Probably already mentioned but I will before I sign off tonight.
Justice had 97 points in the 4 games.
Ballard had closed to trail 59-55 before Shelby Valley ended game on 14-6 run
Ramey hit a three pointer for Shelby Valley-I believe Mike Fields says this is the basket that put Shelby Valley ahead for good. So that only leaves me two points unaccounted for. Could be Ramey or somebody else other than 4 top scorers.
..But an impressive season and tournament including being first team to win All A State Title and Sweet Sixteen in same year.

A big congrats should go out to Roberts and Greg, your guidance of these young men from an early age has showed throughout their careers. Their perserverance on the court and their attitudes and respectfulness off the court was their rock.......and to those boys, way to achieve at the highest level. You boys deserve everything you have achieved! You've been a great influence and role model for all the young kids that look up to you, both on and off the court. CONGRATS! :1:

First off congrats to SV, their fans, parents, coach Booher, and most important their players! Something to ponder... In the state of KY each year only one team in the entire state ends their season with a win... In 2010 that team is Shelby Valley!!!! I think back to the late 80's and Richie Farmer with Clay Co.. Well EJ, Hatfield, T. Newsome x 2, and Cody Varney did something very similar. Congrats to these boys as I'm sure there has been lots of blood, sweat, and tears left on that floor at SV and now it has paid off in a big way!!! EJ is Mr. Basketball!!! Should be a story for the ages!!!!! There will be many fathers in Eastern KY who will tell this story to their sons and use it as an example of what hard work and dreaming big will get you!!!!

Congratulations to Shelby Valley on winning the state title. All of us in the mouintains are proud. Especially your next door neighbors in Letcher County.

By the way, the 2 points that were not accounted for in an earlier post were by Tyler N

I have been watching this same group of kids since they were in 7th grade, since then you knew if they stayed together they were going to be something really special. I am happy to see this bunch of kids do something that had never been done by a Pike Co. team. The coaching staff, players and fans at Valley have earned my repect over the years. Congrats on the win, eat this feeling up, next year wont be the same with out this group of kids on the floor. I really think the area should get behind these kids even more now and it would be nice to have an ceremony for them at the Expo for the entire community to get out and show their support even more.
After EJ's performance in this tournament he def. deserves Mr. Basketball

Another Achievement that has not been mentioned: SV finishes the year with the best record in the state at 32-4!

All I can say is Wow. Throughout this season a lot of people doubted Shelby Valley because they were from east KY and they didnât play a tough schedule. It was said that Valley couldnât play with the big city boys. Well once again they were wrong. Congratulation SV on a magical season. We love you in East Ky.

Thanks Robert and Uncle Greg, all the years of hard work and preparation culminated in one final game, and there is NO better way to send these guys off!!!
Knowing they will never play together under the same premise and name is sad, but all things must come to an end. As these boys go their separate ways, the way they played the game will always stick with me. I've never had more fun watching a group of guys play basketball, and that all started when they were young and came together for the first time.
They surprised the heck out of every crowd that happened upon their games. After Shelby Valley beat Mason County today, I heard Robert say, teary-eyed, "We've been doing this for years now, going up against the big guys and winning. People would laugh at us as we came into the gym, but before you knew it, they couldn't help but come back to watch us play, again."
I'll always wish I could watch them play one more time, but instead, I will always have this perfect memory of the final game at Rupp. Together, this was the biggest stage and the highest stakes they could EVER be able to play for, and they went out victorious. What a story-book ending to a tale that started years ago.

Well I never thought I would say this as a grown man, but a couple tears fell from my eyes when the last seconds ticked down off the clock. I was so happy for what these GREAT young men accomplished. They will be remembered for a long time to come and these boys deserve it all.
BTW, there will be a motorboat(sp) at the Pike/Floyd Co. line at 2:15pm Sunday evening... All you supporters should come out and follow them back to Valley to show these young men how much they meant to the community! If you can't make the motorboat(sp) then they will be arriving at Shelby Valley High School around 3pm.

Congrats Valley. It is amazing what you have accomplished. And you have always done it with class. Congrats.

I have never been so proud to be a Wildcat, this group of boys was told time and time again that they couldn't win the big one, but here we are.
One person that deserves some recognition is Randy Davis. I think he is the one person (besides Elisha) that is the most responsible for the player that Elisha Justice is today. The Dorton Middle School program is one of the classiest ran programs in the state. Elisha got tons of experience from his time at Dorton and got the chance to play year round competitive basketball against the best competition in the state.
Randy Davis and Greg Newsome are as responsible for this state title as any one outside of the players IMO.

I knew they were always good, but didnt know who were responsible for the program. I worked with one of the parents of a Valley player and we became best buddies. He let me in on the insight of the program, and he mentioned Randy and Gregs names a hundred times. I grew to become a fan of Valley basketball through the people I worked with.

A big congrats valley. You played your hearts out. I'm sure all of Knott County was cheering for you.

As a former 15th region coach and fan, I would like to say congrats to the Shelby Valley basketball team and to Coach Booher. Players win games but you can't underestimate the importance that your head coach had on this outcome. We have some quality coaches in the 13th 14th, and 15th, regions. Great Job Shelby Valley!

Congrats to the Valley Players on a BIG W and for bringing home the Trophy to the Mountains! :1:

WOW, Big Congrats to Valley and Staff. you all played like Champions and now it is playing off. Its been a real honor watching and listening to this years team, kinda hate to see it end. The place at Rupp was rocking last night... Justice has Mr.Basketball hands down, he was truly the best player at State this year.
I wish everyone of you great future's in whatever you do. Im glad I was able to follow you this year, as you made EVERYBODY PROUD..
Way to go!!!

Congrats to the Wildcats and Elisha Justice!! Maybe everyone now knows why everyone in EKY thinks SV is #1 because they are and no one can argue against that!!:1:

Anyways, congrats Valley on a well deserved state title.
Man just shut up if the fans, parents, coaches or alum feel like their on top fine. As a matter of fact if all of east Ky. wants to feel on top fine. You have no ideal how much other people contribited to this victory. Pee-wee coaches and volunteers, aau leaders, volunter refs, anyone who helped in fund raising over the years, parents who spent a lot of money(sometimes money they needed elsewhere) Yes the kids won but if you think for a minute they could have won without all this help you're nuts. I played for Virgie many years ago and I feel good about the win myshelf.

Awesome run guys. If Elisha doesn't win Mr. Basketball then the whole process will be garbage. He is the best player and leader in the state. Congrats to all the Valley boys.

Shelby Valley was playing out of their minds throughout the tournament. They were well represented by not only Valley fans, but fans from around the state pulling for the small school. Seemed like the whole arena was going for Valley last night.
The State Championship and Mr. Basketball awards have/will be going to their rightful place at Shelby Valley.
Congrats Wildcats!!!
