A few of the players have told me that Harless has stepped down as coach. Who will be the next coach at SC?

I have heard a lot of rumors on this situation, the one name that I keep hearing is Larry James, I haven't talked to Larry but this is what I keep hearing

I have heard that Justin Amburgey has shown interest and Clay Campbell from Phelps I know would be interested but what I am hearing Harless has no plans of stepping down, we could only wish but I don't see it happening.

Just spoke to superintendent Blackburn and he said that Harless has not submitted his resignation to him and to be honest I don't he will resign as it appears that he wants to stay when no one wants him.:popcorn:

Well I was told by some of the players today when we was shooting around that Blackburn fired him today.

Apparently its no longer a rumor as what I have heard is that he was indeed fired. Guess it won't be official until he receives the certified letter but all signs point to SC having a new coach next season.:Thumbs::Thumbs::Thumbs:

Why is it that no one wants coach Harless? Blackburn only hates him for personal reasons.

Another reason Sheldon Clark will never win at basketball....dirty politics. Roger Harless, like JR Hammond, was an excellent basketball coach and a fine example to the kids. His teams improved every year over the last three seasons. It's a shame he was fired! I don't know who in the world would want the job! It amazes me that a school which has been to the regional tournament less than half dozen times in the last 20 years thinks they merit a decent coach. I believe they need to stick with football in Martin County. They win on a consistent basis and the movers and shakers in the community dont know enough about the game to interfere with Coach Hager!

At this point, no one knows who's gonna get the job. Hopefully its a coach who will play the right players @ not politics !

One thing that has been learned by many over the years is the old boy politics are more than alive and well in Martin County. A good coach is not wanted, so fans should forget about any changes being made because when you get James its the same as Harless.:flame:

Not if he would have to deal in politics. That is what got him out of Knott County in the first place wasn't it? I believe he chose the wrong side of the fence during election time. Maybe he learned something though, he might be able to play them a little better now he has a little experience. You never know. :eyeroll:

How would James be the same as Harless? Harless was fired because he wouldnt play Blackburn kid. Plain and simple. Why would Blackburn then hire someone else who wouldnt play his kid. I am no big Harless fan but he led the cardinals to there best record in 4 years and was bringing back almost the whole team.

the paper said today that it would take 30-45 days for blackburn to find a coach. it dont take college basketball teams that long to find a new head coach. his doing the same thing he did when he fired harless. at the the end of the season everybody was putting alot of heat on him to not fire harless. after a month everybody laid off and then he fired him when the preasure came off. same thing is going to happen the preasure is on to hire somebody out of county and specially not larry james or jj so his going to wait until people calm down and the heat is off of him and then hire the james's. i am writting a paper up right now to send to every news and media place i can think of and will finish it when he hires the new head coach. if it dont get no attention than so be it but i cant seat around and watch one man destroy these kids high school years.. its just not right

John Slone will be coming back to Inez to coach Sheldon Clark next year from what I heard at a board meeting a couple weeks ago.

Just see whoever lawrence co hires wait a year or two then come after him like the rest of the schools. Hoping boyd co. Doesn't win a game and gets blown out every game even lose to ashland as much as i hate them

I heard it is Allen Hatchers if he wants it! That could be a big lift for the entire area and could change the power from the johnson county and lawerance county teams! The next in line I believe (as I hear it) are Larry James/JJ James or Challis Slone! I have not talked to Coach James but I did talk to Coach Slone at the baseball field today and he said that he would rather them find someone out of the system so as to not make is hard on everyone here! If anyone else hears anything please post asap!

I know only what i've heard but one thing is for sure I think it will be impossible to ever build anything with the MC paper! The only thing that the paper does is put out lies that outsiders may believe! Between Ronnie Hickman and the Ball guys it would be a close race to see which is more pathetic! I think that they both have so many problems themselves that they should never get on here or in the paper and say anything bad about anyone else! I would like to see both of these guys families put in the paper and see how they would like it! Shame, Shame! Write the truth and not your made up oppinions! Wow! I just hope people inside and outside of the county don't believe any more of that crap and hopefully the paper wont have any say so over the new coach that is hired at SCHS! Go SCHS and get the best available coach that you can!

Come on Monster Energy! It's people like you that's wrong with this area! Are you working for the paper or just naturally trying to mess even more up?I beleive I remember you blasting Coach Harless myself! I hope we get a great coach because our kids deserve it! However, it is hard to say that Coach James did a bad job with the kids because everyone knows he coached the team when they started winning! Coaches James would be a good fit for SCHS! The other names that I keep hearing are Allen Hatcher and Challis Slone. I think that we couldn't go wrong with either of them!

Thank you for stepping in BCA I opened this with the full intentions on people trying to discuss the Next Head Coach at my old school not a bash fest.

On another note Im hearing James will be the next head coach but that's just whats being said here within the county
