It blows my mind on some of these hires here lately. Hardaway finished the season at 2-8 and this guy allowed 30 ppg as a D-coordinator. I guess I don't get it.

haradaway did make playoffs last year but they got beat 42-9 and it was first time they had made playoffs simce 1999. time will tell but dont look good on paper

Very interesting?? Guess time will tell! Heck we all know what the results will be, the same ole south 3-7, 4-6, 5-5, 2-8, 1-9. Sorry south fans but that's the way it's been over the last several years.

I think anytime a coach with no previous head coaching experience gets a job, it often raises eyebrows. However, I feel that each head coach should be judged on his success as a head coach, not on past success (or failure, for that matter). Maybe this guy has connections, or maybe he's good in an interview. Maybe no one applied?! Who knows?!

I'll say what I said when Whitley Co hired Chappell -
Even if you don't agree with the hire, it's done. We might as well get behind the guy and give him the most support that we can. If we don't do that, then he certainly won't succeed.
As a teacher in South Laurel's district, I wish nothing but the best for Jackson. The kids at South deserve someone who can turn the program around and I hope he is that person.

Not sure what to make of this hire? Does he have any ties to SL?

Well if rumors were true, there were some Head Coaches that did apply. So I guess the powers that be felt he was the best fit. Good luck.

Never heard of him.
How do the South fans feel about this? What has he said in his press conferences?

I can't imagine any of the parents are happy. They had some quality coaches apply.

Has to be some ties to SL or the area? By chance play at Cumberlands, Union, etc?
Totally different world, and no offense to the kids at South or in Kentucky in general, but I've heard coaches who have gone out of state (to SC, GA, etc) say that if a coach can win at any capacity in KY, then they can win in those states.
Not sure what they say if you lose in those states means? Granted he wasn't the HC, either.
Has to be more to the story, but there always is.

I bet he has a connection to Jep Irwin. Guarantee it.

I know that he has family in Kentucky. His wife is actually related to a lady that I work with, and they are from Columbia (Adair Co). He is from Georgia, though.

I really feel for the South Laurel fans evidently the administration don't give a crap about football

Until they decide to stop letting Randy the AD hire, they will never get a quality coach !!

No reason that I know that SL could not be an impact team, JB would be A good hire,

How did spring ball look at South?

If this is true it is very very bad for the program. A school of that size should have atleast 60+ kids every year. But with the way the program has been over the last few years it's also not to surprising either, coach leaves after a year or a coach that can't get it done. I hope SL can get the right person in there to turn this mess around.
07-24-2014, 10:10 PM
Things are tough right now. We shall see if this can get turned around. Numbers are a big concern right now.
07-25-2014, 05:25 PM
Have a connection in that area. Numbers are in the low to mid 40's. Offense is back to the spread system. Not sure about defense. Should be interesting.

If the DC is who I'm told it is...shew lord have mercy! Good luck SL, and I feel sorry for the kids.

Are you serious you wanna keep running your mouth. Don't it get old. You don't know his previous situation or his current situation. Looks like you all get tired of putting your mouth into something that has not one thing to do with. What do you know about defense anyway. I hate looking this crap anyway. He'll leave the man alone. :HitWall::devilflam:gtfo::gtfo:
From what you fans of SL have posted, you indicate to me that you have loosing football no matter who may be the coach. I met your coach I was impressed, I hope he doesn't read this junk you guys have posted, How would you like to take a job, where you know no one, bring your wife and children from 500 miles away meet the welcoming committee and find this.
You guys have the perfect formula for a loosing program, No 1 You indicated several times that you would get a political hire, before they hired your coach. Now you are claiming that it had to be a political hire you are turning over every rock to find the politican that it was but you are unable to find that politican who hired the coach, if you want to improve the situation, the first step you must take is no matter what you think about the coach, he is hired t you must not show any displeasure, give him a chance THE CHILDREN WHO PLAY FOR SL DESERVE that. EVERY FAN MUST GET IN THE BOAT, HIDE YOUR NEGATIVE ATTITUDE. YOU CAN ALWAYS STAY AWAY.

Until laurel co gets some kind of solid youth program nothing will change. North and south will have a good group come thru from time to time and be competitive in some years but not consistently. Pulaski co has youth football as school based and have about 800-900 kids playing youth football in their county and city leagues . laurel co had optimist football till this year and even optimist cancelled the football program for this year. Last couple years optimist in laurel co had about 120 kids playing football. So pulaski co has 800 plus playing and laurel co had 120 easy math there. now laurel co will have zero kids playing football unless they play in corbins league. Its a mess
