PC (9-2) 2009 Wrote:Everyone puts SC high on this list on every post....I know SC has a great past and a tradition, but their excuse last year with the 40-18 lost to PCC was not having 5-6 players, so with the loss of as much as 9, how will this effect SC in 2010? I know PCC, has replaced their loss with equal talent, so has everyone else? For all the people who don't even have Pike Central on their top 10, you may think Pike Central will only win one game, but your team may be that win...Who knows??????
5 players were out , 4 underclassmen and 1 senior all starters on both sides of the ball makes a huge difference, but you know that from watching the regional championship. But keep recruiting Breathitt county,Perry county, and any other counties but stay out of Martin County we kill SNAKES in the grass not breed them. Good luck getting away with it, just more motivation for teams on your schedule!

LClion4life Wrote:Mason County football players are getting a lot interest from college football recruiters. Senior wide receiver Colt Fearis signed with Georgetown College last week, and Mason County Coach David Buchanan says he looks for two or three more current seniors to sign with colleges, but it's the next two classes that are drawing the interest from big schools.
While there are currently no scholarship offers, the college coaches want several players to attend their camps. Buchanan says Kentucky, Texas Tech, Illinois and North Carolina State want to see junior quarterback Neal Pawsat throw. Buchanan says he has been told Pawsat is one of Texas Tech's top three to five quarterback prospects. Buchanan says North Carolina State wants to see five quarterbacks- three players in North Carolina, one in Pennsylvania and Pawsat. The recruitment of Pawsat has led to coaches asking about other Mason County players.
Buchanan says after initially calling about Pawsat, Illinois watched video and expressed interest in Jordan Gilbert, Josh Harris, Alex Newton and Tyler Black. Buchanan says Duke became interested in Gilbert after watching Pawsat's video.
While Newton plays offensive tackle for the Royals, Buchanan says he is thinking about maybe pushing Newton as an offensive guard.
"Eastern [Kentucky] already has a very strong interest in Alex and wants him at camp," Buchanan said.
Harris, a sophomore running back and linebacker, is also getting his share of attention. "Probably the most enthusiasm for Josh so far has been UK and Ohio State," Buchanan said.
Harvard has sent a questionnaire to Harris.
"All these kids are helping each other, "Buchanan said.He says it's going to open some doors for other juniors including Carson Gray, Austin Berry and Xavia Shurn.

Play nice now, no one is recruiting anyone, you may need to talk to the parents of any kid coming to Pike Central, and ask if they were recruited...I didn't think so... Some people transfer for a wide selection of reasons, maybe its...........Education??? And no one wants to recruit anyone, we could have used John Wall this year in basketball, but I think we'll do just fine in football this up coming year.....I guess everyone must start early with any excuse, just in case their team falls victim to "ALL" these recruits...."RIGHT"!

KHSAA will talk to them soon enough and I hope all transfers will be ruled eligible ,because everyone needs an excuse when they play PCC..."Right"!.....

I kinda hope KHSAA rules they can not play, just for the fact that everyone thinks Pike Central is out recruiting, when the fact is the kid from B-county's mom is getting divorced and her family is here, so that is the reason for the transfer....As for the Perry County kid, I don't know if he will beat out #3 Landon Tackett from the JV last year, so where does everyone get that PCC needs all this help? As for your post....everyone is terrified now...maybe they won't even play the game since you have already got an inside track as to who will win? Just keep thinking SC has nothing to worry about, we like it that way, but who knows....Your inside track may be wrong. :dontthink

No more need to debate the issue, see you in the fall:argue:

they put them so high because all our starters have started since 10th-9th grade and they lift all year round, and only 6 of those seniors started. and this time we will be able to replace those 6 because we have plenty of time to replace them not just a week. we have 3 RBs that are as strong as many of high schools linemen, and our linemen all range from the siz of 6'4 to 6'. and the weekest linemen we have that will start benchs aorund 250, every other one gets over 3 and 1 in the 400s. and there not jus strong but fast 3 of them are being recruited by several D1 schools.
i can go on why we are high on the lists if that would make u happy.

So the only reason Sc beat pike central was because pike central played Mason County the week before? Thats very interesting cuz if I remeber correctly in the 1st round of the playoffs Sc beat a very talented and traditionly good team in Russel. I believe Pike central played Fleming County, I might be wrong. In the 2nd round Sc had to travel to pond creek and anyone who has ever played there knows that isnt easy to win there at all, but SC did beat that Belfry team the same exact one that beat Pike central in the regular season! In the 3rd round, third staright road game they beat Pike Central and you might remeber the play right before halftime that turned the whole game around, yeah I caught that pass! So you can tell me who u think had the thoughest road to the Regional Championship game. Thank you

I saw that game! The play you mentioned was most definitely a "game changer." You made a phenomenal catch and Brad threw a fantastic pass.
That play certainly gave you guys the momentum going into the locker room at the half.

Best of luck this season. I know you guys know what luck is, so it can happen. Luck is simply preparation meeting up with opportunity. And from what I hear, you guys are working hard, preparing for 2010.

Im thinking otherwise. :]. Pike Central shouldn't have made it past Mason County. Mason County without Pawsat wasn't Mason. Hey ill take losing a regular season game any day and winning the Regional Championship. :]

Here's a tidbit to ponder. KJ Washington, a sophomore 6' 2" offensive starter for Tilghman last year, just ran an 11.6 100m and a 22.5 200m at the Hopkinsville Invitational, according to Kymilesplit. Washington is an offensive guard.

I am just wondering where you are getting all your intell? The only sophomore that has for sure left and went to Pike Central is Cory Shouse. All the other Sophomores are still there as of today 4-29-10. So I am just wondering who is spreading that rumor?

Someone please explain to me why everyone keeps placing Mason County so high and Pike Central so low when they beat them in the second round?

Sure will....

Pike Central beat Mason County without their star QB and Mason returns more skill players from last season then Pike Central. Seems like a pretty fair arguement personally.

Why do Pike Central fans continue to put Pike Central ahead of Henry County and Belfry? Confusedhh:

Henry County, I dont know. Pike Central played them for the first time last year and didnt give them as good of a game as they would have if the game was later in the season. As for Belfry, Pike Central controlled the majority of that game and should have won. But although PC loses a lot, they have a DEEP bench and about 5 new players.:1:

Henry got much better later in the year as well, they had a brand new defense and during the first week they only played base defense vs. PCC, you don't play series in football you get one shot a year.

Love the colors. But a average team. Even as of last year.

You controlled the game right up to the point when it mattered. Pike Central is high up on their horse now, but the bottom line is the only 2 quality wins they had all year (SC & Mason Co) was when the other team had players out.

Nothing in this post disputes the point I made.

I am all for Pike Central's improvement as a program and it will only make the region and the county stronger for the upcoming years. But, some of this newfound Hawk enthusiasm needs to be tempered. PC made huge strides last year but their wins were against teams missing key components. They are still 0 for forever vs. Belfry and until proven otherwise the District Title must come through Inez this year no matter how much it disgusts me to say that Big Grin

Hey Ill take it coming through Inez this year, gas has just been to high lately to go pond creek

I hear that Trimble County is going to forfeit their game against Pike Central.
#85
Not being nasty but from the sound of it, everyone better forefit... NOT!
I also agree with EKU that Pike Central was much improved and improvement will do nothing but make this region stronger... BUT, overbragging can sometimes lead to let down. All I'm saying is don't say you can ride that horse if the saddle is too big!!! Smile

You can say players were injured.
You can say players were sick.
You can argue players lacked effort.
You may cite early season conditioning.
You can blame grades.
You can say coaches erred.
You can say it was officiating.
You can say the other team played dirty.
You can say it was too muddy.
Or too hot.
Or too cold.

It the end. It doesn't matter. The score is the record. There are no asterisks. Nobody really cares about what could have been. Talk is cheap.

We can say that then we played them again and when we had everyone back then what was the outcome.

I think it's good that the Hawk fans are proud and expecting an even more exciting season than last year. Once the season starts....you can throw out all history.....that's why the games are played each year. I tnink that the Hawk fans are just trying saying that those teams that normally automatically put the Hawks in their win category may need to wait until the game is played this season. There are no guarantees either way.....just some excitement......nothing wrong with that.

According to their roster from last season he is listed as wearing number 7. He can't play guard with that jersey number. Has he changed positions?

talk is very cheap, unless u proved your point by beating them when you had your players back, wich we kinda sorta did, so we can talk all we like cuz we won the region. so we kinda have sumthin to talk about. cuz it felt pretty nice to hold that trophy on that field after i had to hear them talk about beating us.
