I'm glad he won and I do think that fifth year players should have been eligible!

However, there is a difference in holding your kid back while they're in high school vs holding them back in grade school. The extra year of high school football experience and weightlifting would be the most noticeable differences. You're not experiencing that when you're in grade school. But again, don't take this as a dig on Dixon I'm glad he won I thought he was just as deserving as everyone else.

I can agree on the extra year of weight lifting and football experience, and I could even see the argument even more if this was the lone year Dixon was a candidate for Mr Football but unless I’m wrong this is the 3rd year in a row, that’s pretty dang gone impressive.

What exactly is the difference in a kid holding back in grade school vs high school either way they’re a 19 year old senior….Most kids now days are double hold backs or have held back at least once in grade school.  Congratulations to Issac Dixon wish this young man the very best, hope he gets that big time offer and accomplishes big things.  Some of you should be ashamed of yourselves for letting jealousy overshadow common decency, he’s a kid who’s shown nothing but hard work and class everyone should be hoping that his talent carries him as far as possible.

Kid met the age requirements to play which meant he could not have turned 19 prior to August 1. Double hold back are rare because it would mean the kid would have turned 17 his senior year if stayed in his original graduating class.

I graduated at 17. No wonder if felt like I was getting hit by a train all the time with the grown men running over me. lol

We both care about the kids it seems, I even said congrats to him you criticized me for really know reason at all just for having a opinion and asking a question. That was crazy, if the reason he isn't getting offers because of his skin color that is 1000% WRONG. I just do not agree with that, I played College Football and if you can play you can play period, but if someone out there is better than you, you have to except it. Not trying to start anything so do not take it the wrong way, but if you have proof that he is not getting offers because of skin color, please call that school administration and turn there butt in TODAY. I have a friend that Coaches for Belfry and he says opposite of what you are saying. I just don't understand the attack for know reason, and if you do it doesn't hurt my feelings. There's a lot of discussion on here that I didn't read through, so, I apologize if this has already been discussed. However, I believe a lot these kids that may be borderline D1 prospects are being affected by the transfer portal. Most schools are sitting on scholarships waiting to see who's going to enter the portal, especially, after spring practice. Used to they would take a chance on a good hs prospect, now, they're waiting on proven, experienced college prospects that could make an immediate impact (i.e. Wandale Robinson).

I normally would agree Dougie, but it’s become so prevalent now if you don’t hold your kid back for athletics then it becomes hard for a normal kid of average athleticism to compete and get playing time in any sport. I also graduated at 17 and definitely wasn’t ready for the real world looking back it lead to a lot of immature decisions because of that.

A lot of people have made this thread into something it shouldn’t, but it’s as simple as this… Dixon is good enough to play at the next level. I have family members that played against recent EKU recruits and UK recruits on the line and in the backfield, everyone of them says Dixon is the greatest athlete they have seen. Ask any player who lined up against him, they say the same. No matter his race or what the situation is, he worked himself to a position to get to be on a roster at the D1 level and no other person can say different. 4.4 speed, probably in pads, and power and the ability to break tackles more than anyone i’ve ever seen. The system is broken if he isn’t on a roster. I’m not saying bama or kentucky, but mid major D1 programs should be kissing the ground he walks on. Best back in the state since damien harris, who was on a different tier.

Yeah I agree. I'm not saying those were not legitimate reasons because they were but that is just what I had been told and obviously am not the only one. The 2 situations were just unfortunate occurrences.

Yeah, that's what I said.

No matter what the circumstances were or how unfortunate they were, just by them leaving could still make coaches from that program hesitant about making offers to kids from that school/area. Just the way it works sometimes. I wasn't talking bad about those young men, I know their situation well.

Interesting this pops back up, considering one of EKU's coaches answered the question of why they didn't offer him when asked by one of the HS coaches at the clinic Friday. The EKU coach praised him as a great player but.......... and that but was enough for them not to offer. I would be willing to bet if that "but" was enough for EKU to not offer, it is definitely enough for UK not to offer.

No im not stating what the but is either so dont ask. (its not a bad but, just enough of a but for high level programs not to offer)
