Better not publicize it too much. Per the rule book any activity with another squad after shoulder pads went on Monday is a scrimmage.

So if that is true we are going to assume Bell Co hasn’t been in shoulder pads yet? Which is completely false. They went 7on 7 last night with Harlan and another one scheduled Monday. How do they not get in trouble? They’ll also scrimmage at camp (prob every day) and then the grid. So that winds up being 4 minimum prob 8 maximum - how does he get away with it? We don’t do anything sketchy up our way and still make it deep in the playoffs.

Well I found out about the 7on7 from the McCreary Football Facebook page so it must not be too big of a secret.

The secret is out for sure. How is the Somerset offense looking?

District will be fun this year but Danville just reloaded. Somerset lost a lot of skill also!!

Nothing close to what Danville lost. Somerset got most of the Def. back. Enough to beat Danville.

It will be interesting.
Danville does return their QB. They return 4 starters on the OLine.
Ads also return 2 D Linemen, 1 LB, and 1 CB.
Somerset returns a lot off of a 7-5 team.
Danville returns 5 starters on Offense and 4 on Defense off a State Title Team.

Somerset has some explosion and a better QB than I was expecting. There was a round-robin scrimmage format last week between them, Garrard, and Casey. I haven't heard exactly what happened in the Somerset vs Corbin scrimmage...

After seeing both Danville and Somerset I like somerset at this point. It’s really funny how quiet thin thirty is early this season???

I watched the Corbin Somerset Scrimmage. 7-0 Corbin, not much offense by either team.
08-12-2018, 04:38 AM
Didn’t see that one. Watched the second scrimmage and the offense was ok but showed some potential. They had a few guys banged up offensively so I believe if they get and stay healthy they can win district. Again, mho

Somerset's defense is legit. They are versatile. Big defensive front, and hard nosed linebacker play. Their secondary is very good as well, deep and short coverage they are tough. IMO you need at least 3 good receivers, well above average to really beat them with the pass, and also a good QB. You won't lob the ball up against Somerset and expect good things to happen. Also you need an extremely crazy fast running back or a freakish power back. A 2016 type Belfry line would obviously beat them (or almost anybody). IMO if Somerset isn't top 4 in 2A I would be surprised. And I'm no "friend" them. We battled those guys in youth leagues for YEARS. I'm no hater either. I realize I was an emotional parent in those days and now years of coaching and coaching a little bit higher level that petty crap goes away a bit. Denying someone is good when they are always seemed stupid to me anyway. Danville also lost maybe the best individual (skill wise) talent I had saw, personally, in a long time. They lost a great linebacker as well, and some good lineman. This will be a rebuilding year for Danville, IMO, and a very "down year" compared to the last 2 or 3. And I'm a fan of the Ads.

First of the season, nearing, and after hard summer practices, EVERYONE is banged up right now I'd say. A lot of kids not even close to game ready shape as well.

Iâm here, Danville has a lot of work to do, I guess weâll find out when Somerset comes to town, I thought Somerset defense played Danville as well as any team last year except Boyle County, if Somerset looks as good as Pulaski SW youâll be fine.

Irregardless, Danville may go for 3 or 4 years of "bad periods", but that's still probably above .500 and within 3 or 4 years they'll be making deep playoff runs again. Their not quite the back to back to back football factory Mayfield is, but I feel overall Danville has had the greater teams overall. I did help coach a team that beat this current group of seniors and juniors back in middle school. Lol. First time we had ever had any kind of win over Danville at any level in football. Last time we played them in varsity I think Danville put like 80 on us, and they were putting in their subs early. THat was the late 80s or early 90s. You had better have been real good to compete with those Danville teams.

Cats' Pause has Somerset picked to finish 4th in their Dist. Just shows what these writers know. Somerset will win their Dist. and make a long run in post season.

Hold up....4th?! Seriously?! I'll bet that one hung up in the locker room somewhere.

If that pick actually appears anywhere, itâs gotta be a typo. No way ANYONE sober thinks Middlesboro will finish over Somerset in Class AAâs toughest district.
Granted the Bunnies have finished the district 3rd, 4th, 3rd, 3rd and 3rd in the past five seasons, but the planets are shifting, and SHS should be the favorite in the east this year.

Their defense should be tough and carry them deep into the playoffs.

No typo, I saw it myself in Cats Pause Mag. today. They never pick Somerset high, even when they were winning all those Regional Titles 5 years back. We shall see what happens but I think Bunnies will be for real.

I've saw in some of these coach's polls, only, maybe 6 head coaches in all of 3A, or all of 2A, etc.., even vote in the poll. That's kind of aggravating. I actually do somewhat, almost, give a damn, what other coach's think. Really I do like their insight. If they'd just give it out.

I'm no Bunny homer but Somerset's defense should be as good as anyone's in 2A this year. The offense hasn't came along yet, but at this point in the season many team's offense lags. Danville always has players and has to be respected, but a trip to Commonwealth for Coach Lucas and gang would be no surprise to me.
