By far! Bell had a great team! I hated that one of these teams had to lose tonight. Two great programs.

Boyle really controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Even when Boyle fell behind 10-0 I never felt like we would lose. The only thing that worried me was when Boyle seemed to abandon Ress for a couple of series. Once we went back to our bread and butter, all was well.
No disrespect to Bell, but it was pretty obvious that Boyle was a BIG step up from what they were used to playing. I think that playing Lex Cath twice this season really prepared Boyle for this type of game. Bell played one big time opponent to open the season and was routed. That didn't do much to prepare them for a smash mouth game in November.

How about them Rebels not bad for them same ole rebels....now that's how you play smash mouth football...

We had Rees with 182 yards on 34 carries and 1 TD. I think he is the only back to have rushed for more than 100 yards against Bells Def. And boy it was the best Def. will have faces since we played them last year. And with 7 seniors watch out next year. I over heard the head man on Boyles sideline say " this is not us we need to run and ride what got us here". Boy did they the second half. You got to give Boyle credit, it looked like they kind of wore Bell down the second half with the run.
11-28-2009, 12:40 AM
Also one of our guys got to talk to the Davenports kids mom and she said that she was surprised that we shut down their run game. She thought that we would not be able to and she gave credit where it was do. That was a classy act and Bell has some class fans. Great year Bell and we hope to see you next year. Now Rebs FINISH THE FIGHT.

Its football 24/7 365 here. Trust me we have waited on this rematch just as much as Boyle has just to settle all the talk going on in the state and hype from last season!!! HOW BOUT THEM CATS!! Hmmmm.... 184 yds for McShara. Sounds like he had his way.

Great game by both teams. Our o-line really took control the last quarter and a half. I have to honest, I did not feel as confident as one the earlier posters about our chances after we fell behind early. They were very physical and very well coached. Just a great game between two very good teams. I was on visitors sideline and this team, staff, and fans were total class. They made just one or two more plays last year and the Rebs did this year. My last comment of the night is about Reese McShara. What a heart. Was hit as hard as he was all year and just kept going.

Congrats to both teams! Bell, you had an awesome season and an awesome team. What a game, right to the last seconds. Hope you win it Boyle County. I hate it for Bell, especially the seniors. It's always heartbreaking.

Hats off to Boyle Co. Very classy fans. I had a great time up there. Both teams played very well and showed great sportsmanship. Hopefully with us just having 7 seniors, we can meet up again next year on Log Mtn. Good luck to Boyle next week!

I agree 64. Coached made some adjustments and they seem to work in the second half. The last drive everyone knew who was going to get the ball and yet #2 Rees still was able to move the Rebels down the field for that game winning filedgoal. 184 yards rushing! Bell did look like they got tired and worn down on that last drive. Boyle did nothing fancy but place the ball in MacShara's hands. Way to go Rebels!

Wow that was a great game the Boyle defense was outstanding i was impressed .The Boyle county fans were nice the only thing was the visitor bleachers were awful i thought we would have a place to set again congrats to Boyle County

Has Mr. Football been voted on yet? The kid showed alot of heart tonight! He got popped every run and still got up and went at it again. He's one tuff football player!
If not...... 184 yards against the Bobcats Defense has to help his chances even more! I believe he needs a little over 125 yards to reach 3,000 for the season.

Great game Boyle, was a hard fought game down to the last 3 seconds, sure the run wasn't there as much as it had been due to great speed of Boyle defensive back field. Bell kept going to the pass game and it was working at times. It was a smash mouth game but on both sides, I did see Boyle Co. players really showing alot of pain when getting up after plays. It wasn't as lop sided as some would try to say, Bell scored 1 touchdown and 1 field goal. Boyle scored 1 touchdown and 2 field goals with one being with 3 seconds left in the game. True classic game that could have easily went either way just happen to be at a great fan base home field. But as bad as I hate that Bell lost, Boyle it wasn't a shame to lose to such a good team and such a classy fan base . Congrats to you and more than likely a state championship, WE WILL BE BACK NEXT YEAR BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER.:1:

I believe if boyle had not fumbled opening kick-off,bell would not have scored a point in this game

DANVILLE — In a top-10 showdown that lived up to its hype, unbeaten Boyle County beat defending state champion Bell County 13-10 on Phillip Barsotti's 29-yard field goal as time expired Friday night.
As Barsotti's kick sailed through the uprights, Boyle County fans swarmed the field to celebrate the school's biggest victory in five years.
"This is the greatest moment I can imagine," Barsotti said. "I never thought I'd kick a game-winning field goal to get us to state. It's pretty amazing."
Boyle County is back in the state finals for the first time since it was runner-up in 2004. It won five consecutive state titles before that.
Boyle County (14-0) will play Lone Oak for the 4A championship Friday afternoon in Bowling Green.
It will be the second trip to the finals for Rebels Coach Larry French, who led Meade County to a runner-up finish in 1991. That Meade County team lost to Dudley Hilton-coached Bell County.
Hilton's Bobcats also beat French and Boyle County 17-15 in last year's semifinals, so it was finally French's turn to smile last night.
It didn't look good for the fifth-ranked Rebels early in the semifinal rematch, which drew an overflow crowd.

It's early yet but not many posting on this thread. :eyeroll:
So I thought I'd bump it up. Let's hear it folks.
Stats according to AM News:
Bell Boyle
First Downs 8 18
rushing Yards 85 218
Passing Yards 122 51
Boyle had the only turnover in the game on the first play.
MacShara had 194 yards on 34 carries
Davenport had 53 yards on 22 carries
That kind of tells the tale. Boyle was physical on both sides of the ball when it counted the most, the 2nd half.

Hatz Wrote:It's early yet but not many posting on this thread. :eyeroll:You see after putting up an impressive 226 yards on a real-good talented Lexington Catholic defense....I actually seen in my mind that this would happen. MacShara has been nothing more than incredible in the running game this season not to mention scoring too, but this guy is not the only player that Boyle depends on. Bell County is indeed a good talented team but it was just the competition they played that of course would put up 40 to 60 points until they met up with Boyle County, but my hat is off to Boyle, good job in a tough battle against the defending state champions and good luck next week, Bell keep your all's heads up.....District-Region Champion and State Semi-Finalist not to mention you all beat 2 good teams (Harlan Co.,and Lawrence Co.), I would have loved to see that result on my team my senior year for sure so please enjoy that and you all pretty much met your match and you got your match. Bell's strength of schedule improved just a little bit from last year except that Marion County game but overall Bell improved on things and will be looking forward for the 2010 season so good luck on the off-season Bell and Boyle good luck in the state championship next week!!!!!!!!!!
