Predictions and thoughts...
Now that week one is over for the Briarjumpers and Belfry is getting ready to get the season started, there are two questions that loom. Can Somerset rebound after a subpar performance in week one? Second question. Is Belfrys youth upfront and on defense going to sink the Pirates ship?

:truestory: just when you don't play Leslie county.

Belfry.

It will be close....as long as Belfry comes out throwing 50-60 times...if they decide to pound it running the ball, this game could already be over.
Somerset honestly needs to work on what they need to do to get better, more focus on themselves and less on Belfry...IMO.

Belfry by 4 TD's

You can rest assured Belfry is going to pound the ball, this early in the year and with Belfry's defense being subject I think Haywood will try to sustain long time consuming drives. Can Somerset match a big, strong Belfry team I don't think so.

I hope Somerset can take last nights loss and learn from it. If they hang there heads and sulk it could be a long year. They have the talent and are well coached, its not how ya fall its how ya get back up. Big task at hand this coming week though.

If the same Somerset team that played Pulaski shows up at Pond Creek next week Belfry will run the clock before halftime. You won't have to have long, time consuming drives when you can rip off 12 yards a carry straight up the gut. Belfry takes this one 42-7.

I hope to see a great game, but I think the home town heros takes this one by 21 or more.
08-24-2013, 01:23 PM
Give Pulaski a little credit. They are very good. If you struggle against the run you don't want to be playing Belfry.
08-24-2013, 01:27 PM
Hopefully Somerset comes a little pissed off and gives us a game. Struggling against the run is not a problem you want to have when making a trip to CAM Stadium.

I honestly think PC is a litter better than Belfry, or atleast even with them.
I expect the same results as last week.

Its very easy to regroup and play better. At least they wont have the first game nervousness. Should be a good game. Somerset will be ready to defend the run by stacking the line, thats when Mr Warren will go off in my opinion. If you cant get up and excited about a chance to rebound by playing a good team then it could be a long season. I am sure Somerset is up for the challenge.

Somerset may be better than Belfry, we will find out this coming week.

Let's take a deep breath. All these predictions of a blow out I think is an overreaction to Somerset having a bad first game against a really good Pulaski team.
My opinion hasn't changed and I don't expect anything other than a tough, hard-fought game.
My gut tells me Somerset is better than they showed this week and they will get to work on straightening those things out this week. Belfry is unproven, they have a lot of new faces playing and they will be under the lights for the first time. Somerset has those first game problems out of the way.
Belfry may be a favorite but 4 td's is a really bold prediction.

Fact of the matter is Belfry's defense has major, major questions still and offense is not Somerset's biggest issue. Plus Somerset will have Lange back,
Think it will be a competitive game until late.
Like Belfry by 2 TD all things being equal.. but can see them winning by 3 or 4 TD's if Somerset turns it over.

From what I've been told Lange will not be back for several weeks.

If you pay a little closer attention I was responding to upthegut saying PC is better than Belfry. I was being facetious by saying Somerset may be better than Belfry. I don't think Somerset is better nor do I believe PC is better.

Been looking forward to the Loooooong Trip to Pond Creek all summer...heart surgery last week and the way we played this week...thinking I'll save some gas and take my wife to the movies next Friday night.

I'm with you JD. I extended my leave til the 31st just to make this game, but after that game last night I just don't think I have that trip in me. I love my Jumpers but I gotta catch a flight heading West Saturday morning. Don't think I can make that trip to risk another let down like I had last night.
08-24-2013, 10:36 PM
Save the gas fellas..Somerset will keep it close early, then Belfry will start wearing them down with ground and pound.
08-24-2013, 11:54 PM
What happened with the briar jumpers? I was hearing big things this summer from a friend over there. I don't see the playing with Belfry after watching them last night. It took Corbin a while to get going but they came around late Somerset just never showed up!! How good is SW Pulaski?

Geez, the rats are jumping off the ship early.
I hope you guys change your mind. You have a great program and your team needs as much support right now as it can get. Those boys deserve it. I hope to see a large crowd from Somerset come Friday night.
