Knox Central vs. Rockcastle Co
LWC Wrote:Is Coach Jewell as good as the previous coach at his own school?

I thought you were referring to Russell County's coach for a minute, lol.

I tell you what, I asked the question incorrectly. RIGHT NOW, there might be 10 coaches better based entirely on resume. We need to revisit this question in 4 or 5 years. I said now and I mean now, but when we cannot take and evaluate someone's philosophy, football IQ, etc... and all we can take is a resume, Mills will fall short.

I just remember how bad Knox Central was, as I am sure you do too.

That job Wayne Mills did at Knox was as good as anyone in the state has ever done. They were terrible when he arrived, terrible like Knott Central bad. He managed to get them to the Region finals twice only to lose to Bell.

And to answer the job Jewell has done at Corbin, no he has not lived up to the coaches before him. Cotton and Perkins both were tremendous Coaches. Jewell has benifited greatly from a very weak district and class. He has also dodged teams like Bell, Whitley and Knox to keep a false image of domination. Remember he has lost to SL and W'burg during his tenure.

To quote a contributing member, Run it up the gut

The team at Russell is not Russell Co. There are 2 different ones,
Im 100% positive everyone knew that along with everyone else.

Yes I am a making a point like the above quoted but showing that yes someone can misread something and get it wrong.

Nothing at you LWC

Rock also lost to SL too, does that make coach larkey a bad coach
The luck ends here and Knox picks up the win Smile
There is no logic to it, but I think Knox is going to pull this one out somehow.

No luck, all skill bro. PCC should know
Mills did a fine job here. But that is in large part due to his staff - all of which remain. We lost 12 seniors many who started both ways last year and we sit here 5-2 with losses to quality opponents just having put 52 (32 in the first Quarter - some teams never score that in a quarter EVER) on a fiesty Clay in Coach Russel's 1st year. Have PCC drop the passes they did against Rock and delete 5 starters not on the field at HC and we could easily be 7-0 with people picking us over Rock - but that is football.

Mills hit KC at a great time when the feeder program handed him athletes with years of football experience for the first time in this schools history. He put those athletes into a great program and saw to it they got in the weight room. No man is an island - he benefited from everything around him. Coach Russell is doing an exceptional job in year 1 of his tenure leading a program that Mills did a fine job turning around. End of story.

Rock should be heavily favored here and they are. But they are coming to our field to play a team that has injuries, bad snaps, and a other stupidity behind them. They will be fresh and fired up to prove for the 5th year in a row they are the better team. And if they come up short, so be it. We will go to Russell and take the war to them... that too is football.

I agree about 08, 09, and 2010, however in 2007 Knox did beat Rock but Rock beat Knox in the playoffs, when it mattered. Might as well concede 2007. The games were mega close, until last season, which was Rock's worst season in 20+ years. One year it was a 1 point game, one year it was a 2 point game, etc....

Yes, the final score is what matters, I get it, but the games have not been as dominating as the post makes it sound. Remember, Rock has not been a great team since 2006. Knox Central got very good, when Rock got bad.

Now that both teams are good again, we will see what happens. I believe that both teams are trying to play the underdog card, lol.

Many Knox players, coaches and fans are saying that they are the underdog because Rock is undefeated and everyone on the message boards are picking them. Rock is saying, look at the recent history, look at how they have Canady, Diamond, Barger, etc.... and watch the film, they look very good. Forget the fact that they played badly against a winless West Jessamine team, forget that Barger was 4-14 against them. Forget that no Knox player could gain more than 71 yards rushing against PerryCC.

Rock people are telling their players that they have played more quality teams than Rock has. Even though they lost they played PerryCC and Harlan County. Rock has played PerryCC and Russell County. Advantage Knox.

If I was Scott Parkey this week, I would print out a large banner that had the scores from the past 4 seasons of the losses that Rock has endured (obviously don't mention the playoff win), ask how many players have been on the field for a win against Knox Central (I am guessing that not many freshmen started against a good Knox Central team that early in their freshman year), let them know that they are looking for revenge. No better time than now to get it. Win and you almost ensure a district championship. Win and you prevent Russell County from winning district. Win and gain all the respect that you deserve. Win and shut everyone up about the schedule. Win and take away the possibility of losing a tie-breaker. Play hard and just win baby!

Rock just has to play there game and take care of the football.
As I told another poster, if Corey McP can find another 3rd down target besides Reams, Rock will win. If he does not, Rock will lose. Canady can single cover Reams, and I am sure they will keep a safety in the area, just in case.

This will be a game where Tyler Smith, Spencer Childress and Eli Haddix become super important. IF they step it up, Rock can win.

The ground attack will NOT win this game for Rock. The game will be won in the air for Rock, if they win it. They may only throw 8 passes, but they will need at least 2 or 3 3rd down conversions with the pass.

With Rowe out Knox will just have too many weapons. I just hope Rock can make a game of it.
Rock is the favorite and we will show Knox why when we win on their field Friday night. a lot of my family will be there tailgaiting getting ready for the dist championship.
i havent been wrong yet, i predict a 2 td win for rock and for the candy kid from Knox to be shut down.

Does anyone know if Sport OT will be at this game? It could be one of the better games in the Mts this week.
This is a huge scary game for Rockcastle. I guarantee that Rockcastle won't go into this game with the big head. It doesn't matter who picks whom to win on here and these boys know it. I know of at least one Rocket senior who started as a freshman and he has been reminded of the past three losses to Knox Central. He needs absolutely no more motivation than that. Knox has quality in all facets of the game to be played and are respected by anybody associated with this Rockcastle team, be it parents, coaches or players. You don't take three years of losses to a team and go into a game with your head stuck up your rear end knowing that the game will be just handed to you. It won't be. This game will pivot on mistakes, penalties and who wants it more.

You might slow down the Canady Kid -But shut down- not happening-if Rock only worries about Canady then KNOX wins by two TD's--more weapons than just Canady.:Clap::Clap::Clap:

That game was simply an anomaly.
Perry played bad, if you spit on the field it's too wet, and they committed too many penalties.
Rock was definitely the better team that night, but I'm not confident they would be the best every night.

I know that makes you guys want to cry that I don't think you're the best team around....
but just keep crying and beat some teams while you do it and I might be forced to change my mind.
But what I saw on the field the one time I've watched Rock didn't impress me.

Nothing you can say right now would make me change my mind Smile
But like I said, beat some more teams and I'll give you more respect.
You guys definitely aren't a bad team or you would have dropped a game by now.
I was unsure about this one but I picked Rockcastle County and I think the score will be close.
just read on another site that Clark Rowe is out for the season. Gonna hurt the Rockets

PCC was lucky Rock didnt beat them worst. Its ok to admit your in denial. You are faced with a fact that is too uncomfortable for you to accept , That Rock was 3 TD better.

:haters:
Clark will have shoulder surgery November 4th and is out for season. Finishes as Rock's all-time leading rusher despite only playing 5 games his senior season. Bad news for Rock, we will see if rest of team can finish out championship run.
I guess the cat is out of the bag Sad Too hard to keep something quiet online, lol.

Prayers for a full recovery for Clarke.
