rd11,Boyle will be very good at the skill posistions next year with the kids they have returning that played this season. They always have good line play so im sure the coaches will do just fine coming up with some good lineman.

I know you read that on here or another site, but it's not quite accurate. On O, Towles, Trapp, Robinson and Sheehan return as starters. McGurn started many games at TE when we used a TE. True started a lot of games at a RB spot. So depending on the set, we have 6 starters on O returning.
On D, you have the Bruns brothers both returning, along with Dressman, Bowden and Quillen returning. (Quillen started as a sophomore and again last year, but blew out his knee fairly early in the year. All reports are he'll be back to full strength for next year). New started multiple games in the secondary and Murray started some games in the secondary also.
Plus there were a lot of other kids that saw a whole lot of time playing with the starters. When you two platoon like Highlands does and switch people in and out a lot on defense like Highlands does, sometimes the "back ups" get as much if not more playing time than the starters do.
In a nutshell, it's not 4 and 4 returning.

Same goes for Boyle we had several players play on both sides of the ball this year that will be returning that technically werent starters this season, but actually started at different times.

I was thinking the same thing. Both teams have good coaching staffs and both are losing talented seniors. In game one, when both teams will be rusty, it should be entertaining and in no way indicative of the way 4A will pan out in the playoffs.

Thank you Rebel players and coaches for a great 3 years of football. I hope we have continued success in the future, but whatever happens, I will never forget the memories that these last 3 years have left me with. And win or lose, I will always be with you and support you.

As long as our coaches are intact, we will be a very difficult team to beat. I feel very confident we will again reload next year. Coach Roe can take a group of wide receivers and turn them into an all state O-line. These guys adjust to the talent! How can anyone second guess 43 - 1 and back to back state titles. How quickly some forget or maybe just plain.....

These last 3 years, Boyle is 43-1. Has Boyle had a really large line at any point in there??? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think we've had anyone that has been say in the 6'3" 250 pound range, like your ideal linemen. And yet coach French and his staff still puts a line out there gets Boyle 4,000+ rush yards. I think they'll be fine with whoever the O-line is next year, especially after they get some experience.

I agree MSU Eagle  Boyle will have Hester, Cox, Harrington, Theilman, Kendricks, Warnock, and the State record holder Harris kicking for them next year. Come playoff time Boyle will IMO be fine after some games under their belt.

Has the Bowl Game participants been officially confirmed? Are we playing Danville next year also? If so when will the official schedule come out? I am hearing it is unofficially done as far as opponents.

RebelPride Wrote:As we celebrate #7 and look forward to #8, What are your thoughts about next year?
We have to replace a lot of seniors, but there is talent coming up and coming back. With one of the toughest schedules in the state (Non-district to include Highlands, AC-S, John Hardin, and Christian Co.) and rival games with LexCath and Danville, I don't see another undefeated season. But I do think that the young Rebels will get better as the season progesses and be a force to deal with at playoff time.
What about it Rebel fans?
You can add Bowling Green to your already tough schedule. The two meet the last game of the regular season at Boyle County. Both teams must have a hard time scheduling. No one wants to play us. Their loss is our gain. I am proud of both of our coaches for not running from anyone. It should be a great game right before the playoffs start.

So our non district sechdule next year is Highlands (5A Champs), Allen County Scottsville (4A runner-up), Christian County (5A runner-up), Bowling Green (2011 Favorite in 5A) and Danville. Along with Lex Cath, Marion, Mercer, and Taylor. Am I missing someone?

I thought I understood we were playing John Hardin next season. Has Bowling Green replaced them or are we playing them too?
Do you know if we were contacted by Ryle? I'd love if you can find out from someone who knows because another site has a member "claiming" Boyle was contacted by Ryle but declined a home and home with them.

Taylor
Mercer
Are we also playing in 5A next year too?

If so that's news to me. We can't play everybody next year can we Hatz?
If we are not beat up you gotta think we will be battle tested going into the playoffs.

Which game is the Bowl Game? John Hardin?

rd11... Are you bipolar, first you say Boyle is going to be mediocre for the year, then all of a sudden come playoff time you are the biggest supporter out there and noone is cheering as loud as you. French only takes over teams with talent....PLEASE he took over a Lincoln team that was 8 - 32, He took Mercer in the late 70's early 80's to contenders against powerhouse teams of that time in Harrodsburg and Danville. He took a Meade County team and whipped the paints off a St. Xavier team that was number 1 in the state and ranked nationally. But I guess all those teams were state powerhouses when he arrived.
French has been my buddy since Berea when my Dad would drop me off as a kid and have him take me fishing with a 5 galloon bucket and an old farm pond. So while I'm not an original Rebel fan I am a French fan, and do take offense to ignorance. If you aren't going to be a full time supporter I'm sure the other Rebel supporters would rather you not be a supporter at all.
I believe it was you who said the Rebels would have a horrific offense without MacShara and with three new lineman. So if you happen to be wrong next year don't be that classless guy who stands up and blows his bugle in a 50-0 first half blowout...

Christian County will not be on the schedule next year. Bowling Green will replace that game. Christian County will be playing in a week 10 bowl game that is closer to home. I believe their bowl game is in tenn.

Sounds like Boyle has an excellent schedule. As Central proves every year, the regular season record is not important. You just have to hope that the guys don't get discouraged if they lose big a few times or have a bad record. I personally will be shocked if Highlands beats you by less than 3 or 4 TD's.

I wouldn't be shocked if Boyle keeps it within 2 or 3 scores. You have to remember, Boyle still has a lot of talent still on this team, on both sides of the ball. And don't forget that Highlands is losing some guys too.
I personally will be a little surprised if Boyle wins, but I'll be pulling hard for em, and I know the players are going to give their all and expect to win.

When did French start coaching at Boyle? Was he the coach directly after Chuck Smith? Just wondering because I thought Boyle disappeared and was irrelevant with really bad teams from about 2005 until2007or8. Obviously they are back according to PurplePride, but what happened during that time period. I know they had some .500 or worse seasons.

French came in 2008. He has gone 43-1 over his 3 years at Boyle with 2 State Titles and a semi-finalist. The previous 3 years Boyle was coached by Pardue, the OC under Smith:
2007 5-7
2006 6-6
2005 11-2
2005 the 11-2 Boyle team lost a heartbreaker to Bullitt East on the road and to a loaded Henry Clay team that made the semi's in the old 4A system . That team was good, very good, just not great like the previous 6 years under Smith. We only really had 2 bad years, 06 and 07.
