They'll likely be without their most effective running back, the two best linebackers, and possibly their starting quarterback. After hearing what Jude did to CovCath last night, I have a hard time believing that the Birds will be able to limit the damage he causes. He seems to get better as the game goes on. I'll be looking forward to seeing him whatever the case may be. Uphill battle for Highlands. They're going to need to limit the mistakes and hope that JC makes a few of their own. Whatever the case, very good chance that this is for all the marbles. I just don't see the west bringing anything to the party in Bowling Green.
already setting up the ground work for your excuses. i knew this would start no one in the north will give respect to any one else , look around J.C. bell, somerset, knox, boyle hazard eastern KY is coming to the top

Boyle County is not eastern Kentucky. We're central Kentucky.

It all depends on time of possession, and just some timely plays. Had two balls been caught (that should've been caught) last night, we may be talking about another team in this game vs Highlands. I think JC will control the clock and the defense will step up and make some big plays. Look for Tate Salyer to have another big game on defense.

What would make you think that Highlands would be overlooking JC. JC has been Highlands toughest challenge the past two years so how could Highlands possibly overlook them. This will be a good game, and as we have seen before, Highlands rises to the occasion in big games, JC does not. Highlands 35-JC 15

I am a JC fan and feel we have the best chance to beat Highlands we have had in a long time. But, we have to remember Highlands is a class program with quality numbers and is well coached. Highlands is very sound and does not make many mistakes and makes you pay if you do.
I feel Jude will have a big game but will need Hall, Bratton and Ousley to come up very big. The bottom line I feel is on our line play. This young group has improved every game. If they can dominate the line of play on both sides of the ball we will win. This JC team is the best conditioned of any group I have seen so they two platoon system of Highlands may not be important. This will be a very close game and could be decided by a turnover.

Johnson Central offensive line is better than Highlands defensive line. Highlands is a better tackling team than Covington Catholic. Johnson Central will have to be a little more patient but they should get some points. Highlands is balanced offensively so whatever is working for them, they will stick to and they will not stall offensively if they got it going.

I really think this is the year. If JC plays like they did in the second half, noone will be able to stop them. Eagleville will be a rowdy place next friday night....and when the dust settles, the Bluebirds may end up canned(reference to Bluebird Vienna Sausages..don't know if they still make those things or not???)

In all seriousness though, I think this will be a very tough game. I'm just happy that the Eagle seniors will get one last shot at the Birds before graduation.

Agreed. With all of the offensive explosiveness that can happen, this will probably turn into a defensive struggle. JJ will get his yards, but it will be what can the Birds do in the Redzone. Seeing how the Birds played against Ryle's Elliott, which I argue is the best Junior in HS football and maybe the best running back in the whole state, the Birds did struggle. But I believe that they struggled because Hempel played so well. If JC's QB can run AND pass the ball effectively, and not allow the HHS D to stuff the box, JC will score their points. For Highlands, they are now getting healthy and should have their offensive weapons ready. It's asking too much of the JC D to stop the Birds, but if they can do what Ryle did and stop the Highlands passing game, then the Birds will struggle to put points on the board. The scarry thing about Highlands, they can score on a 70 yard pass play in the blink of an eye. I know nothing about JC's defense, but they did allow points to CCH. Highlands is much better than CCH offensively. However, HHS has looked less than their top five ranking in the state over the last month of the season.

Self handicapping will get you nowhere. Birds will bring it next week. rest assured. They've got something to prove too.:1:

Highlands will show JC stuff that they haven't seen all year offensively. Too many weapons both in the air and on the ground. Double cover and we get it done on the ground. Load up, we air it out. JC is in for a long night defensively. On offense, look for the Birds to stuff Jude more than you guys think. He can bring it, but Highlands D is waiting with something to prove. No need to dust off the welcome mat. It's all business when the Birds come to town. We're all in for a real treat. Prove the doubters wrong, Highlands. Was just thinking, how much will JC score on the Highlands defense. They want to know......

Actually Highlands has has quit a few games this year with lots of mistakes. If they do it agianst JC, they are in for a long night. In last nights game(just in the first half) they had several false starts, 3 personal fouls, blocked punt, and fumbled punt that should have never been attempted to pick up. This led to 2 short field TD's for Dixie. Agianst Dixie they were able to recover in the second half, but do this agianst JC and you will not recover. The questions I have are, can HHS slow down JC run game(will not stop it, but need to slow it down) and can JC stop HHS passing game. Many JC fans have said Cov Cath had best QB and WR's they saw all year and HHS has better of both. HHS strength on D is stopping the run, teams have moved the ball well when passing agianst them. HHS strength on O is their passing game, which is JC weakness on D. Special teams I think HHS has big advantage. JC's kicking game is terrible, they got lucky and the ball bounced their way on the kickoff several times last night but the odds are very high agianst them for the ball to bounce their way everygame (Odds for onsides kick is very low for your team to recover and most line drive kicks are not going to make there way into the endzone). Jude ran great but I do have to say he had Huge holes to run thru and with CC playing so many in the box, once he broke thru the line he was gone. So was CC D line bad, or was JC O ling creating the big holes? Jude was very impressive on D also, the boy likes to lay a hit! This should be a great game and neither team can afford to make silly turnovers or penalties. JC will pull out all the tricks and unlike Cov Cath, HHS better be ready for it.

No doubt Highland will pass the ball and someone will catch it.Then the one that makes the catch will learn what whackem"n" stackem really means!!

Another poster said both starting LB's were out. The Highlands team that we've seen in the last month causes me to have serious doubts about their ability to stop the run. Can you give us more details about injured players returning?

Rationalize it any way you want, but I don't bother with excuses. Then again, Highlands doesn't lose enough to make it worth the effort. I fully expect the game to wind up with the better team winning, and if that's JC, I can live with that and I'd wish them luck the next two weekends. So go ahead and spin that any way that allows you to play that tired, old "no respect" card, .:eyeroll:

I have no idea about injuries. Towles just looked to tweak his ankle and was not brought back in the game because McCoy was running wild and there was no need to chance further injury to Towles. Highlands needs all the D healthy to slow up Jude and Co.
