been impressive all season. They know the prize and the discipline required to get another shot it. Garrard Co. is playing in the biggest game in school history. Should they win I hope they realize what they will have accomplished. Fort Campbell or more likely Louisville Central will be waiting in Bowling Green next week.

Let's Go Angry Redy!
Forcast in Lancaster is perfect for some football. Todays high 64 with the low tonight of 46. Very good weather for some Great high school football. Good luck to all Eastern Ky football teams....Go Bucs!
Is the game streaming live anywhere on the internet or is it radio only ?
