Coach Hatcher would be a great coach to bring in, he takes what talent he has and makes them winners in a short time. If they can get him, they need to do what they need to do to get him away from Perry Central.

I think its only a rumor about Hatcher so people can't believe all what is said or wrote . I feel that rumor was put out just to get people excited but its only something that covers up the truth as to who will get the job. All I know those kids deserve the best possible coach be it from inside of the county or outside.

Are you working for the paper or just naturally trying to mess even more up?I beleive I remember you blasting Coach Harless myself! I hope we get a great coach because our kids deserve it! However, it is hard to say that Coach James did a bad job with the kids because everyone knows he coached the team when they started winning! Coaches James would be a good fit for SCHS! The other names that I keep hearing are Allen Hatcher and Challis Slone. I think that we couldn't go wrong with either of them!

Well, I for one wish Challas Slone would do it! I played for Coach Smith, Coach Slone, Coach Hammonds, and Coach Harless and Coach Slone is the best coach out of all of them! I was on two team in two years that only lost about 8 or 9 games and won over 60! If you ask me 60-8 or so would be an improvement. I really don't know what you have against Coach Slone but you are always on here bashing him and his son! I wish Dave was backhere and so was Trever and tehn we might be able to talk ab out the state tournament! I am pretty sure that if you ask any of the rest of us that have played for him they would all tell you that he would do a great job! Another thing is that he gets along with that Hickman guy at the paper and you have to be able to do that to stay in this county. How long has Coach Slone coached? I am not sure how long but I can tell you one thing, I have never heard anyone of my friends say anything but good things about him and Dave! It is real important here that we find someone quick and get things ready for this summer! Good luck to who ever you approve of!

well first of all its inez middle school hasnt won 60 games in two years in a very long time. and if it was recent it was only because ronnie smith and warfield middle school isnt beating him every year. i would like to know when this happened. but you are right david slone is a great kid. one of the most well mannered kids you will talk too. just dont think he is a all americian like some people think. but is a decent ball player. i approve of anybody but somebody that has ties with martin county school systems. i would love to see somebody get it that dont know a soul in martin county.

When did this happen>? Please let me know. I to played for coach slone, and warfield kicked our *** every year because they played the boys that could play. Slone on the other hand had parents affecting his decisions even though me may of knew who should have been playing. As i recall robbie smith accomplished alot more as a head coach than slone but was robbed out of the head coaching job when the schools combined.

However, my head to head record was 18-11 and 5-0 the last year we played against them! Just ask BJ he will tell you! The two years before that he was 4-0 against me and my kids and had some very good teams! But wins and losses are alot more about talent and not coaching! Did I also mention a 7th grade state AAU championship as an assistant? You should check out the River City Hurricanes! I think that we may have also won the Pikeville AAU league a time or two. The last three records that I had was 24-5 with Channing Smith and company, the next year I think that we were 43-5 (consolidation year) and a conference banner with great kids like Eddie Ferrel (not given a chance to play), Bj Jarrell, Justin Johnson, Dave, Derek Mollet and I think it may be up in both gyms if not I can send you some pics! The last year I coached we were 19-5 and third in the conference and probably would have won the whole thing if it wasn't for a very well coached team by Bobby Varney from Belfry. So, what I am saying is I guess you are right! I cannot coach! I admit I am not Rick Pitino or someone like that but I think that my little guys deserve a little bit of slack! I would also like to say thanks to my little C team at IES that went 12-0 and to my little tigers at paintsville that recently won a BCI championship at the Knott Co complex. I really think that if we can through out enough money we may be able to land Billy Gilespie! I hear he is still looking to land a new job! Good post Coach! Sorry about the spelling. I am sorry because it was me that prolly brought your name into this mess. I still wish you wold think about the job. Going back to the topic, I really do wonder who we will get for a new coach? I still keep hearing Larry James and JJ James! I think that they would do a good job at least as good as anyone else that we can get. Who would really want a job were the people talk about everyone instead of rooting for them? I heard today though that they are putting new bleachers in the gym with some of the fold seats in it, If so and its done the SC gym will be pretty nice.

I expect a new coach be hired sometime in the coming week but Mike Smith has not been offered and I just don't see him getting it. As far as the gym work will begin in June to put new bleachers on both sides of the lower section and 150 platform seats will be put in on each side so the new coach will at least have a much better looking place.

No it will not be Larry James.....you have to apply in order to be considered and he has not.
