Somerset has a TON of Talent , dealing with some early season injuries and you can take this to the bank THE JUMPERS ARE COMING BELFRY AND THEY ARE HUNGRY , I BELIEVE IT WILL BE ONE HELL OF A GAME!!! GO JUMPERS!! 24-21 JUMPERS!!! To the poster that said Somerset is down. That's wrong, 17 Seniors and most have been starting since sophomores!!

I wouldn't say most have been starting since they were sophomores. They may have contributed but most are not 3 year starters. On offense Skidmore, Lange and Cheuvront started as sophomores--Jones in some sets. On defense Jones, Skidmore and Lange started. They're experienced but they did have to replace the bulk of their offensive and defensive fronts and that is where they struggled so much against Pulaski. Hopefully they turn it around and I know they will improve but getting out of Belfry with a win will be a tall order. I just want to see some improvement on the lines and the defense as a whole.

Somerset is not down LOL. We lose one game to a good team that triples the size of our school and the dogs come running. Many of the players had a good amount of time their freshman year mainly because of so many of the blowouts but the previous mentions above were starters for Somerset since sophomore year. The downside is one of those starters is out indefinitely to be ready come district play for sure. This game will be a good one, I see coach Lucas lighting a fire under his team after the disappointment last week. He gave them an easy summer with little contact because he thought his team was experienced enough but i bet he is regretting it now. Belfry will come out and hit Somerset in the mouth but i think it will be much closer than what many think.

I agree with you, if I can see some improvement in Line play on both sides of the ball. Then the Def. make tackles when they get to the ball. I will be happy. If those 2 things happen these Jumpers will be a tough out by the play-offs and we all know that is what it's all about!!!!

Lump me in the "closer than most people think" group. We all know Somerset has the pieces of the puzzle, even if they struggled to get them all fitted together just right last week. I have a feeling they have had an interesting week of practice and will show up in a different frame of mind come Friday. They have enough speed alone to give Belfry trouble, especially considering Belfry has a ton of new people on defense and this will be their first game.

I know the jury is out on this Belfry team with them replacing several players on the front O and D line, also having to replace so many players on the Defensive side of the ball. For some reason I get the feeling that this Pirate team is going to be very dangerous, from what I have been reading they may actually be bigger and more physical then last years team, plus returning all there skill players. Things have been quiet on pond creek so far, I get that erie feeling it could be the calm before the storm!

If the Jumpers find their heart, I'm sure they'll be fine. HUGE challenge awaits but win or lose, if they will compete and improve, good things lie ahead.

I like Belfry easily.
Somerset is a good team this year, but Belfry is a much better team.
For 2A, Somerset is one of the best teams. Playing Pulaski County and Belfry is asking to start 0-2 though.

Of course I am going with Belfry on this one. But I dont think it will be a blow out. Alot of red uniforms will be getting their first taste of varsity action. With only one player having starting time on the offensive line, this unit will have to jell quick. If they do watch out Johnson, Carr, Warren, Hatfield, Taylor and Fletcher could all see the endzone.

This game will be closer than everyone thinks, although the long bus ride will be too much for Somerset. I'll take Belfry in a tough game 27-20.

I love this post!!

I don't believe Somerset was well represented last week. I believe they are a strong, albeit improving, team. I also believe Belfry will be too much for them.
Belfry wins 34/21!
Travel safely Jumpers; may both teams play their best and injury free!
(I don't want to hear any excuses next week!)

For the few who read them my game report on the games from the Pike County bowl will be on Sunday when I get back from Ohio.
I will do at least two of the four games I will be able to watch.
