Trueblue is NOT going to appreciate what you are insinuating!

we know PT does it the right way and only saves dying family members via high school football.

Yea. OSH i just wish my school would catch on. We got a few young players last year but middlesboro hasn’t had any luck with getting a big time transfer in a minute.
Just my opinion, if a kid is coming in looking for a check, he'd need to be a second to none player. The Hunter kid is good but Quisenberry last year was better just judging by the film while also seeing MQ in person a few times.

If he’s looking for a check then I doubt that he comes to Boyle.

I'm looking for a check. I want a big check. I can't play a lick of ball anymore, but I am a 5-***** asshole. Just want a check. Would someone give me a check?

Trueblue is enjoying looking at that 4A state championship trophy and living in your mind rent-free, but probably not as much as you enjoyed your 5 years in third grade

I am a big Middlesboro fan. In the Old School days, Corbin and Middlesboro were big rivals, in the same district. Winner of the C-M game won district, the other team went home. It was an awesome rivalry. GREAT games, GREAT teams!!!  I'm convinced that the Corbin-Middlesboro teams in '76 were two of the very best in the state, regardless of class. Corbin won 10-9  in the 'Boro and went on to beat Maygfield 6-0 for the state title. Middlesboro was every bit as good. I really want to see the Jackets return to the dominant powerhouse they were in the seventies and eighties. I root hard for the Jackets, as do most in Corbin. We love and respect our old rivals like Middlesboro, Somerset, and Mayfield. GO JACKETS!!!

I've been pulling for Corbin quite a bit. Especially since You all moved from our district in 2A to Bells district in 3A there for a while. The rise of Corbin football ever since about Haddix's second year forward has made local football way more exciting. The 2023 Corbin Frederick Douglas game was the best high school football atmosphere that I've witnessed in person. And the game lived up to the hype as well. I literally felt like i was watching two college teams between the talent on the field and the large fanbases on both sides.

I was at that game, dandy football game. I also got to watch Boyle later that year at Frederick Douglass. Two good games to watch and 3 teams that year worthy of watching. If you live in this area of the 13th region speaking in basketball language, you better go catch a game at Corbin when they play a worthy opponent. That stadium atmosphere is unreal. Saw pictures of the renovations to the visitor's side going on and should make it even that much nicer.  If I saw the scheduling right on the Harlan County thread, they will be playing the first game of the year at Corbin against Clay County. I'm not for sure if its correct but I think that's how its listed. Corbin should be a good football team this year. Bring back some dandy athletes. New era behind the center with new play calling. Should be interesting.
Whos gonna be the 4A surprise team this year?

That could be a complete surprise-or no surprise at all.
It would seem on paper there are 5-6 teams that are riding a good wave of talent and momentum in the 4A ranks.
My guess is it will take several weeks for a more clear favorite to shake out.
That being said this could be a year where a dark horse makes a big charge at the end of the season.

I remember those games. In 1981, the Corbin-Middlesboro game was all everyone talked about that week when I was at Eastern.
Cawood was in that district from 66 to the realignment in 75. Cawood moved up to 3A and won a regional championship the first year after getting away from Corbin and Middlesboro.

Greg Taylor. I played baseball and softball with him. Great running back. His son, Trent Taylor, played for the 49'ers and then for the Bengals in their Superbowl year.  Remember the AFC Championship in KC when the Bengals came from behind and won on the McPherson FG at the end? Trent was the guy who caught the two point conversion from Joe Burrow to tie the game at 21.

Btw, the night before, and even the morning of that '81 game with Middlesboro, Greg was in the hospital on a IV because of a virus he had contracted.  Greg is now a motivational speaker who speaks to business professionals all over the country.  He is the author of the book,  Find Your Winning Edge.
Trent Taylor, Greg Taylor's son, grew up in Corbin and lived here until he was about 8 or so. Here's Trent catching the tying two point conversion against the Chiefs in the AFC Championship a few years ago.

Wow. Thats pretty Bada$$. I could tell the Dad was a special athlete but that explains alot. Just curious old school. How many D1 players u think corbin had on that team. Middlesboro's QB/S  Brain Williams went on to play at kentucky. Other than that i dont know most of the players but i can tell it was a special time to be a middlesboro or corbin fan with that amount of talent on that field and the stands being packed all the way up to the goal post.

There was nothing... I mean NOTHING like that Corbin-Middlesboro rivalry in the 70's and 80's. Two of the best programs in the state, regardless of class. In many of those seasons that Corbin won the district, the Jackets were good enough to win the state. That's the reason so many Corbinites are big Middlesboro rooters to this day. We have fond memories of those great rivalry games and have nothing but respect for those great Jacket teams. I know I'm not just speaking for myself when I say that we , here in Corbin, want to see Middlesboro be a football powerhouse again.
^^^^

As much as Corbin and Middlesboro respected each other back in the day, those rivalry games were fierce, man. Fans would be lined up three and four rows deep on the sidelines, which, on occasion would create quite the powderkeg.

I've told this story on here before. September 17, 1976 . I rode to the 1976 clash at Middlesboro with a friend of mine. He was a loud-mouthed , arrogant son-of-a-gun. As that incredible game ended, with Corbin winning an emotional 10-9 game that effectively ended the Jackets' hopes for the postseason , my chum was doing his loud-mouthed, arrogant thing. Two Middlesboro fans trook exception to the loud mouth braggart. One of them pulled a swith blade knife, with every intent on doing some slicing and dicing of my friend and I. Fortunately for me and the loud mouth, Corbin's fearsome maniac of a lineman, first-team All Stater, R.C. Thomas , who I shared a class with that year, came along at just the right time and made them scatter. Oh, the irony! The guy who saved me from being "O.J. Simpsoned" that night would make news all across the state three years later when he woke up one night , got a butcher knife from his mother's kitchen , and butchered his mother and nephew to death at his mother's home in Gray, just outside of Barbourville.

I’ce heard alot about the old middlesboro corbin games. I must say your story is hilarious with your friend getting a knife pulled on yall but the RC stuff i hate to hear. Reminds me of some of the older stories ive I’ve heard about middlesboro player bimbo fuson from the 70s who went  to Kentucky and got kicked off the team and then at some point went home and killed his brother and went to prison for life. Guy supposedly had offers Alabama during that time which is crazy.
Has anyone heard if the Hunter kid has landed anywhere?

I was goofing off when i said Frederick Douglas was in the running however if he’s being shopped around the area I wouldn’t doubt it but i had no sources on that.
Old School, I tell you, it is so odd about RC Thomas and Bimbo Fuson, who I remember well, btw. Both of them were tremendous talents. RC was the most intimidating presence I have even seen on a HS football field. He was simply a powderkeg waiting to explode. Both RC and Bimbo went to UK and both were kicked off the team. RC was kicked off the first day of practice for fighting one of the teams stars, a black running back by the name of Rod Stewart. Both RC and Bimbo returned home and killed family members with Bimbo killing his brother and RC stabbing his mother and nephew to death , in a grotesque and bloody nightmare in Gray, KY. Sends chills down your spine just thinking about the eerie similarities of their stories.
