I wonder about the Ford kid from last year. He could whip that ball an amazing distance!

If that is the case could see some more passing.

OR eastern Kentucky's home grown!
There is no Thompson County in Illinois. I was stupid enough to research it. Even maxpreps don't have you. Thompson Township is in Jo Daviess County IL and there is a Thomson, Illinois, but neither is listed in maxpreps.
So what is the name of that school that has groomed such terrific football players??
Im glad someone else looked it up to, i looked on a map and noticed there is no thompson county illinois. He is also bashing on the mayfield thread and poor old my son is 55 hasnt figured out its all hogwash. Probably doesnt help that i played along and said thompson county is unbeatable, they have never lost in there class, and there numbers are low, which is all true for a school that doesnt exist. I did drop a small hint to 55 last night, but who knows if he will get it, and ive never seen him on this thread so he may be in the dark for awhile.

I am going to let all my BGR buddies in on a little secret. Now you can't tell ANYBODY! Ok here it is, we are changing offenses to the Air Raid!!! I hate to give away the secret but I trust you guys won't say a word. If it gets out then all our opponents will start preparing for it.

I heard the very same thing bear claw!!! And with Ford being a left handed QB, it could bite a few football teams in the butt!!

On a serious note, the coach that could turn the team into the Air Raid would most definately be Eddie Creech, IMO.

You got that right Granny, Coach Creech is just not a great up and coming coach but is one of the most God feRing men with wonderful morals and a great example for young boys. Coach Creech is a type coach that doesn't think he knows all. Eddie is the type coach that will go and soak up as much football knowledge as he can. HC is very fortunate to have a coach like Ed Creech!

A left handed QB would be awesome...But don't you think you should start out with a Right- handed QB first in Harlan County...Just sayin

I'm more concerned about who will catch it, not who will throw it.
Nick Cornett is the only guy who actually caught a pass last year.
Harlan County will need its offensive line to dominate to have another big year.
Plus, someone will have to make all the tackles that Carson Whitehead made the past few years. A lot of potential big plays were stopped because Carson made a lot of tough tackles in the open field.

Exactly, Tom Larkey's ground and pound always seems to work and a good line will help, I think the question is defense.

Warm-up before the game start would be considered an Air Raid in Harlan County..Then when the game start they run over teams. :Cheerlead

I have much respect for Harlan County football but I think things start going down hill starting this year for awhile. I think the city will be more successful in the near future especially if we get rid of Hazard. The Dragons will be on the rise. Coach Donahue will get us back on track.
07-11-2014, 05:59 PM
Coach Donahue is as good of a coach as we have in the MTs. the problem in the MTs. is every one is leaving, the coal mines are being -shut down no mines, no jobs. no people.

I wonder what happened ?
07-11-2014, 06:43 PM
Harlan County's enrollment actually went up last year for the first time in probably three decades. They did lose a lot last year, but the freshman group is strong.
Coach Donahue has done what he can, but Harlan hasn't had a lot of talent the past couple of years after the Saragas-Overbay group graduated. I didn't see a lot on any of the middle school teams either.

Scott Bailey has posted on his face book, many pictures of practice this week. I really appreciate him doing that, because I know it's bound to hurt a little with Scotty graduating last year. I love his pictures!! They bring the action so personal, and he gets excellent views!!
Thanks BigGuy!!

I'm a Harlan County guy but I can face the facts when there obviously isn't much talent left in either HC or Harlan. There probably won't be for a long time, this past senior group at HC was the best there had been for awhile. Accomplished a lot. Unless something drastic happens I don't see Harlan's football getting better. It's a little too late to try and go to the Air raid, should've done that years ago with more athletes, but you gotta do what you gotta do. The ground and pound only works for so long.
07-15-2014, 01:54 PM
HC will still be good up front and it will still have a lot of success. Might be down some skill wise but i see some coming in frosh class

Larkey's Ground and Pound has been working for A Long Time.

It has.
But one of Larkey's most successful runs in his personal history came when Rockcastle was flinging the ball around a good bit.
In 2002 when Rockcastle was State Runner-Up they had a 2000 yard rusher..but also a 1500 yard passer
In 2001 during Rock's runner-up bid Anderkin threw for 2600 yards and Reagan had 1260 yards.
Larkey prefers to pound you into submission and with linemen HCHS produces every year... who wouldn't... but he has proven over his career that he is not afraid to pass the ball if he has the pieces to make it work.
