4. Lee Bowling is ok and not much else
I didn't know that one person made a team for Owsley and Turner is alway's affraid of making mistakes wich cause her (Turner) to get into foul trouble!Wright may be young but she DEFINITLY know's her stuff! The Gilbert girls and Combs also know what to do!It takes a whole team to do the work and to WIN!!!!!!!

Turner is pretty much their team.

i predict powell then estill then owlsley and last lee powell will go all the way.

All the way to what? I predict Estill (home court advantage in District tournament). Powell and Estill most always play close games come tournament time. Home court prevails.

Droppin'Dimes34 Wrote:Turner is pretty much their team.Owsley has more than Turner. The Gilbert twins have 3 years experience. Combs has experience too. But the X factor is Wright. She's only a freshman but she has game, and could be one of the best in the district by the end of the season. And they also have a new but seasoned coach in Green who has won district titles before. Don't count them out too quickly.

PLEASE DON"T GET IT TWISTED DROPPINDIMES!!!!! LIKE I SAID IT TAKES FIVE TO MAKE A TEAM!The saying is there is no I in TEAM!:ChairHit:

You're right, there is no "I" in team...which is why owsley county will definately not be winning the districts this year. Sorry.
10-21-2008, 12:15 PM
Yeah it does take five. That's why Owsley won't win. Because they only have Turner.

Owsley has all the potential to challenge for the title this year. The loss of Sheri Gilbert due to a torn ACL will hurt them but they still have Mika Turner, Candi Combs, Teri Gilbert, Payton Wright, Dannelle Marshall and a group of talented younger girls. They may struggle in the begining with the new style of Paul Green but by mid-season they will come together.

Still cant see them competing with Powell co.

The Lady Pirates are going to be a good team this year. I dont see anyone in the district playing with them. They have some big time players coming back in Barnett, Mcfarland , Rogers, An a good sophmore in Gibson... An the beast down low in Mcfarland is ranked 2nd in the Region.

lol the "beast downlow" I hear is a very talented player. If talk is true then I predict that many centers have a hard time playing against her.

Sounds like Powell has some good things going on in their program. Last year, late in the year, Estill beat Powell at Estill. By season's end, Estill will be the favorite, as the district is at Estill.

Again, Powell had injuries. When Estill played Powell at Powell, Powell won by 20+.

Estill did not play at full strength all year...and really won't this year, as Shelby Rader is still attending her program away. Of course, when Estill played Powell AT POWELL in the district final last year, Powell won in the last two minutes when Jones hit two threes. And, again, this disagreement will be resolved in late February (when Estill beats Powell in the district final at Estill).

Dont see it happening cavemaster. Powell is just too tough for any team in the 56th.

And that's what the tournament is for. We'll chat again in late February, early March. Care to make a friendly, non-monetary wager?

Around the corner from you, near that car wash, there's a pizza place and a little diner. Shall we wager a pizza or a dinner?

Estill is the only team in that district that can play with anyone else in the region. Powell lost to much and Owsley and Wolfe will just struggle to get through the season.

Wolfe is not even in the 56th district. You have no clue what you are talking about. Powell lost two seniors but return just as good players in Barnett and Mcfarland. Look for Powell to repeat.

Oh yeah, forgot about the Wolves getting a good move to the 55th where all they have is Breathitt to worry about..... So I forgot about Lee, opps! Lee is definitely not going to be any better than Estill or Powell either, So still going with Estill over Powell twice during the season and in the finals of the District tourney.
11-07-2008, 02:11 PM
I doubt Estill will beat Powell twice during the season.
11-07-2008, 05:08 PM
Oh yeah, forgot about the refs when they come to Powell. They forget they are supposed to be un-biased for some reason. But seem to remember that when Powell is on the road! What is it about Powell being at home????
11-09-2008, 04:42 PM
well lets just look at it this way, owsley came close last year winning. they only lost kendra c. and corina t. Still have gilbert twins, turner, and wright then the rest of the team that has made lots of improvements. they have a good defense team and i would not be shocked if they won it all this year.

Looks like the guru knows as much about refs as about wh:rockon: o's in what district!
