Saw Oneida play Us (Leslie Co) last year. Said then with right Coach and a post player they could be very good. Looks like that is right.

Very good? That might be building up expectations a little too much.
06-18-2019, 09:44 PM
They could. They just beat bell with 5 players.

Last time I checked, both teams play 5 players. Someone has already said donât put too much emphasis on summer ball. Hardly any teams are full strength. Bell was missing 2 starters, then turned around and beat South Laurel that was without Cromer. Will that mean anything come next February & March? Probably not,

Oneida had no subs. Played 5 players for two games. Your right it donât matter come February but it is a starting point for teams. Everyone is missing starters including Oneida which was missing three today.

I will wager anybody that wants to put their money down that obi is gonna b a problem. I said all along donât look at summer but obi hit south in the mouth and it took keeping starters in to get up 15-16 middle of 4th if I remember right. Obi donât have everybody yet either. I wouldnât normally put stock in it. I ainât seen obi any in matts 5 years of high school but they got skill guys and a big. I see a potential problem

OBI shoots the 3 ball well. Iâll give them that.

I agree they should be a problem in their District. Who wins District will be in the hunt for Regional Title. 13th looks like it's loaded this year. In the All A. I give the nod to Williamsburg and Oneida, several others that can slip in. Good Luck to all. May have to slip over and watch some 13th Region Teams play this year. By the way Oneida shoots the 3 ball real well and that is always a problem.
06-19-2019, 09:19 PM
All A should be interesting. I made the mistake of underestimating Barbourville last year, and they still looked good when I saw them in the summer even with four of the top six graduating. Harlan and Middlesboro were in the finals last year and both have a good shot to get back.
06-19-2019, 09:52 PM
All a is for sure wide open. Could be anyone.

I heard that last yr and our region champ got beat soundly at Rupp by a team thatâs never been know to be a powerhouse.

That's true. The 13th was pretty good a few years back.
That is what I was saying about a team being "very good" was a lot to expect. Any very good teams would be a serious regional contender, if not a champion.
06-20-2019, 06:28 PM
Seems to me most teams are average compared to some in the past. Which would make this region wide open. The 14th seems to be worse.
06-20-2019, 06:44 PM
No way was I saying this Oneida Team would be very good compared to Clay Co. and Laurel Co teams of the past. I'm saying this team can be very good compared to Oneida teams for last several years. I do think they can Compete in the 13th. I do think as a whole the 13th will be better from top to bottom than past several years. JMO

OK. I could see that. Someone has said that the last five or six years, it seems. This is the most experienced team in a while though, but they can't just count on 3s or they can lose by 30-plus, like I saw them a couple of times in Lexington.

Iâm not sold on clay number one. Iâve heard a lot of grumbling that some kids quit and left because of the coach.
06-21-2019, 05:23 PM
Last I heard, South âmightâ get a transfer or two. Rumor mill hard at it, or is there truth to it?
06-21-2019, 06:14 PM
Judging by all the posts I have seen it looks like there are probably 13 teams who could be very good and the region seems to have balance. The bigger schools, North, South, Harlan County, Clay seem to be the favorites.
06-22-2019, 12:35 AM
I didn't get to see North or Clay but have a good idea of what they have. This would be my guess after the summer:
1. Clay
2. North
2. South
4. Corbin
5. HCHS
6. Knox
7. Bell
8. Barbourville
9. Williamsburg
10. Harlan
10. Middlesboro
12. OBI
13. Lynn Camp
14. Whitley
15. Jackson County
16. Pineville
17. Red Bird
1. Clay
2. North
2. South
4. Corbin
5. HCHS
6. Knox
7. Bell
8. Barbourville
9. Williamsburg
10. Harlan
10. Middlesboro
12. OBI
13. Lynn Camp
14. Whitley
15. Jackson County
16. Pineville
17. Red Bird

Looks good. I would probably change Corbin and Middlesboro's position.

if middlesboro keeps everybody I like them where you got them. if they loose trey brock I would have to move them a few down. Any of those 10 can beat the others on a given night. knox would be after north IMO
06-26-2019, 12:43 AM
Where is Brock supposed to go? I wish he would be in Bell County Blue again. Knox seems like they should be a top 5 team. They got some good players returning and are defending champs. They always have good players.
06-26-2019, 04:05 AM
Knox could be very good, but they struggled a little at LMU - losing to Harlan County and Bell County. They will get Turner back from injury by next season, and he will help

I think he'll put up good numbers no matter what people play - that does help though for offense.

HCS Wrote:I think he'll put up good numbers no matter what people play - that does help though for offense. My point is summer like we most have always said donât mean much. I think it shows what teams have talent. Like I been screaming obi has the talent to be ranked as high as 4 imo but I wouldnât put them there just yet. All jokes aside. I do see 10 to maybe 12 teams can beat one another. Burg is gonna be good. Didnât loose anybody and year older. Jackson co could be good. Itâs gonna be a really interesting year.
06-26-2019, 05:33 AM
All I said was Knox wasn't quite as good as I expected in June, but they can definitely get there. They did lose a lot. I had Knox No. 1 last spring/summer for 2019.
I agree that 12-13 have a chance to be pretty good, but most could also be pretty average. I'm not convinced OBI is a top 10 team yet. I've been wrong before though. I think Barbourville is the team most are overlooking. I overlooked them last year. They could be the best Class A team at this point, along with W-burg.
