Godspeed Wrote:1. Powell/ EstillYou could be right, but I don't see it that way. Estill is probably the top team, but I think it's a toss up between the other 3 schools. What makes you think Powell has an advantage on Lee and Owsley after they lost 11 seniors and a lot of talent last year? Was their JV that good?

3. Owsley
Powell and Estill will meet in the district championship. Both teams have great talent and will continue to have a fierce rivalry entering this season. Can't wait to watch the two battle it out on the hardwood. Good luck to all teams this year!!

I also think Estill is the top team. I hope Powell can win it though.

No, Estill will take this district IMO

No Estill takes it this year.

With Powell Losing eleven seniors, i dont think that they can win it. All the pressure of this team is on the backs of Kinser and Banks, the two only seniors with varsity experience.

Powell County has never dominated the 56th district in boys and girls basketball like they should have (they were the only 2A sized school for years until Estill Co. joined in 2006). In fact they did not win a district championship at all in the 1980s under head coach Lonnie Morris. Powell Co. won (3) in the 1990s, while Wolfe Co. won (4) and Owsley Co. also won (3). With last years win Powell Co. has won (3) titles since 2000, Owsley Co. (2), Wolfe Co. (2)* now in the 55th, and Lee Co. (1).
I think it is Estill County's to lose in 2008.

Powell Co. has went to the state tourny twice. Can any other school from the 56th say that?

Lee County has gone to the state tournament twice also. Made it to the state semi-finals one year, couple of missed free-throws from playing for a state championship.
