How Hard
#31
I played for Breathitt back in the 80s. And i have been here about all my life. The fugate boy is a good back. I dont even put him at the top of the list of Breathitt past player. Breathitt has been blessed with some of the best in the state. Players like Back, Roger Stamper, Chapman, White, The list can go on But no need to go that far. All that I am saying he may be a good back in High school. But he can be tackle!!!. Yes he had alot of yards. If you have a good O-line . Carry the ball 3 out 4 playes you should have alot of yards. I remember some games he would take the snap and run. High School he is great. The next level he will be a small fish in a big pond. Good luck to Mr Fugate in the up coming season.

I would love to see Fugate against Bell Co's "D".

What were his stats against Johnson Central and Louisville Central?

Add Belfry to that list above. They were a top 10 Defense in the state, how did he do against them?

I went and watched him play this year and he reminds me of a Eric Shun type player.

Holcomb won't play Bell Co you should know that. Breathitt Co has never beat Bell County.

You know from reading most of the Bobcat fans views in this thread I have come to realize that most of them are kids that play with him. Hence the anger of the use of capital letters. So I mean I'm sure that they love him and proud that he's just the god and savior of Eastern Kentucky Football, but they will try to argue that he's the best thing since cheese in a can cause he's there boy and all. But I'm sure he'd be a great back at a NAIA school he's not a college running back. Take in the account all the great backs here in the mountains. Most of them play different postions at the next level.

Harmon will play DB, Ivan Lee most likely DE, David Jones played Corner, Doug Howard went to Safety, just to give a few examples.

In one of my posts I noticed I posted this " But I'm sure he'd be a great back at a NAIA school he's not a college running back" I messed up and it is supposed to say this:

"But I'm sure he'd be a great back at a NAIA school. He's not a D-1 runnign back."

1. I dont play on the team.
2. No one here said he was the savior of EKY football.
3. How isnt he a college running back? As a junior he complied one of the best seasons stat wise ever in the state. You cant argue with that. I know some say stats doesnt mean anything, you are somewhat correct. What do some coaches, not all, look at when they are recruiting a player? Stats, what is this kid doing on the feild, Im sure they ask themselves. If a player just wows them on the feild, the player will be hearing from the coach or the coaching staff pretty quickly. I was watching the combine today and noticed that the two top running backs in the nation ( Moranoe and Wells) run around the 4.6 range with Moranoe dipping just below 4.6 once. Channing ran I think, someone correct me if I an wrong in the 4.8's as a junior. That gives this kid a whole off season to improve this speed and thats just scary to think of that and his power he has. Over the last off season you could see a dematic difference between him when he was a sophmore and a junior. Look at the tapes. Lets just give this kid some props for what he has done and can do.

1.Your location states your from the home of the 3 time state 2a champ didn't Brethitt win it 3 times? I could be wrong I know they went on a streak for a while.
2. Im am just stating the obvious. I mean I've never once seen a thread that said how hard is it to tackle other running backs.
3. Go back and reread what I posted. I never said he would not be a college running back. I said he might make a great back at a NAIA school. Then I stated that most of the great abcks from EKy have went on to play different postions in the college ranks.

I don't want to every one to think I'm bashing the kid because I'm not. He will et a chance to play college ball(something I did not do) But, lets get realistic on a few things here. There are gonna be better and greater athletes in the college ranks. Zack Lewis(CLay County) blew up the stat sheets(you mentioned them) and he's at Morehead, which is a great gig for the kid. But it's not D-1. No one ever mentioned how hard it was to intercept one of his passes. Shawn Grimm led the state in TDs and went to a NAIA school. Theres nothing wrong with playing at a NAIA school. My cousin is at Pikeville right now.
Channing is a great player no doubt. And yes I have watched his high light films. He is not a D-1 running back.

channing actually runs a low 4.7 sometimes high 4.6 is what he told me
#53
but Channing isnt telling you the truth, or hes telling you what he was told, which was false or wrong.

Channing maybe runs a high 4.8, low 4.9.

did anyone watch the NFL combine, a lot of RB's that were working out were running 4.6. Beanie Wells ran a low 4.6. I watch the tape, this kid barely breaks away from mountain players, Which are not know for their speed.

In the Central game, pre before they took out their starters, when channing stayed in, he was getting caught and hawked down by D Lineman.

He is either getting a hand time from a coach, which we all know are a horrible gage at how fast people are, or He is just guestamating what his time is.

I stated before, If this kid is this fast, someone get him on the Track. Because he would win his region over and over. There isnt but a handful of true sub 4.8 times in the entire mountains.

Lucky13 Wrote:When we played Breathitt, it depended on who was attempting to take him down. It was hard to catch him, it was hard to keep him away from the ball carrier when we were on offense, and most high school players will have their troubles bringing the kid down.

agreed

Difference with this though is that this guy can run a 4.6 from the start of the first quarter until the last dying second of the game. He's also a big, muscular guy, with TONS of power, Channing has neither the size of the power to be running in the 4.6's and trying to play D-1 ball at the HB position.
#56
besides the fact he doenst runa 4.6 to begin with.

i cant wait untill this kid goes to a combine.

People are gonna have their mind blown. when he puts up cone drills, shuttle, and 40 of an SEC offensive guard

What does Mr Patterson the savior of Kentucky Football run?
#58
4.7 no one said hes fast.

He actually will more than likely grown into a 3-4 defensive end/OLB. On the line with his hand down trying to get that rush, and dropping into coverage at times.

Tim also isnt a Tail back
#59
I think Channing can get down to the 4.60 area this summer if he works hard and I don't think a player in the state could just leave Central in the dust, but Channing did break some long runs on them and everybody else he played.

Confusedhh:
He also doesn;t have a thread talking about how hard it is to block him...

What Patterson does have is offers to UK, UL, Indiana, Cincinnati, and Arkansas.
