There is always someone to play. SV had to pick Pulaski Co. week 10 last. Not very smart by Norman he should have picked up a more competive game.

If he had that much say so do you think Belfry would be traveling to Shelby Valley every other year instead of playing their game at CAM? Evidently your clueless to the type of man, person, coach, christian, and mentor Philip Haywood is.
Belfry doesn't even have all their jersey's purchased for this outstanding event.... COACH Haywood and staff make sure each young man is dressed to match as Belfry purchases the jerseys themselves (after the cut off from the COMMITTEE), which is 50 or so.
Please make sure you post FACT not OPINION on the subject matter from here on out!

Please excuse some of my fellow Pike Central fans. Give some of us
a break were still new to this being a football school. Were still not a classified football school, but we are in transitions of becoming one.

Then why did PC whine to the committee about either playing ER or SV(not sure which one it was),said it was too early in the season to play a district game.

August 19th - Greenup County (Away)
September 2nd - Powell County (Away)
I think that just leaves the Pike County Bowl, and the schedule looks like its complete I think.
They play Phelps in the Pike Co bowl, cause they whined if they play ER its too early in the season to play a district game

It's not really whining hornet it's the truth. A district game is meant for the end of the season no matter what school your from. Nobody opens up with a district game. They don't even do that in college you don't see Florida opening up with Alabama or Kentucky(anyone in the SEC). You need warm up games and I don't like that we play Phelps first game.
02-20-2011, 01:05 AM
Well don't worry people, I'm sure this will probably be the last year we'll set it up anyways.

Well, why can't you play SV the first game? Correct me if I'm wrong but ER, Belfry, PC, (Lawrence and Sheldon Clark, if we want to get technical here) are all district games. SV is NOT in the district nor are they 3A. Therefore, playing SV would not and should not be a problem for PC to play them. ON the other hand, the "powers that be" for the PCB make the decisions and I guess PC will have to play who they are slated to play. Either that or take an automatic L on the schedule.... Wanna flip flop with Belfry or Pikeville? Wanna play who they have to play this year? Those young men from Phelps have feelings too and the posts and comments that have been put on here are getting out of hand. Coach Peck is rebuilding a program and working hard at doing so. Phelps doesn't have 1/3 the students the other schools in the county has. Don't be so quick to judge or throw rocks when you live in a glass house!

I'm not sure why they didn't play SV. Yea I'd love to flip flop and play some of them games so no one could complain that we don't play anybody or we got a weak schedule. To be honest I really do wish the best for all the kids that play in the area. I'd love to see every school be able to compete at the highest level. Maybe I should watch how I word some things directed towards other teams I may come off negative at times. I wish every team in Pike County could be a force and put out D1 talent every year. Good luck all of Pike County.

Chapman has been seen at Breathitt Co. at a basketball game with coach Holcomb, again wouldnt be one bit surprised if he isnt back coaching the Defense for Bobcats next season they have 3 state championships and he is in every picture when he not there they loose games so he is good at what he does and thats coaching, parents and players may not like him but he is a winner you had better believe that many in Breathitt Co. knows he is the real deal as a coach...

I played under Chapman during his first year at Pike Central. It was my Senior year, but I did learn more from him in the one season then most coaches I've had. I doubt Chapman would leave Pike Central he has set up the program the way he wants it. I'm pretty sure the man loves it up there on the hill.

You do know no team is required to play in the Pike County Bowl. I would say if the PCB committee pushed it too far some teams might re consider the game.

Here is the info that the KHSAA used for realignment. You will see that Phelps has more than 1/3 of the students of all schools in the county.
SCHOOL Avg2YBoy
Phelps 158.0
Pikeville 186.5
Shelby Valley 330.5
Belfry 353.0
East Ridge 376.5
Pike County Central 390.0
They actually have more students than: Campbellsville 156.5, Hazard 148.5, Fairview 147.5, Holy Cross (Louisville) 139.0, Frankfort 128.0, Harlan 117.5, Paintsville 112.5, Williamsburg 111.5, and Pineville 109.0. This is just some of the schools they are bigger than.

Our numbers have dropped over all in the school by about 40-45 students from last year.
That number you listed is also 7-12, our total number of students in grades 9-12 this year is about 240, and we have more females than males.

Too early for a district game, but I don't think it's finalized who is playing who in the PCB. I was looking at schedules on KHSAA, and the only one with the game on their schedule is Belfry at the moment.

PCB is big for the players, and the schools get revenue. It's a good thing for Eastern KY football.
