15thRegionSlamaBamma Wrote:my final answer is she is not one of the top 10 players in the region. Have I not made my self clear, she is a GOOD player. For Phelps she is a GREAT player, if I was to make a team of 15th region players she would not be on it. What do you want me to say? Do you want me to take your side and say she is an elite 15th region player? She has not made her known, I guarantee most people on this site did not even know who the girl was until you all mentioned her.
I saw the girl play and she impressed me. She sees the floor as good as anyone I've seen in the region which is most of the teams. Good size, handles the ball, jumps well, tremendous passer, good defense with a high bball IQ. I think she needs to take the game over more and be a little more aggressive (shot more). She's the type every coach would want...contend on winning and makes everyone around her better. Her, Conley, & Kayla would be my first three picks. As for all the other players mentioned did any of them play D1.

Yes Summer Jones played for East Tenn State or summthin like that then she blew out her knee and finished her carrier out at Pikeville College. Collins was recruited by D-1 school pretty heavily but decided to stay home and as we all know Ratliff was recruited heavily by D-1 schools but decided to go to Cumberlands which was a great fit for her IMO.
Ill watch her play at District and then I will get back to you on this im still saying no though for now.

I agree but I still say you should include Harless. She racks up a lot of rebounds also. She's an all around player with a great attitude.

I remember watching Summer play...very good player. The best I've seen (JMO) in the 15th was Ida Bowen from Sheldon Clark. Played at WKU when they were a national power.

Ida Bowen was one of the best players in the mountains ever. She played at SC during the late 80's and early 90's and graduated in 91 ( I think). I am pretty sure that she won Miss Basketball that year. Received a scholarship to WKU (when they were going to the final 4 year after year). Does anyone know where she is now and what she is doing, I would be interested to know.

Yeah thats why I do not remember her lol I was just a youngen then I was born in 87 if any one has tape of her I would be really interested in watching some of it. I am a huge sports fanatic and love to see old tape. Just the other day I watched an old film of when Tim Couch was in high school and played at Johns Creek when Pike Central played there.

Ida Bowen played 4 years at Western Ky. She was on the team when they
played for the National Championship 2 years I think. She went over seas
to play pro ball for 1 year. Not sure about that though. How many players
in the 15th Region have signed and played Division 1 basketball. How many
Ms. or Mr. Basketballs has come from the 15th Region?

Chaffins, Paintsville
Riley, Phelps
C. Salyers, Johnson Central

many others could fill up the 10 spot.
