Ashland wins big. Rowan's D is not good enough to hang with Ashland or JC.

JC is too one dimensional to beat a top team like Highlands, but plenty good enough to beat Rowan (in a blow out in my opinion) and Ashland. You obviously have not seen JC the last 2 years if you say they are over rated. And even if they are not as good as last year, they are good enough to easily beat Rowan.

I thought Rowan played Ashland this week not Johnson Central. Rowan has waeknesses just like everyone else. They also present some unique problems to a foe, just like everyone else. Games are decided on the field. I will say this to Ashland, stay focused on one week at a time, do your job and play as a team. If this group will stay focused and keep improving they will be a tough out. I guess I must be an Ashland fan

I think rowans OL will dominate and the run game will be good to the vikings.

Interesting opinion. I think the game will be decided between the O line of Rowan and the D line of Ashland. How many O lineman from Rowan play both ways?

It must best nice to live in a fantasy world where you believe you can beat Ashland and JC. Looking at the weak schedule (combined 5-15 record) which Rowan County has played and the number of points which they have given up to these weak teams (Montgomery 42, Southwestern 51, Mason County 41 and West Jessamine 32) how do you think the Vikings will give up to a good team. Just guessing Ashland and JC both will put 50 on the board if they want to. The only way the District goes through Rowan County is if KHSASA was to move the Ashland vs. JC games to Rowan County.

I know Rowan's offense is good. Points tell the story right? The Ashland D held GW to 18, Russell to 7 (Russell tacked on a late score that to make it 14), and Ironton to 6 (without both middle lbs). In these games GW scored once on a 4th down prayer as well as Ironton. If they can hold Rowan to 20 points they have a good shot at winning.

What is the mission and is it realistic?

Don't put me in with those that think Rowan can beat Ashland! I have been saying since week 2 that when Rowan plays a half way decent team, that they will get beat bad. Their D is just not good and you are not going to outscore everybody. I still think the road goes through JC.
09-19-2011, 06:44 PM
I respect what the JC posters have to say. The road to the district title goes through JC until someone knocks them out of that seat. Ashland needs to take care of Friday first then worry about Boyd and Greenup one at a time. There is no doubt that the JC game will hold huge playoff implications. We will talk about that later. One at a time. As for the mission and is it reachable? Everyone plays to win the last game, so I guess we will see.

Rowan can suprise people past week scores mean nothing.with that said i really think Ashland is way to much they are as good of team ive seen in a longtime.

Nobody on here has suggested that Ashland will look past Rowan yet but, just saying, I don't think the Cats will make that mistake this year. The mission part of the equation may well be the fact that Ashland has a lot of players that have started 3 and in some cases 4 years. Over half of the O and D units are seniors (not all the same players) and they have solid players to rotate in and out. The juniors contribute a lot big plays as do a several of the sophs. These guys have been there long enough to see and play through many mistakes made the past several years and they don't want to repeat them. So far this team has gotten better every week, if that continues and the injuries stay minimal good things will happen.
Gotta go with Ashland to win this one.

I am in no way a JC fan, but have seen them play the past several years and they are the real deal. It is going to be fun to see how everything plays out the next couple of weeks.

This is not the JC of the last two years, either. Total rebuilding. Ground up. I'd make them solid underdogs against Ashland in Putnam and pick 'em against Rowan at home. The over/under on the latter game might well be 100 points, because JC can't defend the pass and Rowan apparently can't defend anything.
Ashland can. Tomcats by 20 in this game against Rowan. Too much speed and the DBs are too good.

If that mission is to win Ashland a district championship and lose in Putnam to Cov Cath in the second round of the district, I'd say it's entirely realistic, and what I honestly expect to happen.

This was a really tough one for me to pick in the pick em because of all players that are questionable due to injury for Rowan. I did go with Ashland but, I am still not convinced that they will win. I think there are a lot of people underestimating the Vikings. I don't know what the status of Williamson is but, if he is good to go on Friday, I think that Rowan could pull it out and even though I picked against them, I am rooting for Rowan!

Unless Rowan is bringing in some "Ringers" to shore up that Defense? I don't see them stoping Ashlands offense. They haven't stopped anybody they've played yet. And I believe they have been less than stellar opponents? Ashlands D has proven to be very stingy thus far, I can't see that changing this week? Will see Friday!

How can Ashland score 43 points? Give me your math ie number of touchdowns, extra points, and field goals?

washed up Wrote:How can Ashland score 43 points? Give me your math ie number of touchdowns, extra points, and field goals?
6 touchdowns = 36 points
3 2 point conversion = 6 points
1 XP for good measure just to proce they can = 1 point
Total of 43
LOL
They have to try an PAT eventually just to prove that they can.
09-20-2011, 04:29 PM
Ok I'm game they try one. This is just as realistic as 6 touchdowns, 2 2point conversions and a 45 yd field goal. hahahaha

I'm with you. No matter how good Ashland is they eventually run into a team called Highlands. Thats why we all say that Ashland is the new Raceland because they are in that northern ky. Region. Just like the Rams back in the day. No matter how good we were we eventually ran into a little team called Beechwood.

If you wanna be the best you gotta beat the best.
