I dont think bringing in belicheck would help.
South contributes more to their bball team and always will. Besides, those of you who live around the area like i do know its all about the board and the AD at the schools.
A lot of people would be surprised to know that 1 AD runs both schools.
I would cry foul on that. I know there both apart of the laurel county school system, but i would def break it up.

The schools have two separate AD's that work under Randy Leger, Keith Gilbert at South and Jimmy Durham at North.

I talked to one of the coaches from South, the name of this mysterious person is Justin Gray. Guys, he only coached at LCA for one year. He was NOT the OC at LCA and has very little coaching experience.

ANOTHER YEAR OF LOSING AND EMPTY STANDS

LOL. Didnt Justin Haddix get the Perry County Central Head job after 1 year of coaching exp and they won 8 games to your 0 last year. I do beleive Coach Jay Gray was the passing game coordinator. From what I have HEARD, their are some coaches who want him there, and some who don't. Only because there role is gonna change. Knowing Jay Gray I know he is an exciting young talent. He will be a great coach. Dont see where a 0-10 season and 4-7 says you keep anyone you have? Also before you attack someone personally just know that Coach Jay Gray would crush you. 4 years in Ranger Batt means when he wakes in the morning he is already better than you. I hope he doesnt go to SL, We will take him in a second.

It looks like Justin Gray has been made as one of the new coaches...
So, you people are saying that just because a coach hasn't been around for X number of years (probably doing it wrong), he has no value? I will tell you this much; the old-school way of doing things has run it's course. Gray is a winner and SL would be lucky to have him. He will make sure that football gets more kids out and keeps them out. No more yelling and screaming at kids because the coach is inept.
Regarding empty stands, it is temporary. A few wins will fix all of that. I don't blame folks for not wanting to watch an 0-10 team. The community will rally around this guy as soon as the W's start coming. Just watch.

A coach with an old school style won that region just last year. I would not say that it has run its course.

It has at SL! And, that is what we are talking about here.
Listen, you either want SL to improve or you don't. What has taken place obviously hasn't worked, so a major change is in order. Not saying any of the other folks aren't good people, they just haven't gotten the job done.

The change needs to happen before spring practice if it's going to. Otherwise your wasting time putting in sets and plays that aren't going to be used.

Spring Practice should begin tomorrow for South.

Can't start until both basketball teams are eliminated from post season.

Are things that bad in Laurel or just South Laurel?
What are some things that are killing football there? Cant just be all blamed on coaching.

You can absolutely blame the downfall of a program on a coach or coaching staff. A misguided message or lackluster approach can ruin kids' experience, and coaches who can't call a game, or put the right personnel in the right positions, can absolutely take away any chance to win. If you are looking to place "blame" don't look at the kids. New blood is needed @ SL and I am confident that Coach Welch will bring it in. Will it be before spring ball? No. SL followers can thank the administration for having coaching contracts run through the end of the school year for that blunder. It will be OK, help is on the way!

I can't wait to see all the wins start pouring in next year at SL. Glad to hear there will not be anymore yelling and screaming. Reward them, don't yell at them.

All the wins?
They might win 3 games next year. Im thinkng more along the lines of 2.

So one new coach is going to put hundreds in the stands and turn SL into a title contender. Wow, every team should do this, bring in a new coach and instantly win. No pressure on him, but what happens if they dont win instantly, do the SL grateful turn on him like they have on the other coaches.

Yes as always, HS football is becoming more like college football every year. More and more in put in to winning and not into developing young citizens that go on to school and be great members of society.

He won 7 games at Perry and look who they were against. Plus you are the pot calling the kettle black. You tell someone that they are attacking some unknown coach yet you started this conversation and attack SL staff. It sound slike you have some interest in this or you would not know that much about this mythical coach or feel like taking up for him. Not to mention SL has not hired any new coaches.

Well obviosly I have some interest. I started the thread. Second, I have stated I know coach gray and made that comment before. So there isnt any reason you should try and play detective, from what you said its all common sense questions. I also know he has been looking for a new school, because he does live in the london area. and spent last year driving to Lex. Now I am not going to share a lot of info with you, but he is interested in South if a position opens. As of now its speculation. He is also talking to a few more schools. Thats just about all you need to know about his plans. I started this thread to see what was going on with the Laurel Co schools. Not about Jay Gray

Isnt that is whats going on at South, and still the lynch mob is after Welch? He hasnt won games but has been producing from what I hear , good so called "citizens".??

Where did he coach before?
Is SL that big time to where they need a passing cordinator? I think UK has one too. Is this what SL has to do for the fans?

There are a bunch of smarta$$es on this site! I am telling you, SL is getting a new OC, not a passing coordinator. Justin Gray is a decorated war veteran who has played, coached and knows the game of football. He is an offensive technician, the likes of Mike Leach, and can pick a defense apart. On top of that, he knows how to instill discipline in young men without making an *** of himself and running them off. I never said he would put hundreds in the stands. He is not an usher. He is a football coach and a respectable guy. WINS will put fans in the stands. I will put money on a winning season in 2011.

I dont think that there big time.. I just think that it would allow them to get the ball in the air more successfully with a better pass/int ratio and pass completion percentage. In case you didnt see SL had 22 int to 7 td this pass season, so some change is needed on their passing game. Also I dont think if he comes there he will just be the passing game coordinator either. But really you just never know. I am pretty sure at this point if he does come it will be in July if a spot opens..

Mike Leach? Are you serious? Leach is still available. Why not just go after him?

You also thought a Mike Bolin was going to Madison Southern to be coach.
You thought an ex-ALL American from Knox County was getting the KC job.
You just compared a guy who coached one year to Mike Leach:igiveup:

Well it does seem you know all about SL.
How many players are back that started last year?
