Great shot. Thanks for posting this as it reminds me of why I'm glad me sons are too fat to play any position where that leather thing gets thrown at them and vicious monsters like this attack them. Playing Line has never looked better.

LOL funny football1. Reminds me of my mom when I was in high school. She would always yell throw it down! Run away, when I got the ball.

Nasty hit! About as rough as I've seen at the high school level.. Hope the kid is okay.
First of all that hit was completly legal, and if you think he should have waited your def. not a football fan. Football is not a game for the weak maybe you should start watching tennis or something or atleast know what your talking about!

He was not saying the kid "really should have waited". He was poking fun at the previous poster for having an issue with the hit.

Straight up nasty hit! Will he still be able to play for PCC next year?
01-26-2011, 04:41 PM
Just wondering ? If the offensive player had been able to catch the ball and had squared with the defense, would the film footage been different? Had I been the reciever when I woke up I would be thinkin my Q-back just got me killed with a ton of blockers down the left side. Looked like the Q-back could have run into the next county.

Thats what I was thinking. This reminds me alot of when Daniel Pugh, and Wes Ward and company played for us back in 05 you were promised one solid hit like this a game.

Awesome hit; crappy tackling form.

I don't know who you follow, but Pike Central had a pretty solid season last year.

It was a great hit. Just want to give my Pike Central friend a hard time.

You are certainly free to feel the way you do; but if I was the kid's position coach, I'd have "talked" to him. I want sure tackles. Yeah boring as heck I know. But I've seen a lot of really hard hits or attempted really hard hits result in missed tackles and significant yards after contact. Highlands D improved dramatically this past year after the coaches finally got through some thick skulls that the players needed to forget about "highlight tackles" and concentrate on sure tackles.

The above makes a lot of sense to me, for I've seen some "great hits" that the back took, spun off, and gained seven to ten yards after the hit. When you wrap them up, they don't usually gain additional yardage.
02-01-2011, 11:10 AM
You can wrap up and still make a highlight tackle.
02-01-2011, 03:15 PM
Just tip your off to Shouse that was a nasty hit. No need to talk about how he tackled
