JJ Jude breaks State Record tonight with 583 yards rushing...
Matman Wrote:[quote=HD28]

Please quit acting like you know the coach. You are basing your opinion of him off hear say. The man has done more for kids in this area than you or anyone else on this board ever will.

IF the kid puked after a run he was in the game too long.
IF the QB was limping badly, he shouldn't have been in the game.
IF the game was far enough out of reach that he could pull the 1st team D, then the O line and the backs should have been out as well.
That's just plain common sense and good sportsmanship, which this man seems to be lacking.

I know all a lot of coaches and they all say the same thing...good football coach, not much of a sportsman, not much class. That seems to be the consensus.

I'll bet if Jude or Hall would have gotten injured badly enough to miss the rest of the season then all his supporters would be trying to run him out of town.

Great Post! You cannot seperate JJ from Matney or the team or fans, we are as one. If there is something here you do not like, start your own post and slam us. Please show respect here to JJ, this is about JJ's record, not Matney or the the way he coaches or the JC system. I do not want to hear anymore we think JJ earned it but Matney did not do it right! Real intelligent sportsman would say great job JJ and let it go at that.

Then don't read the posts.

Last I checked it was free website and the posts on here are probably 3 to 1 in praise of the kid and the 1 being about the decisions made.

LOL  Real intelligent sportsman? You know people are gonna criticize Matney for what happened last friday. Anyone with COMMON SENSE would know that, Mr. "intelligent sportsman" monsterman.

I have been all up and down the Big Sandy Valley this week and all I hear is JJ worked hard and deserved. I have yet to hear complain about Matney or the way the way the game was played.

Come watch Matney coach against Montgomery County Friday night and see a great back in action and then you could update us later on where Matney went wrong in this game.
I like Matney's coaching. If you read my posts, ive said good things about him SEVERAL times. So, don't act like I bash his coaching ability cause thats a lie. My earlier post in this thread wished them luck tomorrow night. All I can say is i do feel sorry for kids having a rushing record broke against them on their senior night. Im just thankful that the boy didn't get hurt in an effort to break a record because it would have hurt the rest of their season. The playoffs are more important then an individual record in my opinion and without JJ running the ball JC would be in trouble. Thats what im implying when I say anyone with common sense would know that Matney is gonna get criticized over that.
Congrats to a great back

I have seen kids puke at the beginning of games. That doesn't mean anything. Probally means he drank to much water before the play. Again you are using here say. You know alot of coaches that say its classless. Everyone knows alot of coaches. I bet you haven't even seen the game.
Any time a record is broke it is a special occassion, congratualtions to the young man on a night you will never forget.

Matman, have you seen the game?

This was not about water or even nerves. He had broken the record already and was called upon again. He was a Spartan and broke off a big 60 yard run only to have a penalty negate it. He can not get up off the ground and manages to drag himself off the field of play and out of the end zone.

I've said it many times and will again, the effort of Jude was courageous. :HitWall: The other debate has nothing to do with him.

Yes I have. Like I said puking is not an indication of anything. I think the difference in veiws here has to do with the society we live in. People talk about being afraid of getting hurt. You can not fear getting hurt. It happens but that will hinder your performance and your life. He could get hurt in the first play of a game or the last. People talk about physical exhaustion. But what happened to giving it 100 percent and leaving it all on the feild? What happened to teaching our athletes and student to challenge themselves and others.
All im going to say about the subject is I support Matmans view of this carrying over from wrestling. I know only about 5% of the posters on here have been around the Matney/WC rivalry for the last 2-3 decades. But if Matney and JJ have a chance to do anything spectacular against any Woodford team, I would never give it a second thought.
I have shown my support to Matney many times on other threads. He is a wonderful man that commands and deserves respect. I think SC lost a great coach when Matney left and I applaud him for having a winning program and excellent athletes who can break records. Congrats JJ and Matney from the Rock.
Ive heard a lot about him, but im ALL my experiences with him I have never seen another man care for other peoples children like he does. Yes he wants to win, what coach doesn't? But this is a good man.
I dont know if he goes through what he did at SC, but I know he many times housed, picked up, dropped off, supported, and whatever else he had to do to make sure the kids got where they needed to go and have what they needed.
My son has missed his entire freshman season after getting hurt during practice. My point being that if we look at the " what ifs " then we'll never accomplish anything. Players get hurt everyday. It is a terrible part of this sport. I understand this as well as anyone. But they don't work as hard as they do, to be put on a shelf somewhere safe. J.J. was on pace at halftime to get the record. There is no harder working young man. He deserved the record and I am proud of him. Go Eagles!!!
redstorm Wrote:This is a joke to let a kid break a record in a blow-out. Why didn't he let him break this record against Knox Central or Bell Co. How many yards did he have against These two teams. This is no class This coach must be a stat man

look in the record books almost all the individual records are in blow outs.
records are meant to be broken, sometimes they happen against very poor teams, that's football. 20 years from now no one will be saying "they should have taken the starters out" "they should have benched him after the half" they will simply say judd had a heck of a game. and i say congrats to the young man, and his coach for letting him put his name in the books.

What happened to the responsibility of those in charge for those under their charge?

We'll have to agree to disagree.

Doesn't mean anything? You don't think throwing up is an indication of something wrong, especially at this stage of the season? Wow...!

I'm not using "here" say, I'm going by what I "hear". Hence, the 3 "IF's" I used in my previous post. And, yes all the coaches I know and talk to (about 6) say the same thing... he's a good football coach, but this is typical Matney, because he is indeed a stats guy, and his character is very much in question. Their respect for him ends at football knowledge.
Good Job Boi :notworthy

HAHA. This shows you know nothing about Matney. He rarely even turns stats in. However he has a kid that has a legitament chance at a D1 school and this will get his name out there. And no throwing up in itself doesn't indicate anything.
That is one thing way most people don't like teams like that. They like to run the score up. When a team up 42-7 at halftime. The coach know they can't come back and win the game. Way would someone want to take the change on there best player getting hurt this close to the playoffs. JC need all they player, if they ever think that they can beat Highlands.

Uh, HD28, You check the stats for this year yet. Oh yeah, that's right. HE HASN"T EVEN TURNED STATS IN THIS YEAR. And he rarely ever does. Now what say you?
One thing is for sure with all this talking going on, JJ is getting a lot of attention. Hopefully since his name is out there so much, he will get tons of offers for college. Since he is just a JR., imagine how much better he will be next year. Good luck to the Eagles in the playoffs. If we get to play Highlands again this year, maybe we will be the UK and them the South Carolina. That would be classic.

He doesn't turn in stats because he thinks "hiding" those from his playoff foes gives him an advantage.

What he should realize is that playoff foes, never and I mean never have a problem getting as many films on JC as they need. His opponents are more than willing to share those with out of district schools.

I wonder why that is?
Just watched this game....classless program IMO.

If you have the guts to identify your team alliance this post will be valid. If you are a CC fan this would make great wallpaper for the JC locker room. Please say you are from CC!

JC fans know they are one of my favorite teams in the Mtn and has my 2nd favorite RB in Jude. Heck I even started this thread in Congrats to Jude.

In the Bell Co game JC was losing 35-6 with 7 min left when Dudley started subing in JV, while Matney left his entire varsity in till the end. Dudley was a little upset about that on the radio after the game and in the newspaper article about the game. He thought being down by that much with the other team putting in JV that Matney should had did the same. Dudley himself said" Must be a stat thing".

JC went on and scored 2 TD's and Jude racked up some much needed yards against our JV D.
