Belfry @ Pikeville 9/16/16
#31
I'll say the same thing as I do every year during Belfry week. If I'm Coach Mac, I tell these young men to go into this game w/ nothing to lose, If Belfry wins big, so what? Belfry is supposed to win big. Just play hard, leave it all out there on the field and we'll be a better team because of it regardless of what the scoreboard says. Case in point: Last season Belfry dominated us...and we didn't lose another game afterwards...As much as it pains me as a Panther alum to say this....This game isn't a rivalry game anymore, it's a teaching tool for both sides. Hope for an injury free game for both sides and hope both our seasons end the same way they did last year.

That is all. Y'all were the heavy favorites two years ago as well. Just saying football is a funny game sometimes. Hope and pray for an injury free game for both teams.

Yes I agree I hope for a competitive injury free game

Looks like WYMT is picking this up for their Game of the Week

At this point....the Pirates just need to take care of business. Clean up the missed assignments and the glut of illegal procedure calls. Unlike a couple of years ago.. I don't think Pikeville is in position physically to challenge Belfry's Offensive front....so look for a steady diet of Fletcher, Wellman, Adkins, Hensley, Catron...the list can go on and on. NewCath came into last weeks game with the idea of taking Pirate QB Corbett out of the mix....and to their credit...they were successful. But still got beat 41-7. This team attacks you offensively in so many different ways..... So a team simply can't come in and scheme to shut this or that aspect down without giving up something.

Belfry had long sustaining drives against NewCath.....something these Pirates needed. They had to work. The whole game. This team desperately needed to still be playing well into the 3rd Qtr. IMO, that won't be the case this week. I believe you'll see Belfry break some big plays come Friday. No disrespect to Pikeville.....I just don't see where they have the horses to shut down Belfry's offense. Defensively......Pikeville may hit on a big play or two.....but without a consistent, sustained running game.......it could be a long night.

It's a local game...with local bragging rights. Belfry needs to come out of it healthy. Pikeville simply cannot afford any major injury. Let's just hope its a good, clean, injury free game.

I don't think this will be anything close to the "Game of the Week". Belfry is on another level, while I think Pikeville isn't close to what it was last year. Belfry will dominate the game up front, and I look for a running clock mid way through the third quarter. This isn't a jab at Pikeville, it's just that Belfry is too good. Belfry wins 49-14.

Belfry has 3 games and 3 running clocks...

Belfry 46 pikeville 14

Agree. Don't know why wymt would have it as the game of the week. Imo, Belfry is probably in the top five teams statewide, regardless of class. I think JC and Belfry would have been more of a game of the week.

Have to give PHS a lot of respect for not ending this series against a tough opponent that they don't have to play.

Not close ,Belfry as bad as they want .Pikeville way to weak up front to even consider hanging around in this one! 48-7 Belfry.

I agree. Even though I will put Battle up against any QB in the state he's gonna spend a lot of time on the ground and trying to escape the pressure Friday! Pikeville O line is gonna have to step up in a big way to give their QB a chance to do what he can do!

Belfry isn't the same as they were two weeks ago, and neither is Pikeville. We get it. Y'all are the greatest ever, you're the favorite in this game, and holy moly, how DARE anyone take offense to you saying your JV would score 28 on us. I forgot, we are all supposed to bow at the alter of the almighty Belfry Pirates and just willingly walk the plank blindfolded. Arrgh matey. :worthy::eyeroll:

It was sarcasm, in case you are in short supply of comprehension. Lol. I was being sarcastic (and a little caustic) in response to someone implying Pikeville was just better off not showing up (not his exact words, but what was implied).

How nice would it be for Pikeville if they pulled off this upset Friday night? We all understand the odds but we all know in this game stranger things have happened! Is Belfry used to dominating? Yep! Just saying from all the comments above, just the amount of Crow alone that Belfry fans would have to eat would be record breaking!! We all know the talent at Pikeville's QB spot! Charles is as strong on both sides of the ball as anyone Belfry has and he's doesn't run out of gas! I understand it takes more than 2 players but just say'n! Be a bad night for Belfry to catch the fumble bug!

Not meaning to be "That Guy" but I wouldn't be surprised if Ray Horton was able to bench press Charles while Charles was in the process of maxing out

Horton's one of those rare type of players

Belfry with a running clock early in the second quarter if not the first quarter.
#59
I would have to agree with Eku. Ray Horton is most likely one of if not the strongest defensive tackles in the state by a comfortable margin. As far as blowouts go, this Belfry team would probably blow out a very large margin of the state. Not saying that will happen but if it does it's not like Pikeville isn't a good team. I still wouldn't be surprised to see Pikeville in the state championship.

Just curious EKU, what does Horton bench press ? I'm thinking upwards of 400 maybe ?
