I just wonder... Are we keeping the same "O"? How different will this be?

I have beeen lucky enough to talk to some of the Pike Central players over the years and after doing so I would not so much blame any former coach for the team not doing so well. I will say there is a lot of inside problems as far as giving the 100% needed to get the results everyone wants.
I will not name names (mostly becasue I for get and it would not be the right thing to do) nor will I go into detail about what was said.
I hope the new coach, if there is a new coach can find away to(for lack of a better word)get the "team" to focus on what they need to do.

remember the old saying its not what you know its who you know, well its a disgrace when you are forced out over who you know. Pike Co. Board motto, "nothing but the kids" should be changed to "I'll scratch your back, you scratch mine".

Chapman will inherit the best Pike Central team that they have had in years. That is the worst part about Mac leaving. They were building this and this was the year to turn the corner.

McNamee seems to be a nice guy and all, but his stint as head coach at Pike Central has been dismal to say the least. Since leaving Pikeville the first time he hasn't had a winning season in four years at Pike Central, winning only four games each season. Record the last four years: 16-26. I don't mean to bash him in any way, but if an administration ever needed an excuse to get rid of someone, this would be the time.
Where ever he ends up I wish him the best!

Usually I would agree with you BUT....
If it is Chapman its an absolute no-brainer.

Chapman isn't the reason for Mac leaving, don't get me wrong I wish Coach Chapman nothing but the best, this was a purely political move straight from the top. Two fine men got the rug pulled out from under them for no other reason but political posturing. You would think the higher ups would have better things to do, such as ensuring the children's education, but it seems the only thing they are worried about is themselves

I guess the state title that was expected from this particular group of coaches isnt going to happen?

Bring back Johnny Poynter!!!!!

There are many kids walking the halls of Pike Central who are strong, big, athletic, but lazy. PCHS could have one heck of a football team if Chapman can get them all out. And get rid of the 7 year jerseys, add some Revo's, and run up that score board.
Yes, i have heard numerous times that Mac was possibly going back to Pikeville and that Chapman was coming. It is final that Macnamee IS NOT the coach as of yesterday. Not sure if he was fired or quit
I wish the best of luck to PC football and their new coach and starting a new tradition and dynasty.

McNamee was supposed to get it done at Pike Central, because he was from there and knew everyone. Chapman an outsider will find it hard to get people to work with him. There has always been talent walking the halls but it will stay there. If a local boy can't get them out, then an outsider really cannot. This job is a 5-6 win job at best.

My fav uniform that Central has worn was the all orange they wore in the Pike County Bowl one year.

This is probably one of the truest statements that I have seen on here. I fully agree with the "You scratch my back, I scratch yours." Nothing but the cold hard truth.

He has been there before(Pike Co.) so I'm sure he knows someone.Remember his stint at Pikeville?

Yep. He was there before, and had some problems as I remember.

Just having a good coach does NOT mean you will immediately turn around, or even have a winning season.
It takes talent, not just a coach. Plus, it's not like McNamee is a bad coach. He's actually a really good coach and just as good as Chapman.

Funny you said that, seeing how you are one of those people.

Chapman will be at Pike Central.

Did you play directly for Chapman during his stint at Pikeville? In my honest opinion I think you are on something if you think that Macnamee is as good as Chapman. I think Macnamee needs to refind his passion for the game that gave him so much. Chapman is a better coach than 90% of the head coaches in KY. Give him time and see what happens.

I will say this. I was at PHS when the episode with Chapman went down. And correct me if I'm wrong, but what did Chapman do at Pikeville that surpassed what Mac did? Chapman didn't make it to State either. And I remember when he came to Pikeville Chapman was heralded as the next guy to take PHS to the state championship and it was a disappointment the way things turned out.
I think McNamee is a better coach for high school, yes. He is a better person, has a better attitude, and is a better role model for kids in high school.
In high school, football is about learning teamwork and responsibility, not necessarily all about winning.

Well I guess what goes around comes around, Mac got this job because of poltics when they railroaded Poynter out of the job.
I guess when the Powers that be wanted him out of Pikeville, there was always his old buddy Eddie McCoy to hook him up. :moon:
I guess no state title like McCoy promised.

Wasn't a big reason Coach Chapman failed t get to state was a big part of the offense got hurt in a game I believe against Hazard?

I was just stating a fact about losing a huge part of the offense.

And I was just stating that maybe that was the reason and maybe that wasn't the reason. Who knows what would have happened. We will never know...because:

I hope you understand I was not arguing with you.
On another front I think coach will do a great job as long as he is in charge of the whole football program. I know I would love to see him on the Newark Catholic staff here in Ohio. He is one of two coaches that I would love to see on the staff at Newark Catholic with the other being the head coach at Paint Valley here in Ohio.

If you all could have helped protect his boy instead of letting him get hurt you could have gotten one.Of course him leaving cost us one.
