IDk how many times I have had to explain to Johnson Central fans that Paintsville is a public school. Just like central the only difference is that it is in a independent distric not affiliated with the county.
And guys Im not trying to say Paintsille is almighty over Johnson central. All I am saying is that this year and last year. (Two years hence the term couple) Paintsville has dominated johnson central. Football, Basketball, and baseball are not the only sports these schools play. Once more as of right now Paintsville is 6-1 in varsity level competitions with johnson central. Which is very impressive when you consider Paintsville is somewhere around 1/3 the size of central. Paintsville has 260 or so kids in the high school. I have no idea how many kids central has. Last year the girls baskebtball team won both games against central, Softball, and volleyball lost both. boys basketball split. and Baseball won both. Girls soccer went 2-1 against central, with the boys going 2-1 as well that puts varsity level competition between the two the last TWO years at 15-9 in Paintsville's favor. The two years before that where some of the worst in tiger sports history. So now that paintsville is somewhat back on its feet we are more than holding our own with the school across the creek.

Quite frankly I have nothing but respect for Johnson Central, They are a rival but I do not hate them like I do some schools. However I will defend Paintsville when someone says something about our athletic program. Especially when they state something along the lines of us needing to consolidate with Central.

You also had the classic "You Know" and "You Wish" shirts. The shirts Johnson central band made making fun of BMR. My favorite though was the shirt talking about central's million dollar field with the wrong eagle on it. A bald eagle is not a Golden eagle lol. Itd be like us painting a lion on our field. I love a good rivalry.

I'm fully aware of the term "couple." I just simply dated back to the 2008 school year to include the last Apple Bowl. Also, this school year isn't over yet so that isn't exactly a "couple" of years either. 1.5 is not the same as 2, which is what is required for a "couple" to exist.

But we had a winning record in soccer, Split the series in boys basketball, and havent lost in girls basketball to them since 09. Add in winning both times in baseball with one of them being a mercy rule win. So call that what you will but I will say it is pretty damn good against a school three times our size. There is a legitimate possibilty Johnson central won't beat Paintsville at anything else this year, except boys basketball. Which will probably be a split series. Quite frankly your post was out of line, and you should probably do a little research before you say something like this.

REU, PTF & EB before you guys get into a real p _ _ _ ing contest, and all three of you seem like industurious young people, I might make a suggestion that would really see who the best team is or shall I say was from the very beginning of playing all sports. PTF wants to go back to this year only, EB wants to go back 3 years and REU questions what PTF knows. Look up the records for every sporting event they have ever played, look at the wins and losses add them up and you have a winner. I will say this that Paintsville did chicken out of the football games though.
Or count the wins in the 3 major sports, baseball, basketball and football if you like andget a total, post it here so everyone can see then we will all know which one of you are correct. You can't just pick out years that suit you, all games count toward the total.

This is one of the MOST ignorant post ever!
You don't know where the schools are?
Then you ask why they are so close together.
If you don't know the first two. How can you know which "better players" go to what school?

My point exactly!!!! Who cares what the records are???? I cheer for Paintsville as long as they are not playing JC. I don't sit and count what the records are in the past year, six months, week, whatever. My point was PTF wants to bring out all these RECORDS over the past year or so but he doesn't fill in that We do not play in all sports. Why didn't he put the records on here from the previous years?? I didn't see any records that I can recall. Just my point!!!! :welcome:

When you start to gage success I think you must be very careful not to individualize them to the person. When you do that, there will always be someone that can bring something better to the plate. Education after all is a matter of self production. It concerns me that many across the Commonwealth read and formulate opinions of EKy, based on a menial forum like this. In advance I must apologize for what I am about to say. Before you offer a comparison of "Educational Achievement ", please review your post with respect to 101/102. I have actually done this before back when I was in school. Paintsville has the series lead in Football, Basketball, and Baseball. But I don't consider that an accurate assesment because Johnson central hadn't really came into their own athletically until the 80's. Although they did have some very good basketball teams back in the day.

What it matters is that it is very hard to judge either school against the other because of the size difference. Case in point.
Academically Johnson central is very good for its size, but not even in the same ballpark as Paintsville.
Athletically Paintsville is very good for its size, And shouldn't be in the same ballpark as central. But we manage to compete. That is what Im getting at.
As a matter of scale Paintsville Is about 1/4 the size of central, Piarist is about 1/4 the size of paintsville so by your logic should piarist ever field a football team we should brag about beating them. And go crazy every time we beat piarist in anything.

Looks like a dynasty to me, 3 wins in 13 games.
Again though, best of luck to BMR on restoring the pride and tradition of Tiger football.
I think you should count all sports in your totals like soccer-boys and girls, volleyball and girls basketball. When these two schools play each other, it doesn't matter if it is checkers, the fans are there and it is a battle. I think you'll find if you add these sports in the totals it will change a little, with 2011really leaning in Paintsville's favor.

Looking at the 2011 stats, 2011 really did go in Paintsville's favor.
Boys Basketball Paintsville 1-1 Johnson Central 1-1
Girls Basketball Paintsville 2-0 Johnson Central 0-2
Baseball Paintsville 2-0 Johnson Central 0-2
Girls Soccer Paintsville 1-0 Johnson Central 0-1
Boys Soccer Paintsville 3-0 Johnson Central 0-3
Volleyball Paintsville 2-1 Johnson Central 1-2
Totals Paintsville 11-2 Johnson Central 2-11
Funny how you can make statistics say what you want.

Not surprised with the hire of BMR. He'll be able to get the kids to go out and play hard for him. He is a great motivator and I feel like he'll be able to get the numbers up. I'm anxious to see what kind of schemes he brings in for this team. We all hear about the offensive woes but at the same time Paintsville gave up an average of almost 38 points per game this season. You can't win games giving up 5 TD's per game. Not to mention giving up 70 to an average Nicholas County team, and 62 to Pikeville.
11-24-2011, 08:35 PM
The new coach should be able to motivate these kid's to play hard for him. That's great for PHS. Also I'm sure that since he was a coach before he has had a lot of time to reflect on mistake's he might have made and how he would do things differently next time around. I do see one major problem he has right off the bat and that is the recruitment within PHS of some more sophomore's for next season. I noticed, while on KHSAA,that PHS only had 3 freshmen this season. While they will have 6 seniors and 13 juniors for next season efforts need to be made to gather in those sophomores for the season after next to support those 13 seniors to be for the 2013 season. With them PHS could be quite successful in just a few short years. Without them PHS could faulter before they even get started. I'm sure PHS has some players to fill that void in the school before 2013 rolls around. With that said,PHS could pull off a 5-6 or even a 6-5 season with the large group of upper classmen they have next season. That would be a great start out of the block for this coach and the new painstville team. Who know's maybe even win a playoff game. Good luck to the new coach and the team next season. Now they have something to play for.
