Next coach at Perry Co. Central?
#31
Perry opened in 95 and has had 3 coaches. Searcy, Browne (twice), Chappel.
#32
Actually it goes back a little further than that. Mark Bodikie SP? Was the original coach at PCC. Followed by Paul Chaney when he left. Then Searcy came in and took over in 97. Total of 5 coaches and 6 coaching changes.

My apologizes on the year when Perry consolidated but I think Paul Chaney served as an interim coach for one year and I’m pretty sure there was another head coach close to the time when Searcy was a head coach. Would anyone like to confirm or dispute my other comments on the condition of the facilities, funding for football compared to other sports, or the number of assistants and their employment locations? Don’t get me wrong there are good people in Perry but the organization of the football program is not compatible to other programs and for the foreseeable future it will never be.

Id be surprised if the administrators in the Perry system are even looking for a new coach yet. I mean its basketball season for gods sake. Nothing else matters right now.
I have to agree with what Bert says, if its not round and bounces inside a hoop it doesn't matter to PCC.
Someone refresh my memory, has PCC ever won a sweet 16 game?

So who will be #6?

No assistants inside the high school.
One big problem Perry has its the county size. The county is so wide it makes it tough on parents to get kids to practice everyday. Some kids get on a bus around 6am just to make it to school. With the economy the way it is I dont blame a parent for not being able to drive 20-30 miles each way every single day to pick there kid up from practice. Although PCC number wise might be a 5a school by enrollment. They are generally lucky to dress around 30 kids a year.
#37
I keep hearing they wanna lure Mark Dixon over, but personally I think that would be one of the worst moves he could possibly make. He has great facilities, great support, and playing single A ball he pretty much competes for a state title every year.
#38
How will this coaching change affect Perry’s numbers? Usually high school and college programs loose kids in all sports when a program makes a coaching change. I’ve heard rumors they lost a kid or two last year and there may even more this year. Programs that have high coaching turnovers cause a since of uncertainty within a community and kids and parents go to where there is stability.
#39
I dont think it will affect numbers. Like i said they only avg. about 30 kids anyway. I think they were losing Boggs anyway. From reading a few other post by them it sounded like they were taking him to Pike co.

Shows what I know (NOTHING), I always thought Searcy was the fist coach.

I agree, Dixon has it made at Hazard.

I apologize. I was wrong about the coaching situation.

Yes.

It must be one. And I dont remember it for some reason.

I remember now, 2004. Morgan County.

Woodrow Call Wrote:I find it very hard to believe that Coach Whitaker would show any interest in that job woodchuck, I am going to go ahead and call total BS on that one pal

Could be. But, I don't think Whitaker has been named HC at LCC yet. Also, in earlier threads, there was some pretty stiff opposition to him bringing his nephew/promising QB into LCC to compete with the incumbent. Perry MIGHT be more attractive to him. It's not like he's never jumped quickly from job to job before. Great offensive mind, wherever he coaches.
#47
Forget about it. Whitaker is going to be our coach. Don't even get that rumor started?

Good post! Same problems at Letcher CC as well. 20 miles from my driveway to LCC.
Whitaker will not go from LCC to PCC.

A hire from within the county would be the best hire for them.

Don't really know anything but what I've heard on here and around some folks in M'boro but it doesn't seem like to me that very many people in M'boro are pleased with Roark. Could be him or could be the fans/support. I know his son is a pretty promising QB and the excitement of getting him is overwhelming, but I would look into why he was on the decline before I would get too excited.

We are in Kentucky aren't we, what else matters besides Basketball

Who cares about that egg shaped pigskin anyways??? Basketball should be all that matters, if you have a good football team that will just be a bonus for your school. :worthy:

Have heard that they have had several phone calls interested, but no mention of who the calls came from as of yet, but they are definitely working on a coach, even during hoops season. :yikes:

I have heard John Lutrell. former coach at cawood HS.. was in the military and was going to be coach at estill but it fell through. Would be great IMO
#58
Would be a good idea for them.
#59
I bet Lutrell will work thier tails off. He is a defensive guru. Super guy from what I have heard. all for teh kids.
#60
He played some good defense but he is more of an offensive type guy. Wing T.
