Congrats to the Bobcats on the district title.

They had an impartial book keeper. The coach shouldn’t have said stuff to the parent but the parent really didn’t want the BL team to pray.
Congrats Bobcats!
Blackcats are the most dangerous team when they play together.
The official book keeper was Russell Kidd, who just had a kid graduate no more than a couple years ago (he sat at the table with him and Red). Betsy Layne book was kept by Red and Kidd was supposed to be official.
They had already given the ball to the free throw shooter then decided that Allen needed his 5th when everyone in the bldg knew he had 4.
The post game started when BL admin and coaches allowed the entire BL team to sprint accross the floor and celebrate and taunt the Pburg student section (right in that corner, its on video)

No clue if anything can be done but I would say no but if the kid for Prestonsburg was incorrectly fouled out of the game with just 4 fouls could Prestonsburg protest the game? I doubt the KHSAA would do anything but maybe ban the scorekeeper from doing it again but if that is really what happened that is just a shame. I went back and watched the live broadcast and they all had 4 fouls called. I honestly think in postseason games a KHSAA official should have the book. That way there is no bias and things like this won't happen. Sad that a game that was one of the best high school games in history won't be remembered for that but the other things that occurred.
Has anyone went back and watched the game to see if Allen had just 4 fouls? Sounds like the either purposely done this or put a foul on Allen that was called on someone else.

5 years from now we will look back on this game and remember the big time shots that brought BL back, the first half from Pburg, the big time plays from Schutts and the other things that happened on the court. I doubt very few will remember the extra stuff.

The WPRG and WMDJ broadcast both had just 4 fouls on Allen if you want to go back and watch it. Allen seemed shocked that they were saying he had 5. So unless multiple people were wrong then they got this one wrong. Doubt it can but something needs to be done to fix this. Couldn't care less who won but that is just wrong. Would be the same as in baseball as ending a game when the team only recorded 2 outs.
Good thing for Prestonsburg this loss didn't end their season and maybe both teams will get an opportunity to play again.

Don’t have a dog in the fight but that analogy is wrong. Ending the game with 2 outs does just that (it ends the game). Pburg still had a chance to win after he fouled out.

The coach try’s to get on the damn mic after that and talk yea I’m sure that will go well.

Waller fouled once and they gave it to Allen is what WMDJ said.

But that still doesn’t make sense because Waller fouled out with the right total of fouls. It would be different if he didn’t foul out but if they gave Kaden one of Blake’s fouls, how did Blake have the right amount of fouls when he fouled out? The whole thing is just fishy to me.

Somebody has already watched the PRG tape and knows. PRG immediately said they had 4 and then confirmed with others including WMDJ. Would be 1000 times worse if the guy blatantly added a foul rather than just mistakenly charged one to the wrong player. But for sure it will be clear which one it was.

Why isn't it in postseason play a KHSAA official is the official scorekeeper? So did the scorekeeper have a kid on the team?

I’ve watched both broadcasts and no one knows how BL ended up with the 5th foul. All the media had four, our scorekeeper had four, and heck, the officials had already given the BL player the ball to shoot free throws before sounding the horn. If you go back to 1:29 left in the 2nd OT, Kaden picks up his 3rd foul and the PA guy announces it as his 3rd. Kaden doesn’t foul again until his fourth foul which somehow ended up a 5th foul.

I was assuming everyone had access to official stats kept by BL and compare what BL had to the tape and determine if BL had extra total foul or same number of fouls with one on wrong player. If no one can get official stats as kept by BL that is very bad and makes it easy to cheat and get away with it. Public needs to see "official" stats as kept by BL.

Very good hard fought game, couple things could of been done different at the end that would of not caused a circus, but its done now. The only thing i will give my opinion on is as far as the 5th foul. I also keep book and one thing that a bookkeeper should do especially a visitors book is after ever quarter and OT. is to compare your book with the official book. I don't do this to try to make changes but i do this so my book matches and i can relay the foul counts to my coach accurately even if I disagree with the official book. Since they are official nothing me or the Refs can do about it but at least my coach is notified.
It was an awesome game to watch!

What will arguably go down as the greatest game in 58th District Tournament history, will be overshadowed by everything that happened during the game, and especially in post-game. Looks like plenty enough as already been said about the antics & controversies, so I will just keep it strictly on how great this game was.
As great as it was, the first half was bowling shoe ugly, neither team could buy a basket. BL didn't really have any sort of gameplan, just hoisting a ton of 3's. Pburg really didn't have much of one either, Keathley was trying his best to take over early, just wasn't able to hit anything but he finally settled down and started playing team ball, and all the credit to Pburg as they built a pretty good lead going into half.
Shots started falling a little more in the 2nd half, but Pburg just kept holding BL at bay, I thought to myself as the 4th started that BL would make one more last push to try and win or send it into OT, just had that gut feeling it would happen. Parsons from BL was absolutely on fire in the 4th & first OT, then the Hall kid who struggled early, really made some big plays as well including the game winner.
Keathley and the rest of the Pburg team left everything out on the floor, the Waller kid played a great game, brought a different style that Pburg didn't realize they had, size, toughness, rebounding, scored some points as well but he ultimately fouled out. Napier had a great game as well, he is just the quiet presence on that team, kind of lets his play on the floor do the talking, a great way to lead if you aren't as vocal. Allen who seemed to have been struggling as of late, sure had a hell of a game and made some big plays, sure hated to see him go through what he did with the foul situation. Out of all the players tho I still continue to be impressed with Graham Shutts, just an 8th grader but he hit some clutch free throws and a big-time corner 3 in the overtime sessions and played some great defense on Pente who can be tough to stop.
Just unfortunate as to everything that happened, but this was an incredible game with an incredible atmosphere. It was the first game in the entire history of the 58th District Tournament that went beyond double OT, I honestly could've stayed there all night, was hoping for a 5th overtime. But it was a good called game by the officials, never got out of hand or out of control, was great sportsmanship especially during the game when emotions are always high, just a fun one to be apart of. Best of luck to both teams moving forward into the super region.

This was one of if not the best game of the year. Both teams hard fought and played great. Also loves the sportsmanship from both teams throughout the game. However i think it is completely immature for a parent to yell at the opposing teams coach in the middle of the prayer circle. Whether you agree or disagree at what is going on there are better ways to handle it. As for Keathley rushing the coach it is completely classless. For someone who wants to play d1 basketball he has a bad attitude.
