Wonât be long now until these boring Friday nights will be booming. Canât wait for the season start and watch these Panthers to see if they can take the next step. Me personally have a lot a faith in them but itâs all on them. I know they have been working hard and ready to get at it. Enjoyed the 100 yard skit with coach Sullivan and canât wait to see the rest of them and as usual go PANTHERS!!!

Pikeville will be hard to beat this year by any team 3A and below, including Belfry. I think their that talented. I've picked the Panthers since the end of last year to be the favorite in 1A this year. Alot of these kids are my son's age, c/o 2020, and they've played against each other since 6th grade. We played Pikeville 3 times when Ethan was in 8th grade, the year we went undefeated and won the championship in 2015, and all 3 games went to the wire. When Pikeville beat Belfry a couple of years ago at the high school level it was an upset IMO but if they beat us this year or next year it WON'T be an upset. I really think their that good. Either way I'll be rooting for Pikeville to win every game this year except when they play the Pirates and I expect them to win it all this year. Good Luck Panthers.

Those two games are the prize ( sure they want to win them all and I would like to see that also) but get better every week and work hard in practice and hope for a injury free year and do your job and good things will happen. With that said go PANTHERS!!!

I like you 55PirateFan really believe in these Panthers, can they beat Belfry I think so but will it happen thatâs to be seen. Belfry as you probably know is where I played and my son also, but these game can really help these young man to help them develop for what is more important than this game (maybe not in every ones eyes) to get to the real goal. I am just the opposite of you I hope Belfry wins every game but this one. Belfry is loaded in talent this year and as you commented on until 2020 it could be some good games. So good luck to the Belfry Pirates and I will keep up with them but as always go PANTHERS!!!

Strong schedule for the Panthers. Most likely will be one of the strongest, if not the strongest in 1-A. Got family in Covington, and talk of a three peat for Beechwood is floating around Northern Ky. area. Getting by Pikeville, and maybe a couple others in the East should be of great concern for Beechwood. Jmo.

Beechwood is not overlooking anybody. Of course people are talking about trying to 3 Peat, the goal every year is to win a state title, this would just so happen to be the third year in a row if it happens. If anything, I would say that the Pikeville fans have already started crowning the Panthers as the 1A state champs. Pikeville is definitely a title contender, but don't sleep on the Tigers, because I can guarantee you, they aren't sleeping on any of the title contenders from the East.

Read the post again. NOBODY said anything about "crowning the Panthers already". Nobody said anything about "sleeping on Beechwood." Just saying it's going to be very competitive this season in 1-A come playoff time. Notice also, I said "maybe a couple other teams in the East". NOT just Pikeville. Don't read into something that's not there.

It sounds like you are the one reading into people talking about a 3 Peat and looking for bulletin board material. The goal every year at Beechwood is a title, this year is no different. If the year ends short of that, then it's a disappointment, so you better believe the kids are striving for that and the community is talking about it. Don't think for one second that Pikeville, Raceland, Hazard, and Paintsville don't always have our attention in Fort Mitchell. I for one would love to see Beechwood end their time in 1A by lining up for all the marbles against longtime rival Pikeville in Lexington.

I would, too but going to the championship game should be every football teams goal plus winning it.i for one and all the other Pikeville fans would like to see a championship this year. Could they we think they can but will they. Itâs a tough road and we just have to wait and see. The east is far more challenging than the West (or at least it has been). But good luck to the Beechies and if they meet they will crown the champions. Heck I just like to see the 1 peat then worry about 2 peat but as always GO Panthers!!! PS and that 3 peat stuff is definitely bulletin board material for all of the teams in the East

KCD was the toughest team Beechwood saw in single A last year, so I would say they were 1 and 2, but the next 4 teams were all from the East, so overall the East was deeper.

Now, this year, the East will be much better than the West, that's not even a debate.

I donât agree with that either. There is no way to tell who was second best without playing and you definitely donât want to go by scores but if you do I can debate that. To me Raceland was the next best team because they won their way there. Not trying to be smart or anything else just the way I feel. Beechwood is #1 right now until someone beats them and they are always a very good and well coached team. Good luck HillBilly and again Go PANTHERS!!!

From how the way the title game ended up I can see how that can be. Each team matches up differently. Raceland deserved their trip to the title game but I think Hazard and Paintsville both matched up better last year even though neither of those teams made it past the others district foe.
Beechwood probably will not be challenged in 2018 on the west side as most teams are rebuilding and two that I think may are Crittenden and Campbellsville.
But letâs get back to Pikeville 2018. I think they are the #2 in 1A to start the season followed by Raceland, Hazard then Paintsville.
Itâs hard to not put a team that basically returns everyone at #2 because they improved leaps and bounds after the quarterback change last season. They have athletes all over the field. But the fun thing about 2018 I think any of the 4 could win the east that I mentioned earlier. It just depends luck and how the injury bug hit each team.

Pikeville fans have always respected Beechwood's program, and for what they've done for 1-A football through the years. Pikeville and Beechwood's history go way back. I do agree with you on one thing Hillbilly. There's nothing better than lining up against Beechwood at Kroger field in early Dec. for a classic Pikeville/Beechwood contest. Wishing Beechwood a successful (except, if you play Pikeville), and injury free season.

Panthers return 20 of 22 positions this season, if i'm not mistaken. Hope everyone stays healthy, and the talent is there, just need to put it to work.

Not bull butter, it's a fact!!!
KCD was down 14-7 at half, and was very much in the game up until the 4th quarter.
The best team from the East was run out of the stadium by Beechwood. Raceland had a whopping 27 yards of offense, and just 3 at half time. You can tell yourself all you want about how much tougher the big, bad East was, but facts are facts. I know you can't compare scores, I'm going by the eyeball test. I saw every top team from the East, and KCD was better than all of them. They had more balance on offense, and far more team speed than the teams from the East. So I will say it again, KCD was the 2nd best team in 1A, the next best 4 were from the East.
On another note, I didn't hear too many teams from the East begging to be in the West when Mayfield was in 1A. The balance of power is cyclical, from 2007-2014, Beechwood, Mayfield, and to a lesser extent, Frankfort were usually 3 of the top 5 teams in 1A. 6 of the 8 titles in that time frame were won by the West.
06-25-2018, 04:06 PM
I apologize to the Pikeville fans, this thread is about their team. I fully expect them to be representing the East in Lexington this season, but that is definitely far from a given because there are other teams that are capable of knocking them off. Best of luck to Pikeville and all of the teams in the East this season, and I hope that Beechwood is left standing from the West. This will be Beechwood's swan song in 1A, so let's hope everyone stays healthy, and that the best team is hoisting the trophy in Lexington!

Here is the facts KCD beat Frankfort 28 to 21 and Williamsburg beat Frankfort bad and Pikeville put a running clock on Williamsburg by half now Williamsburg has one of their best players out but that is why I says you canât compare scores itâs all about match ups and on any given night it can a different game. Yes Beechwood was by far the best team in 1A last year but itâs a different year and maybe one of the four headed monsters out of the east can dethrone them this year but that is yet to be seen. Good luck to Beechwood this year and all teams hope for a injury free season for all teams but as usual GO Panthers!!!
