Evans out at Knox Central
William Muney Wrote:The head coach of any sport needs to be in the building. It is not a job u want someone showing up at the dismissal bell doing.

Thats not true in the 13th Regions and 14th Basketball.

Clay County last 2 yrs 13th Region Champ...coach does not work in the building.
Knott County Central last 3 yrs 14th Region Champ and will more than likely win in 2014/2015 again. Coach does not work in the building. The dismissal bell is working.....just sayin :truestory:
One name not being mentioned that has applied for the job, and is VERY interested in the job and would do VERY well with this bunch is Kevin Spurlock. He knows this region, knows the officials, and can take Knox to the next level to where they have always wanted to be, which is playing with the big boys and seriously competing for the 13th region championship! Don't be surprised to see him on the sidelines for the Panthers!

To much baggage.

Yes me too just don't see that happening.
What's the hold up on getting a coach? Who has actually put in and are strong candidates for the job?

What's the rush??? I like how the Admin. Is taking their time and looking at all options. This is gonna be a very big job for somebody, and whoever that is, needs to be somebody they feel can handle the pressure. So I say take your time KC and get the BEST person for the job. If I know the guys that are hiring, they will not break under political pressure. I believe they will hire who they feel will do the best job for the program .

Go Panthers!!!!!:rockon::rockon:
Why not Spurlock? What baggage? Who doesn't have baggage? After trying for the homeruns, who else is better than Spurlock? Many district championships, a regional championship, a regional runner-up. And that's since 2006. What has Knox done since 2006? They've had great talent, but still can't get by Corbin, Clay, and South. Spurlock is the one who could do that because Knox has better, MUCH BETTER, talent than what he had back when he was at Clay.

You allmost sound like Spurlock.:pondering:
Knox Central has some talent, but it's not better than what Spurlock had at Clay, or Hazard or Perry Central.
^^^ for about the 900th time on here Spurluck won at Hazard and was only at Perry for 1 year and lost to a better team (Knott)... No one else has beat Knott in the last 3 years but Spurlock gets dogged for it..
I'm not criticizing him or anyone else, if you're talking about what I posted. I just compared the talent level. Do you think Knox has better talent than Hazard and Perry in those years?
^No but Hazard won, and Perry ran into Knott... Knox does have some talent tho!
I'll tell you why I wouldn't hire spurlock, never mind what baggage you all are taking about, I'd be worried about him coming in for a year or two, and then trying to use your best players to get him another job, does anyone think he would have been hired by perry central unless he promised to bring Johnson with him from Martin co? I would say Johnson leaving Sheldon Clark to go with spurlock cost that community at least one trip to the sweet 16
^^ if u asked every coach in the state if they would leave Sheldon Clark for Perry they all would say YES!

Also u have to look at it this way Justin Johnson wouldn't have went to Perry if Spurlock didn't go!
I'm not saying he shouldn't have left. Maybe not all coaches would have though, easier region to win in the 15? But you don't think he used Johnson as leverage to get the PC job? And don't you think he recruited him to go with him so he could get that job? I just looking from the outside it's what it looked like however I have to admit I have no idea about the situation, it's just something would concern me if I was making the hire at Knox
Haven't posted on this but I'll tell you what Knox should be concerned with. They should be concerned with hiring someone that can finally win the big one. Boatloads of talent, as far as the 13th region goes, for years and nothing to show for it. I know other teams have been talented and brought in recruits, but out of all the years you would think that Knox Central could win it once. Hire a winner.
I did not say anything about Knox having better talent than Hazard or Perry when Spurlock was there. I only said Clay. Those 4 years Clay had some decent talent, but no where near what Knox has coming back. And those were the years Corbin and South were still the BIG DOGS who no one could beat. As for Spurlock going to Perry, he already took the job before Johnson decided to go there. Johnson transferring was just an added bonus. BUT, no one looks at what Perry did the year before Spurlock and the year after Spurlock. I think Perry lost in the first round of the district to Buckhorn the year before, and then lost in the first round of the region to Knott this past season. At least Spurlock won the WYMT, district, and made it to the regional finals. Which causes me to say that there is no one else around who is better for the Knox job. You Knox fans want to a shot a winning the region, Spurlock is your man. Everywhere he's been his teams have been at the top of the region with a shot. That's all you need. And no, this isn't Spurlock. Spurlock was NEVER a DAREDEVIL!
Oh well, I hope this works out.
