Recruiting Russell? Lol. Parents and kids that take athletics seriously don't send their kids to Russell. Their facilities are crap, they couldn't care less about athletics from an administration standpoint, and they don't get their athletes names out there . They cannot beat Raceland in baseball, football, and from the looks of last year now it's basketball too. So who would Raceland "recruit" from there that would magically push them over the top?
If you are a stud athlete and you're looking for exposure it's Ashland or Raceland in this area for football, end of story. No one "recruits". And no stud athletes want to transfer into Russell or Greenup for football. Kids are smart enough to know what programs have their crap together and which ones don't, and choose accordingly. Raceland will be in state championship game again this year, but hoisting the trophy afterwards.

Another Bold Statement from the 0 - Forever  Rams fan base.  Mayfield moved up, Beechwood moved up, now if we can just get Pikeville to move up you may stand a fighting chance to grace that empty spot in the trophy case that you have to Pledge year in and out.

They need Sayre to somehow move up as well!

Let’s hope all the good schools move up a class … ?

Allegedly, there may be an increase in student-athletes transferring from Douglass to Paris. Some believe that family ties between the two teams coaches, won’t allow formal challenges and an easy enrollment process. For example, a student-athlete like Trevion Mizell, who was a reserve at Douglass last year, but now enrolled in Paris, could potentially start for Paris next season while still residing in Lexington, do to their Virtual Academy.

This is in the process of happening, Paris trying to start on online academy that will allow players to be eligible while not living in district. McPeek Magic baby!

In all honesty…that is something that I am surprised isn’t already happening everywhere. My question is this…does it ACTUALLY happen?
#71
And by actually happen I mean kids not living in district playing for a school bc they are enrolled online. Online curriculums are nothing new. Paris has been offering it since ‘23.

This is not uncommon, most schools throughout the state offer a form of Virtual academy as a standard after the pandemic. The uncommon thing would be for the kid to be eligible if he played for McPeek last year, because McPeek NEEEEVVVVVEEEERRRR signs off on kids (reserves or not).  Now that Garry is at Paris I'm assuming that won't be an issue.

Well there was something brewing anyway last year…Paris had two transfers on the roster from FD. Let me say this though, I’m never one to gripe about the transfer deal. I think kids should be able to go where they want.

How is it any different than not living in the district of the school you are enrolled in and attend in person?
#75
I suppose there’s not much of a difference apples to apples, but to me, the difference is the lack of being apart of the school system itself. Being in the hallways, on campus, in the classroom. Just holds more weight for me. I’m an advocate for letting kids play where they want to play. I do feel however, like you still have to draw the line somewhere.
#76
I’ve done some reading and best I can tell it’s up to the school when it comes to eligibility and being 100% enrolled or just taking online classes. I can’t find any definitive verbiage per KHSAA rules. That being said…unless I’m reading something wrong, it’s totally within the rules. So hard to gripe too much.
#77
This stuff makes no sense to me. A kid can’t transfer to a school without a change of address but a kid can’t transfer play football for a school without living in the district and doesn’t even have to attend the school? Make it make sense people
#78
Yea that’s a tough one there.
#79
I would think a change of address will still be required...but we know people find ways around that part of the rule.
