Boyle County 13 Bell County 10 (4A Semifinal)

Has Barsotti kicked many this year? Great kick under heavy pressure. Congrads to both teams on great seasons.

I thought he had kicked one all year against West Jessamine. But a Rebel fan told me he had not kicked one all year successfully. So the first two of the season come at the best time and supplies the margin of victory.

So I thought I'd bump it up. Let's hear it folks.

Stats according to AM News:

Bell Boyle

First Downs 8 18
rushing Yards 85 218
Passing Yards 122 51

Boyle had the only turnover in the game on the first play.

MacShara had 194 yards on 34 carries

Davenport had 53 yards on 22 carries

That kind of tells the tale. Boyle was physical on both sides of the ball when it counted the most, the 2nd half.

I would love to see time of possesion. Bell had the long TD drive in the 1st quarter and that was about all they did. For the last 3 quarters Boyle had to be close to 30 minutes and Bell 6. Boyle just methodically drove down the field and wore down the bigger, faster Bell team. As someone said, they knew what was coming and they just kept pounding it down their throats. Besides the 2 long deep balls in the second half Bell got nothing. Question for the Bell fans. I saw on the extra point your kicker looked a little shaky. Was that the reason Hilton went for it on 4th and 9 and didn't attempt about a 30 yard field goal in the 3rd quarter?

Did anybody see the girl from the Bell County side lines (a trainer or something) try to go after Boyle fans and team when they swarmed the field at the end? She was dressed in brown Carharts and a blue and white hat. At one point she ripped her jacket off and was lunging at people down around the ten yard line near the Boyle sideline. One of the Bell people (a coach perhaps) was holding her back. I was near the top row of the stands on the home side and watched it for several minutes. I told my wife that I wish she would get past the coach so someone would knock her on her ***. That and the headbutt on Lamar Dawson in the first quarter (everyone in the stadium but the officials saw it) were two nasty things that didn't quite meet the "great sportsmanship" label that some keeping throwing out on here.

His first attempt of the season was in the playoff game against West Jessamine and it was no good. The two against Bell were his first two successful kicks of the season. That says something about your offense when your first field goal try was in the 13th game of the season!

And the punch 14 threw at Lamar in the 1st quarter. The ref was right there when he did it and nothing was called. If Lamar hadn't of been falling back he would of connected.

On another website (:eyerollSmile a Bell fan posted that two Boyle "trolls" (his words, not mine) had said derogatory things to two Bell players on the field after the game and that was her reaction (or over reaction).

If I had a dollar for every time an adult or kid said something to me after a game I probably would have invested it and would not be working right now. Every team and every venue has those moments. I think I also heard of something similar last year somewhere else.

How did the field hold up last night?

I'm sure glad it wasn't at Centre College with all the fans that showed up and all the concession and gate money made.
#70
I'm not sure who made the call for Bell to run out on the field to start the game 30 feet away from where Boyle did but it was crazy. You had Boyle and Bell players jawing at each other and they let the Bell fans form a line for them to run thru and you had about 5 Bell fans turned around jawing at the Boyle players. It was quite the scene before they both ran out.

Clutch is the best word.

A "Steely Eyed Missile Man" to quote Apollo 13.

As was Rees. 34 carries is the most he's had I think and 180+ yards is the most Bell has given up in who knows how long?

Both teams left it on the field and that's all you can ask in any game.

I though it did OK. Rees slipped a couple of times and got up limping once. I didn't see any big chunks coming up though.

Intimidation tactics don't work for either of these two teams. Dumb move on whoever thought that was a smart move.

Hope he has one more great game on a turf field left in him. He shouldn't slip there too much.

Congrats to Boyle Co and Boone! Hats off to a great Bell Co. team. Sounds like we missed a heck of a game.
#76
Will any of you Bell County fans be making the trip to Bowling Green to root for the Rebels? We'd love to have you. Several Lawrence County and West Jessamine fans were in the stands last night cheering for Boyle. Also saw several Danville, Garrard County, Lincoln County, and even two Somerset fans. We are like a church; all are welcome and there is always room for one more!

WOW what a game. Who had thought it would come down to Field Goal kicking to win this game? When Bell Co got up 10-0 I knew we still didnt have it in the bag. The only thing I regret being a Bell fan was when it was 4th and 9 on the 13 and we went for it instead of a FG. If we had made that, the FG Boyle Co kicked at the end of the game would had been for the tie instead the win. Bell Co had other RB's and never used them Im still confused on that part. #14 John Dudley Hilton had 550 yards this year as a FB and he touched the ball maybe once or twice.

Also the late hit that was called on Bell I really couldnt see much from my seat because the seating was aweful. That call made the difference in this game. I think Boyle Co threw it on 4th down and was incomplete pass and Bell's ball. Then they threw the flag for that. Boyle Co had there only TD on that drive after the 15 yard penalty that put them on the 20 yard line. They only had to go 20 yards for the score. With a RB like Macsharra thats easy on a first down on the 20.

CONGRATS to Boyle Co!! It was your year. Now im ready for next year only losing 7 Seniors in 09.

Very quiet this morning!!!!
Interestingly enough......I do have a comment to make to tie up this Boyle vs Bell thing. I have watched all season people take shots at teams schedules and actually call kids out by name. Lets see, theres the one about a one man show, and a few posters crucified Lawrence co, Rockcastle. I had some great emails about being a female and didnt know what I was talking about and the infamous dike(correct misspelling and all). Course who could forget the snide, smart remarks from the one whos well connected so he says....there have been a few that I feel crossed the line completely and a few who just danced on it. It was easy enough for people to get on here and talk about spotsman-like conduct but you never showed that to anyone else. You made it easy to hate Bell county and be disrespectful because you never showed any in return. Its good to talk about your team and have confidence, entirely another to degrade. I was told a few of the poster were from last years team. I know your young, but you did a great diservice to your Coach and home team, Coach Hilton appears to be a very respectable guy and hes apparently a **** of a coach! Win with a little grace, it makes you more respectable......
On the other hand Ive made some great friends on here! Even from Bell! You guys are the greatest, Ive had a blast with ya! We will have plenty to talk about next year:Thumbs:

Good game guys!

GO REBELS!!!!!!!

I saw it and let me explain EXACTLY what happened from a very nuetral perspective. I'm a Knox native. I sat on the Boyle side. The game ended and several Bell players fell to their knees in despair. A Boyle fan (female) ran out onto the field and literally stood over top of one of the Bell players and pointed her fingers at him and taunted him. The lady you referred to above from Bell was witness to this and reacted as described. She had to be restrained by others from Bell from attacking the lady who committed this heinous act.

The Boyle fans as a whole were great folks. Their players appeared to be the definition of a class act. BUT - that lady perpetrated one of the MOST classless and mean acts I have ever witnessed in 30 years of football by a fan. The last game of a career ending in loss is devastating and to have a fan rub in a painful loss in such a low and devious way is something those young men will never forget. Frankly, she is blessed to not be healing in a hospital somewhere after having incited a riot. Kudos to the cooler heads that prevailed in what could have been a disaster instead of a celebration.

That Boyle lady is disrespectful and classless person who needs prayer, correction and a lifetime ban from attending sporting events.

Congrats to Bell on another Great seaon. You guys set the standard for excellence in the mountains. Boyle outplayed you last night but you represented us all well. Congrats Boyle - you are an amazing team who I pick to win state. But you really should make sure the lady who pulled that stunt is identified and stays behind so you are not further embarrassed by someone who from what I saw - clearly does not represent you as a whole.

Actually they were a very talented team and just came up a few plays short tonight. Just like Boyle did last year. They were also very talented but came up a couple of plays short. I guess I just prefer intelligent football dialog to trash talking.

Nice class Bell fan. There are several posts on this thread that are clearly intended to draw Bell fans into some sort of agrument. It is a testament to the true sportsmanship that has become typical for Bell fans that you have sustained from entering into this garbage. On the other hand, it does not speak so well for Boyle fans - who frankly escaped a butt whipping by the most narrow of margins on their own field. Nicely done Bell. Class is a waning characteristic in sports these days... Trust me, I'm from Knox...LOL.

This is ignert, I mean come on you all won district, region and went to the state final-four I mean come not alot of teams can say that at all so be proud of that besides attacking other fan bases, you all got beat fair and square by a really good football team overall so accept defeat for once please and just be happy you all had a good season of improvement of schedule strength from the previous year.....ok......and thank you sir.
