My older brother played at UK for Hal Mumme, and to this day he hates the man. So did just about everyone else that played under him.

We need to fire Joker at the end of the season and hire Mike Leach or open the bank and hire a big time coach. Joker is clueless at this point. He still thinks this team is close to being a good football team and it is obvious this isn't so. Mike Leach is available and I think the fans would love Leach at UK.

I say fire joker and find a good recruiting coach that talented players would like to play for, i mean if joker would stop being a puss an actually grow a set just maybe they might be able to work something out. they have no motivation at all joker shows that in his interviews and on the sideline as well. he shows no emotion what so ever and i can tell he dont have much confidence in his players, there for the players dont have any confidence in themselves either. joker is like a virus to this program, its pathetic

It gets uglier every weekend seems like.

They shoulda ran the score up on them more

There is so much wrong with this entire team it would take a day to break down. I will still support them no matter what, but this is getting bad.

His system would not work now because of the whole receivers dropping the ball thing. Bullshit systems worked in the SEC then but they would not now. You have to have a balanced offense to win in this conference, Becaue everyone is too deep on defense for you to be able to line up 5 wide and throw it every play. Your quarterback wouldn't survive the beating he would be put through in the modern sec.
The sad part is though that this is a moot point because we have talent just no one to pull it all together.
You have somewhat of a point, but Mumme's best players where from the Bluegrass state.
Tim Couch - Leslie Co.
Craig Yeast - Harrodsburg
Derek Homer - Fort Knox
Mumme/Leach's systems where also fun to watch and sold tickets.
You can't tell me that if Kentucky was averaging 400 yards of offense and scoring 30 points a game that there wouldn't be 70,000 there every Saturday.

I don't. Vandy is going to beat the dog crap out of us this year.

BlackcatAlum I agree 100% with what you're saying. Mike Leach's team score points and points put people in the seats. I for one would love to see the cats play in Leach's offense. He did a great job at Texas Tech and I think he would do something big at UK if given the chance. What quarterback wouldn't want to play for Leach. Oh well, Mitch will never fire Joker.

Mumme's teams were terrible in the kicking game, terrible on D too; plus he did lots of stupid stuff like going for it on 4th down on his own 20 in the first half. He play washed out QB's at LB, and the best defensive player at UK during the Mumme era was Dewayne Robertson who came to UK as a H-back, they moved him to DT because he couldn't catch. UK needs another Mumme about like they need another Eddie Sutton! People have mentioned Urban Meyer coming to UK, there is not enough money in Fort Knox for that man to come to UK, heck he is from OHIO and the OHIO ST job is his if he wants to coach again. What UK needs is a head Coach that can evaluate talent! Joker goes by the recruiting services star systems, and thats for suckers. If Morgan Newton is a 4 star QB then I am a PORNO STAR! It seems every 4 star recruit UK signs is flawed, Micah Johnson was surposed to be the coming of Ray Lewis but he ran a 5.01 40 yd dash at the NFL combine, Boyd the 4-star WR is slow as pond water the 4-star TE Alex Smith got threw off the TEAM, the other 4-star QB Moss had a bad shoulder. I think UK should hire Terry Bowden, heck he once won 20 games in row at Auburn and he knows talent and the SEC.

That wouldnt happen in the modern sec like I said earlier the quarterback would not live running that system against the schedule Kentucky plays now. College football has changed alot in 10 years. It actually amazes me just how much it has changed.

I bet Calipari could recruit better players.

Well, in my opinion, Jake Russell is the best qb on the team TODAY. Unfortunately this is his transfer year and he can't play. I'll bet $100.00 to a doughnut that he knows the playbook better than Newton or Smith right now (very smart kid), and if there is a harder working player in college football, I don't know where he is. Sadly I don't know that he will get the chance to play qb. Coaches tend to not like to play walkons in front of their big name 4/5 star recruits, especially ones they recruited personally, so he might not get a legit shot. Word is they might move him to tight end, and if they did he would be the best TE they would have, at least with what they have on the roster now. All this, and he's a great kid too.

The freshman bunch this year is for the millionth time the best recruiting class we have had in 20 years.

UK may not have the much success against Alabama or LSU this season using that offense, but you're crazy if you don't think UK could go out and throw it 50 times a game and not have a chance at beating everyone else in the SEC.
Arkansas throws the ball a lot and they're having success. Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Boise, etc all throw the ball a lot and no one has stopped their offenses.

Think about how much talent is in that class.

To any other SEC school that isn't much but for kentucky its pretty darn impressive. When they are juniors and seniors we will be a 9 win team. There is alot of talent in that bunch.
