with 160+ yards and 3TDs a game average, davenport will be the only weapon bell should need. Are you saying LC's defense is the best bell has played?

I would be shocked to see Lawrence Co win this game, because Bell is just that good this year. I just don't see a win for the bulldogs tonight. Good Luck to both teams.

I'm a LC fan but I'm not one of those who thinks the dogs are going to beat Bell county. not this year anyway. Bell has a well coached team. i would love to see the dogs pull this one out but i think they are still a year or two away from being a team that has the discipline to do that. fortunately coach salmons has them headed in the right direction. i can only hope they put together a good mistake free game and give Bell a run for their money. Good luck dogs!

They are WRONG!!! How many times do we have to say this....
He sat out for Madison Southern, McCreary Central, played in the Harlan game and had 161 yards and 4 TD's. Then sat out for Boyd Co. He sat out in the games HE CAN to rest him for playoffs.
Sounds like to me Ashland newspaper need to do some more research.

Players on Lawrence County (9-2) are not satisfied with their season to this point, with losses to their most challenging opponents, Rowan County and Sheldon Clark.
“They feel like they’re 5-5,” said Bulldogs coach Luke Salmons. “I feel like they just need a big challenge.”
Bell County (11-0) certainly presents a challenge. The Bobcats have not lost a game since falling to Boyle County in the state semifinals last season.
Bell County has outscored opponents 536-78 and has shut out three straight foes, including a 52-0 blowout of Boyd County most recently.
“They’re the best team on film that I’ve seen,” Salmons said. “They’re really disciplined and fundamental. No one expects us to win ... that’s the mentality we’re taking.”
The Bulldogs took an undefeated mark into Bell County last season in the regional final and got trounced, 41-0. Nine starters were hospitalized that week due to food poisoning, and while most still played, they were not at full health.
The players have been looking forward to another shot at the Bobcats.
“That’s all they’ve talked about,” Salmons said.
Hayden Kiser led the Dawgs’ offense in a well-executed 40-20 win over Rockcastle County last week. He accumulated 220 passing yards, three touchdowns and no picks. Hunter James added 119 yards on the ground.
Salmons knows his offense will have to perform flawlessly, as Bell County has allowed 200 yards in a game just twice this season.
“(Bell County) is the type of team that, if you don’t do things perfect, they’re going to hurt you,” he said.
Cory Davenport is the Bobcats’ leading rusher with 1,311 yards on 103 carries. He has missed three games with a leg injury but is slated to return. Ryan Collett and John Dudley Hilton also provide some punch out of the backfield.
The Bulldogs arrived in Log Mountain on Thursday, a change of pace from the normal routine of a same-day trip.

Bell will have no problem in this game! Anyone that reads the ashland paper and believes what they read needs medical help.

This one is from the Middlesboro Daily News:
The Bell County Bobcats will try to take the step toward a possible state championship tonight as they host Lawrence County. This marks the third straight year the Bulldogs have come to Log Mountain for a playoff game and Bell has the first two.
Some may remember last year’s game, a 41-0 Bobcat victory, that featured some extra-curriculars from a couple of Lawrence County players. One was ejected and had to be escorted off the field by police. Another made obscene gestures to the Bell sideline and stands and after the game the visiting locker room was left in shambles.
Bobcat coach Dudley Hilton says there’s no bad blood carrying over between the programs.
“That just shows that they didn’t come down here to just show up and try to play us close. They came to win and when we outplayed them it just blew up on them guess,” Hilton said. “I think that’s why they exploded a little bit. Two years ago they came down here and they were 0-10, we beat them pretty good and they didn’t cause any trouble. They’re 9-2 this year and I’m sure they feel like they want to come down here and redeem themselves.”
The Bulldogs have several returning starters from last years’ 12-1 team. Their led by senior running back Hunter James, who’s ran for 1573 yards and 29 touchdowns on the year.
Junior quarterback Hayden Kiser also returns after starting last year’s game as a sophomore. He’s completed 78-of-131 passes on the year for 1519 yards and 20 touchdowns with just four interceptions. Senior Kyle Crum is his favorite target with 30 catches for 619 yards and four TDs. Sophomore Caleb Bentley has 23 catches for 356 yards and seven TDs while James has 16 receptions for 415 yards and 6 touchdowns. Bentley has also run for 626 yards and six scores.
The came out throwing last week as Kiser threw for 220 yards and three touchdowns in a 40-20 win over Rockcastle County. James still managed 111 rushing yards and a pair of TDs on the ground.
“They’re a multiple team. They’ve got a very good running back in Hunter James and a couple of top-notch receivers along with the same quarterback that played here last year,” Hilton said. “Having experience at the quarterback position is valuable in the playoffs. He got three (playoff) games under his belt last year and one more last week, so he’s experienced. I’m sure they’ll try to do whatever we let them do, as far as running or passing the ball.”
Bell will have junior running back Cory Davenport back for tonight’s game. He’s run for 1311 yards and 23 touchdowns on just 103 carries. Seniors John Dudley Hilton and Taylor Mills will join him in the backfield and sophomores Ryan Collett and Jonathan Polly will be ready to fill in when needed.
The Bobcats also have options in the passing attack. Senior quarterback Ben Madon has thrown for 1070 yards on 55-of-84 passing with 17 touchdowns and only two interceptions. Senior Cody Davenport is his favorite target with 23 catches for 415 yards and eight TDs while sophomore tight end Corey Oslonian has eight catches for 243 yards and four scores. Senior wideouts Bryan Thacker and Scotty Henderson can also get involved in the through the air.
Coach Hilton says Bell will also look to take what the defense is giving them.
“We’re a more multiple than what we used to be,” he said. “In the past there were times where even if teams put eight or nine in the box we were still going to run it at them. Now, if they load the box we can throw it too.”
Bell County comes in at 11-0 and has outscored their opponents by an average of 48.7 to 7.1 on the year. They’ve shut out their last three opponents and appear destined for a rematch with Boyle County in the state semifinals.
But coach Hilton says the team is not going to get ahead of themselves or look past anyone. He also points out that the Bulldogs will be coming to Log Mountain playing to win.
“This is a team that’s used to winning. They’ve won 21 of their last 24 and that’s got a lot to do with how they’ll play,” he said. “When you get to this round your going to see those kinds of teams and it makes for a good game.
“Lawrence County is a team that can cause us some trouble, and we’re going to have to play a good football game Friday night.”
The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. at Bell County’s Dudley Hilton Field.
